| sr |
dc.description.abstract | The subject of the research in the paper is the degree of correct use of the agreement of specific nouns of neuter gender in Serbian as the heritage language in Serbian children in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, that is, in the countries where German is the official language. In this paper, the nouns of neuter gender ending in the vowel e had been observed, as well as the irregular plural form of the neutеr gender nouns. The initial hypothesis in the research was that the negative transfer would occur when the gender of the noun in Serbian and German was not matched, both in the singular and in the plural, irregular form. The characteristics of the incomplete acquisition, that is, the simplification of the gender system in the Serbian language, were also expected. Respondents translated sentences from German to Serbian. The results showed that the noun ending in the vowel e is predominantly agreed correctly with both the verb and the determinant, by both more and less fluent participants, regardless of the mismatch of the gender in Serbian and German. However, a somewhat larger number of participants, although less fluent ones, exhibited both the qualities of negative transfer and simplification, and they agreed the noun with the determinant and with the verb as male plural form. | sr |
