Критика Русоовог учења у делу Слободана Јовановића

Abstract

The analysis of contractualism was a permanent focus of Slobodan Jovanović’s research and studies, beginning with his early works. He dedicated a special attention to Rousseau’s viewpoints because they had made a decisive historical impact and become the basis of the worldview for an entire epoch. The early work The Social Contract was dedicated to the criticism of the following notions: natural state, social state, personal liberty, general will (volonté generale). Jovanovic’s main work The State is a follow-up to its conclusions, with criticism of social contract and natural rights. It actually shows that in the paper The Social Contract there already were the main premises of Jovanović’s own theory, yet to be developed afterwards. Jovanović did not consider the first medieval commencement of Serbian philosophy, but he paid attention to critical review of the very foundations of another beginning of Serbian philosophy, the enlightenment. His analysis is the most comprehensive reflection on the position of Serbian thinking and Serbian society in late 19th and the first half of 20th century.
