The aim of the paper is to take part in the debate on whether there is a narrative link between the nine cantigas d’amigo of Meogo or not, and, if there is, whether the order in which they appear in the cancioneiros is correct. The author presents and discusses the results of previous comparative research of a group of traditional songs (Breton, Bulgarian, Lithuanian and Serbian), which belong to the same family of texts as Meogo 5 Meogo 9. These results demonstrate that the Meogo 5 Meogo 9 are intertextually related on a narrative level and that there is a narrative logic in the way the rest of the cantigas of Meogo is arranged with respect to Meogo 5 and Meogo 9. This implies that the order in which they appear in cancioneiros is correct. As the European material reveals connection between this family of texts and ritual linked to mythical contents regarding the ideas about the rebirth of nature, it is discussed the possibility that the cantigas of Meogo might present a kind of ‘ritu...al script’ linked to some spring, prenuptial or nuptial custom, i.e. that they form a sequence.
