и програми, уџбеници и наставна средства, провјера знања, сертификати., In this paper, the author states that significant results have been achieved in the area of
teaching Serbian as a foreign language. He also states that, apart from such results, there are still
many unresolved issues, in both theory and practice. The paper includes a brief description of
the current circumstances, as well as potential solutions to some of the problems. The author
puts special emphasis on consequences of dissolution of Serbo-Croatian language union. He also
calls for implementation of contemporary methods in the teaching process, more intensified
theoretical work and stronger collaboration between domestic centres and departments abroad
teaching Serbian as a foreign language. The author also calls for Serbia’s accession to international
institutions that are engaged in evaluation of knowledge of second language (L2).",
