Павле Поповић и народна књижевност

Abstract

У раду се износи лично занимање Павла Поповића за народну књижевност још на студијама, да би посебна пажња била посвећена његовом каснијем научном приступу у складу с најсавременијим методама тадашње европске фолклористике. Привржен Вуковим сакупљачким и језичким схватањима, истовремено се трудио да нашу грађу уведе у „велики свет“.

The exposure deals with approach to folk literature by Pavle Popović, who, familiar with development of European and global comparative folkloristics, initiated scientific publications of Serbian materials and of studies about it. By adjusting his understanding of “historical criticism“ to the very folk literature, without neglecting “criticism of taste“, “of source and model“, in several detailed studies he found similarities in works of Shakespeare, Voltaire, Bürger, Maupassant with our folk stories and poems. At the same time, he managed to enrich world cultural heritage with Serbian materials, but also to provide motivation that “episodes of folk poetry... by artistic processing“ reach “heights of great artistic productions“.
