Владан Ђорђевић и Српска војска

Abstract

Доктор Владан Ђорђевић (1844–1930) био је први хирург у српској војсци. У војном санитету радио је седам година (од 1871. до 1878. и 1885. и 1886). Био је хирург и управник београдске Војне болнице и начелник српског војног санитета у Првом (1876) и Другом (1877–1878) српско-турском рату и у Српско-бугарском рату (1885–1886). Написао је или учествовао у изради доктринарних докумената о организацији и раду санитетске службе, ослањајући се на своје лично искуство, али и прописе страних армија, посебно немачке и швајцарске. Већина његових предлога о раду санитета је прихваћена и примењена. У војсци је држао предавања о раду болничара на ратишту и о начелима војне хигијене. О томе је написао приручнике који су више деценија били званични уџбеници. Значајно је унапредио положај српског војног санитета и санитетских официра. Допринео је повећању броја санитетског особља у војсци и бољем опремању санитета. Унапређењем хигијенских услова у војсци смањен је број разбољевања, нарочито од заразних болести, а бољим условима лечења у војним болницама смањена је смртност од болести и повреда. На основу укупног доприноса развоју српске војске и војног санитета, доктор Владан Ђорђевић један је од његових најзначајнијих представника у целокупној српској историји.

Dr Vladan Đorđević (1844–1930) was the first surgeon in the Serbian Army. He served in the Medical Corps for seven years (from 1871 to 1878 and from 1885 to 1886). He was a surgeon and head of the Belgrade Military Hospital and headed the Serbian Army Medical Corps during the First (1876) and the Second (1877–1878) Serbo-Turkish Wars and during the Serbo-Bulgarian War (1885–1886). He either drafted or participated in the preparation of doctrinal documents regulating the organization and work of the medical service of the Serbian Army, having relied on his own experience, but also on the regulations of foreign armies, especially the German and the Swiss ones. The great majority of his proposals in reference to the work of Medical Corps was accepted and implemented. In the army, he gave lectures on the work of medical orderlies on the battlefield and on the principles of military hygiene. He wrote handbooks on the aforementioned topics, which served as official textbooks for several decades. He significantly improved the position of the Serbian Army Medical Corps and medical officers and contributed to the increase of medical personnel in the Army and better equipping of medical service. Through the improvement of hygienic conditions in the army, the number of military personnel diagnosed with different illnesses was reduced, especially in reference to infectious diseases, whereas better treatment conditions in military hospitals reduced mortality from diseases and injuries. Due to his overall contribution to the development of the Serbian Army and its Medical Corps, Dr Vladan Đorđević has been considered as one of its most important representatives in the entire Serbian history.
