О предлогу поврх

Abstract

This paper explores the semantics and usage of the Serbian preposition povrh (‘on top of’) – used both autonomously as a preposition or within textual connectors (with a view also to the usage of such connectors, in particular, povrh toga ‘on top of that’ and povrh svega ‘on top of all’). Based on the theoretical tenets of cognitive linguistics, the analysis establishes the physical space relations denoted by the preposition povrh (thereby reconstructing the “semantic network” of its spatial senses) and identifi es its abstract senses resulting from the metaphorical projections of the pertinent spatial relations into abstract domains.

У раду се анализира семантика предлога поврх – било да је употребљен самостално или у оквиру текстуалних конектора – као и употреба самих тих конектора. На теоријским основама когнитивне лингвистике, утврђују се односи у физичком простору које он означава (при чему се реконструише и „семантичка мрежа“ коју сачињавају његова просторна значења) и апстракт на значења добијена њиховим метафоричким пројекцијама у апстрактне домене.
