There were five changes in the territorial organization of the Serbian
Orthodox Church in the region of Bosanska Krajina in newer history.
The first and the most important one happened in 1900, by founding
the Metropolitanate of Banjaluka and Bihać, which comprised western
and northwestern part of the Metropolitanate of Dabar and Bosnia. That
was followed by two changes related to establishment and annulment
of the Diocese of Bihać in 1924 and in 1931. The fourth change was
correction of borders of the Diocese of Banjaluka in 1948, while the
fifth one, also of the great importance, was the reestablishment of the
Diocese of Bihać in 1990, under the name of the Diocese of Bihać and
Petrovac. All of these changes were consequence of various historical
circumstances, and reflection of political, demographic, social, and
economic development, as well. In 2010, there were two organized
dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Bosanska Krajina, with 208
parishes in all. Howeve...r, there is no precise data on how many Orthodox
Serbs live there.
