“There are creatures never influenced by evil, they are like diamonds that blunt the hardest
of steel” is a quote from Mihailo Petrovics piece Metaphors and allegories; and this piece
demonstrates himself as a diamond of an exceptional intellectual, and spiritual purity and
value. The aim of this piece is to show symbols of Mihailo Petrovi´c’s childhood, which determined his personality, as a prior picture of his later life. Growing up with parabolas and
allegories of spiritual and humanities books from his family library, with slight metaphors
of epic literature, shaped a strong, emotional construction of his mind and clear cognitive
and intuitive performance for the future scientist. In that way “metabolism and motoric”
of nature are translated into differential equations, in the first pieces of Mihailo Petrovic’s
work, and they showed certain metaphoric associations. Following “phenomenological mirror” he observed symbols and explained their multiple meanings. In that sense,... even carved
contour of a fish, at the main entrance of his home, talked about a catch coming from
pure depths of his travelogue into what is rational and irrational, in comprehensions of
this great mathematician. The picture of life and work of Mihailo Petrovic is so crystal
clear that beats of his intellect, even today, virtually live through a school of maths and
rich, ramose tree of his pupils.
