Abstract

It is well known that in science new ideas appear permanently, they rise to the surface and are in the focus of scientific interest. Many of them disappear quickly, but some last for centuries, as an incentive for further investigation and research and as inspiration for new discoveries. The results of scientists that are encompassed in the edition "Lives and Work of the Serbian Scientists", will probably, in the future, arise among many researchers, new approaches, new ideas. They will arise the desire to cope with the problems and to verify acquired results in the contemporary conditions, and will be contributing in any new period of social and scientific life, to further development of scientific taught with us, to its universality and will be of benefit to the whole mankind. As it was pointed out in the Forewords to the previous publications, the aim of the edition "Lives and Work of the Serbian Scientists" is to bring out of oblivion all that is of importance and value in the lives and work of individuals that were the founders of our science or have contributed to its development. Creative roots of the first scientists enabled sprouting of new shoots, which grew and developed, bearing fruits that were used by the scientists of the future generations, and this process will permanently continue to go on. I believe that their endeavors will not only leave historical trace on lives and work of some scientists, but will also be an additional urge to further investigations.
