Драгољуб Јовановић о десничарима српског и југословенског националног усмерења

Abstract

Dragoljub Jovanović was an active politician for more than three decades, being one of the authentic and most consistent political left-wing leaders. He spent many years fighting the political right-wing, Serbian and Yugoslav national oriented alike, meeting in person almost every significant leader in political arena. In his memoire works, Political Memories and Medallions, Jovanović often reflected on political right-wing and its leaders. Although writing from the ideological and political rival’s perspective, his reflections are precious, complex and nuanced. Reliability of those has been confirmed in greatest number of cases by comparative analysis and confrontation with archival records and contemporaries’ memoirs and diaries. This paper analyses Dragoljub Jovanović’s writings on several important right-wing political leaders, who distinguished themselves in Kingdom of SCS/Yugoslavia political life and collaboration during the WW2 occupation of Serbia. Each of personalities has been chosen to present a good case study, valuable for understanding of political processes in Yugoslavia 1918–1945, but also for studying character and personal motives influence on political events.
