Асимилација и мањинске организације Срба у Темишвару у историјском дискурсу

Abstract

Након приказа мањинских институција различитог типа у прошлости и данас, у раду се анализира њихова улога у борби против асимилације и у очувању националног идентитета и културне баштине Срба у Темишвару. Поред тога, разматра се и њихов допринос формирању специфичне мањинске културе Срба у Темишвару, као и њеној афирмацији у ширем друштву и у матици.

The first part of the paper includes a broad description of a variety of the Serbian minority activities in Timisoara – from religious and cultural to beneficiary, sports and political. The second part of the paper discusses the minority’ efforts in keeping and expressing national identity, in the process of assimilation. The minority’ activities and organizations, in the past as well in the present, have, apart from being centers of a social life, a very important role in preservation of the national identity, recognized by the informants also. They also represented means and centers used to fight assimilation (influences of German, Hungarian and Romanian origins) that had tried to influence the Serbian minority for more than three centuries. The organizations also have played an important part in formation of the specific Serbian culture in Timisoara, but also in wider Romanian society and in the homeland.
