У раду се даје кратак преглед језичке ситуације и језичких политика држава које су се смењивале на простору Баната и утицале не формирање језичке идеологије банатских Немаца, од Хабсбуршке и Аустро-Угарске монархије, до Краљевине Југославије и социјалистичке Југославије. Анализа је заснована на дискурсу банатских Немаца, забележеном у савременим теренским истраживањима.
The paper presents an overview of the language situation and language policy carried
out by different states in the region of Banat which had shaped language ideology of
the Banat Germans, from Habsburg Monarchy and Austro-Hungary, to Yugoslavia and
Socialist Yugoslavia later. The analysis is based upon the discourse of the Banat Germans,
recorded during the fieldwork in the research interviews. Main themes concerning
contemporary language practices are singled out and reflected upon.
