Abstract

Formationwise adjectives with the prefix ne- fall into two groups: prefixed and prefixed-suffixed ones. In most adjectives with this prefix there is a direct connection between the adjective and the prefix. In few instances this connection is indirect — adjectives are formed by the means of suffixation from nouns which already contain this prefix. The majority of adjectives with the prefix ne- have the suffix -an/-ni (nekoristan). Numerous are also adjectives with suffixes -iv/-ljiv, -ski and -en (nedokaziv, nedemokratski, nedruštven). Other suffixes occur more seldom. Adjectives which originate from adjectivized present participle, scarcely found in hermeneutic dictionaries of the Serbo-Croatian, presently occur more frequently than in the past (nevladajući, neushićujući, nesvetleći). There are adjectives that are never, or quite rarely, combined with the prefix ne-. In that number there are: a) adjectives with the meaning of intensification or mitigation of the degree of qualificative marcation, including adjectives of subjective evaluation (ogroman, ogavan, bledunjav); b) adjectives that, due to their meaning, cannot be opposed to other adjectives (srednji, osrednji, apsolutan); c) adjectives used only when they are included in firm phraseologisms (trešten pijan), d) adjectives that cannot be opposed because of their intensive presence in the same word class (crn, zelen).

У раду се даје подела придева са префиксом не- према начину творбе. Наводе се ограничења у комбиновању придева са овим префиксом.
