Велико слово „из поштовања“

Abstract

As a part ofhis efforts to critically re-examine and evaluate current norms of the Serbian orthography, the author analyzes capitalization „out of courtesy as an expression of honor and respect“. The criterion itself has is addressed in detail, followed by the rules derived from it. А special emphasis is laid on the spelling of the pronounИ (Vas, Vam) when referring to one person. In its conclusion the paper offers proposals concerning the treatment of the addressed topic in the new edition of the Handbook of Serbian Оrthography.

Писање великог почетног слова „из поштовања“ или „из куртоазних разло га“ један је од спорних критеријума утврђивања норми нашег правописа. Отуда потреба да се детаљно размотре отворена питања у вези са самим тим критеријумом, а још више са његовом применом у различитим случајевима који су прописани ранијим и актуелним правописним нормама. Уз критичко преиспитивање тих случајева дају се и конкретни предлози како ову материју регулисати на логичан и задовољавајући начин.
