Наving previously explained the meaning of the concept „factivity“
and its importance for the development of syntactic investigations, the author
has pointed up to new possibilities it gives for better understanding of
some Slavic syntactic phenomena. First of all, the author has here dwelled
upon the „factive“ interpretation of aspectual pairs of Slavic predicates
which belong to the group known as „verbs of manipulation“, pointing at the consequences which that interpretation can have in the fields of sуntax and general semantics. Сonsideration has then been given to some
specific cases concerned with the formation of Slavic sentence whose main
predicate is, first, some verb of the counterfactive type and, second, some
verb of the nonfactive type. The specific grammatical behaviour of the
Serbo-Croatian translational equivalent of the English interrogative word
zohy has also been brought to the readers' notice.
