Cooling of powders of thirty metals which can be atomized by the rotating electrode process was theoretically considered assuming that heat extraction from spherical droplets occurs during their flight through the helium inert atmosphere. Cooling times and solidification path lengths as well as the cooling rates were numerically calculated for the particle diameter range 50 — 600 μm, and initial velocity range 10.5 — 50 m/s.
