Песма за ‘Нову' Европу: бивше југословенске републике на Песми Евровизије

Abstract

Последњу деценију XX века обележиле су бројне промене у централној и источној Европи, које су означиле коначан колапс социјалистичких режима и распад федеративних савеза република, као и почетак политичког и културног уједињења Истока и Запада Европе. У том контексту, појам ‚Нове’ Европе јавља се као означитељ нове, посткомунистичке европске констелације земаља. Ослањајући се на мишљење да је такмичење за Песму Евровизије један од најбољих примера новог европејства на делу и да се на тој сцени очитују економске, политичке и друге промене у Европи, настојали смо да разјаснимо позицију СФР Југославије на овом такмичењу, те да сагледамо прве наступе република које су настале након њеног распада. Дакле, испитали смо на који начин су се оне представиле европском аудиторијуму и којим музичким и ванмузичким средствима су започеле свој процес европејизације на највећем европском музичком фестивалу.

A new chapter in modern European history starts in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall. This was the event that, symbolically at first and then in practice, signified unification of European West and East. The last decade of XX century was marked as the time of the demise of the state socialism arising from the revolutions in central and Eastern Europe, which led to collapse of federative unions such as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. Since its foundation in 1956, and especially after 1989, Eurovision Song Contest was the place where “changing realities of Europe were being played out” (Fricker, Gluhovic, 2013). Furthermore, ESC was always a unique representative of the idea of European ‘unity in diversity’ – numerous countries could, in a way, contribute with their national culture and help building European musical and cultural identity. Having taken that into account, the aim of this paper was to examine the position SFR Yugoslavia had in this competition before 1991, and to determine the nature of musical and non-musical aspects of the first appearances of successor states. Consequently, we could look into different and divergent strategies that Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Serbia, and Montenegro had in starting a process of Europeanisation.
