On the adverbial modification of the verbal predicate

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to put modification phenomena under a new perspective. The author would like to suggest that there is good reason for a clear distinction between instances when the given modification concerns (A) the whole meaning of the verbal predicate; (B) one of its constitutive parts; (C) its entailment. Recourse to these concepts is both necessary and useful, since it enriches our understanding of the phenomena under scrutinity and enables us to enlight with more precision the principles which regulate the speaker's choice of the appropriate form of the modifier.

U ovom je radu predložen nov pristup fenomenu priloške determinacije glagolskog predikata, takav koji bi dosledno vodno računa o odnosu obima ostvarenog determinativnog zahvata i semantičke sadržine determinisane reči. Odredba se, najme, može neposredno ticati ili (A) te sadržine u celini, ili (B) jedne njene konstitutivne komponente, ili (V) onoga što ta sadržina, kao takva, sobom neizbežno implicira. Osvrćući se na neke srpske jezičke datosti autor objašnjava zbog čega je ovakvo gledanje na stvari ne samo teorijski opravdano, nego i korisno - doprinosi unapređivanju gramatičkog opisa konkretnih jezika.
