The inaugural conference of the Central European Music
Research Group in the Musicology Department
at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
An event of the Bartók World Competition 2023
Budapest, 8–9 September 2023.
In this paper I will discuss the life and work of a remarkable Serbian composer of
Czech origin, Ludmila Frajt, married Franović (Czech: Ludmila Frajtová, 1919–
1999). My paper will address the issues of cultural and social interactions among
different ethnic groups in Serbia, the mobility of musicians, and a possible scope
and implications of a Central European musical identity.
