Репарација српских војних заробљеника из Османске империје после Првог светског рата

Abstract

У раду се, на основу необјављене архивске грађе, написа из штампе и релевантне литературе, елаборира питање репатрирања српских војних заробљеника са територије Османског царства након Великог рата. Борбена дејства српске војске са армијама Аустроугарске, Немачке и Бугарске током 1914. и 1915. године за последицу су имала, осим мноштва погинулих и рањених и велики број заробљеника, како војника, тако и цивила. Они су били интернирани у логоре на простору црно-жуте Монархије и Бугарске. Део њих, неколико хиљада, током 1917. и 1918. године, било је испоручено властима Османске империје које су их, надомештавајући мањак сопствене радне снаге, користиле за обављање тешких физичких послова широм царства. Није познато колико их је, услед лоших животних услова, исцрпљености, болести и физичке тортуре умрло или им се, пак, „изгубио траг”. Они који су дочекали крај рата били су предмет напора српских и југословенских државних органа да их пронађу и омогуће им повратак у отаџбину. Тај мукотрпни процес трајао је читаву деценију након рата и био скопчан са низом ограничења и потешкоћа.

Although during the First World War, the armies of the Kingdom of Serbia and the Ottoman Empire, as members of the opposing military blocks, never fought each other, on the basis of the secret agreements of the offi cial Vienna, Sofi a and Constantinople, from the Austro-Hungarian and Bulgarian prison camps to the Ottoman Empire in 1917 and 1918, several thousand Serbs were transferred. Th ey were deployed throughout the empire as a mere physical workforce in performing the most diffi cult tasks. At the end of the war, fi rst of all before the government of the Kingdom of Serbia, and then the authorities of the newly formed Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians, the urgent issue of organizing their search and return was raised. Th ese activities took place with a lot of diffi culty, followed by numerous limitations that arose from the chaotic circum stances in which the Ottoman Empire found itself aft er the war, the lack of adequate documentation (lists, etc.), complicated traffi c communications, etc. Much of them, under such circumstances, led by the self-sustaining instinct, drove in various ways to accommodate Carigrad, Smirna or other seaports, from where they would lend greater prospects for returning home. As to how many of them were included in the repatriation process, how many of them were deceased, or, owing to the newly emerging circumstances, the rest persisted to live in Turkey, there are no precise data. Also, it is not known how many monetary and material resources the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes has invested in repatriation. According to the available data, the repatriation process was offi cially closed in early 1929.
