Категоријалне речи шта и што у текстовима Вука С. Караџића : онтолошки или логичкојезички приступ

Abstract

У раду се, најпре, образлаже увид да су шта и што две различите категоријалне речи српскога језика, са вредностима утврђевдш у трочланој структури коју чине два опозита и једна јединица неутрална на њихову разлику: ко „људско /биће/“ шта „не-људско /биће/“ - што „небиће“. Следи целина у којој се представља изразито неуједначена заступљеност категоријалних речи шта и што у текстовима В. Караџића (распон од 29 шта: 24 што до 6 шта: 80 што). Као основни узрок тако изражене колебљивости у употреби речи шта и што препознаје се колебљивост разлике између оног што те речи категоришу („биће“ - ,,небиће“), а указује се и на вероватан утицај лексикографског представљања и граматичког тумачења аналогне категорије у другим језицима, који на месту српског пара шта - што имају по једну реч (руско что, немачко was, латинско quid и сл.).

The first section of the paper explains that šta and što are two distinct categorical words in the Serbian language whose values are determined by a tripartite structure similar to syllogism, with two opposing units and one unit neutral to the distinction between them: ko "human being /being/" / šta ,,non-human /being/“ - što "nonbeing". It is followed by a discussion which seeks to highlight from various perspectives (chronological, normative grammatical, lexicographic) a distinctiy uneven distribution of the categorial words ta and &to in Vuk Karadžić’s texts. This 1s best illustrated by the difference in the number of instances, which range from 29 šta: 24 što (in five folk tales, 1853) to 6 šta: 80 što (in the text Serbs, All and Everywhere). Two possible reasons for this entirely unusual phenomenon may be identified: (1) the vague relationship between the categorial words šta and što is certainly related to the vague distinction between the categories designated by them ("being" and "non-being"); (2) the lexicographic presentation of the two multiply related categorial words certainly entails the influence of the understanding and presentation of an analogous category in other languages: it 15 a fact that in other languages the Serbian categorial pair šta — što is paralleled by a single categorial word (Russian chto, German was, Latin quid, etc.). Along with a possible influence of the Russo-Slavic language, this extralinguistic factor could have contributed to the generalization of the form &to in the texts authored by Vuk Karadžić with the tendency to neutralize the distinction between the "being" and the "non-being".

In order to offer a more complex explanation of the routes through which the distinction between the ,,being“ and the "non-being" could have been shaped in the Serbian language, the paper also cites ancient Greek (Plato’s and Aristotle’s) teachings on the "being" ("nonbeing" / "non-being").
