The paper analyses three types of personal names in the microtoponymy of
the Jablanica region. The study is based on the division of personal names into
full personal names, abbreviated personal names and personal hypocoristics. The relation between male and female personal names has been established in
microtoponymy. Moreover, the frequency of the three mentioned types of personal
names present in microtoponymy has been examined.
The origin-based classification of the full male personal names has led to the
following conclusion: twenty three (23) male personal names are of the Slavic
origin; one (1) personal name derives from the general Slavic appellative of the
Indo-E uropean origin; fifteen (15) names were taken over from Greek, five (5)
names were taken over from Hebrew through Greek, three (3) names were taken
over from Latin and one (1) name from Armenian, which is the total of 24 names
which were completely incorporated into the Serbian appellation system by the
pro...cess of phonetic and morphological adaptation; three (3) names were taken over
from Arabic through the Turkish language; out of six (6) Muslim names, three (3)
were taken over from Arabic directly, two (2) from Arabic through Turkish and one
(1) from Persian through Arabic; six (6) names are of different foreign roots and
Serbian suffixes.
The female personal names in the microtoponymy of the studied materials are of
the Slavic origin.
