Слободан Јовановић и улога војног фактора у политичком животу Србије и југословенске краљевине (1903–1945)

Abstract

У раду се на основу необјављених и објављених архивских извора, као и релевантне историографске и мемоарске литературе, анализира однос Слободана Јовановића према улози војног фактора у политичком животу Краљевине Србије и југословенске државе и представља начин на који је у том релативно дугом временском периоду између Мајског пре- врата и краја Другог светског рата, односно победе револуције и успостављања сасвим новог поретка у земљи, Слободан Јовановић као један од водећих српских интелектуалаца гледао на изражену присутност како формалног тако и неформалног војног фактора у унутрашњим политичким збивањима.

Although Slobodan Jovanović was a high intellectual educated on liberal European traditions, his attitude to the military and the influence of the military factor in the political life of the country was multifaceted and by its nature ambiguous. His closeness with Dragutin Dimitrijević, and then his close cooperation with general and academic Živko Pavlović, made him an intellectual close to the military elite of national orientation on the scientific and social front. Disappointed with the internal order of the Yugoslav Kingdom and dissatisfied with its foreign policy shortly before the outbreak of World War II, he advocated radical changes that would occur after military intervention. Apparently impressed by the May Coup and the positive effects it had on the overall social transformation of the Kingdom of Serbia, he believed that the new arbitration of the military in internal political life could steer the Yugoslav state ship in a positive direction and thus make a sharp deviation from previous practice. which he considered to be multiple detrimental to state interests. On the one hand, as a prominent jurist, he considered such action a departure from constitutional frameworks and norms, while on the other he appreciated the role of the military in Serbian society, understanding its place and role in the political mentality of the Serbian national being, convinced that its physical, as well as the intellectual strength of the elite part of the officer corps in times of crisis and in the face of major international conflicts, with their determination and undisguised energy, play a crucial role both on the external and internal political plan.
