With more than 1300 onomastic data — microtoponyms, surnames, personal names,
hypocoristics, nicknames — that have been collected in 2001 in the village of Ostružanj,
the present paper provides a representative sample for Podgorina, a region in NW Serbia
which is especially interesting for dialectology because it belongs to the area where the
Common Slavic yat (*ě) still preserves its phonological identity as an [ẹ ].
