Севастијан (Самуило) Илијћ, писац 19. века

Abstract

У раду је дата биографија Севастијана Илијћа, следбеника Доситеја Обрадовића и сарадника Вука Караџића и Лукијана Мушицког. Анализирано је његово дело: поезија, проза, сакупљање народних умотворина (пословице) и издавање дела Доситеја Обрадовића. Посебно је поменуто Илијћево сакупљање претплате на српске књиге. На крају је дата библиографија радова Севастијана (Самуила) Илијћа.

Sevastijan Ilijć, as a follower of Dositej Obradović and Vuk Karadžić, marked the 19th century with his work. Upon completing his education, he worked as a teacher in Szentendre, Sombor, Szeged and Karlovac (Croatia), and as a professor of Th eology. Subsequent to entering the monastic order, he became a member of the consistory and the abbot of Gomirje and Hopovo monasteries. As a follower of Dositej he published his book Firstling (Prvenac) (Carlstadt, 1830), and not only wrote fables with a moral in prose and verse aft er Dositej’s fashion, but also furnished his cell in the monastery of Hopovo. He wrote eulogy and philosophical poems, collected folk proverbs and sayings and collaborated with Vuk Karadžić. Since 1820, he had been collecting words, riddles and proverbs. He published some of the proverbs in Novine srpske (Serbian Papers) in 1820, and had been trying in vain to publish them in book form from 1824 to 1850. He carried on a correspondence with Vuk Karadžić and Lukijan Mušicki.
