AB - The YouTube channel “Serbian Composers” was founded in 2012 by four musicology students from Belgrade. As the first page dedicated to both art music and applied music of Serbian composers on this popular video-sharing website, over the past 11 years this channel has shown itself to be an excellent platform for the promotion, multi-media archiving, research, digitalization, and preservation of Serbian music. The founders of the channel—nowadays active researchers in the field—recognized the potential of YouTube for applied musicological work and worked diligently on making this channel the most reliable online source for anyone interested in Serbian composers and their works. In this article, we elaborate on what working on this channel throughout the years has entailed. We cover the realities of both the social media and internet presence of one such endeavor and situate the research in the domain of seeing YouTube as an informal multimedia archive. We also discuss the ongoing processes of collecting music and data, digitalization and preservation, selection and categorization, and the presentation of material on YouTube and other relevant social media platforms.

Upravo njihovi (pra)unici i (pra)unuke čine
treću i četvrtu generaciju.
tokom 2020. godine pokažemo prisutne oblike identifikacije pripadnika treće i četvrte
generacije potomaka srpskih radnih migranata.
procese integracije i transnacionalnih veza naše ciljne grupe. Zbog vanrednog stanja
izazvanog pandemijom korona virusa, istraživanje je sprovedeno anketno i online uz
pomoć Google upitnika, dok je uzorkovanje bilo neprobabilističko i eksponencijalno
nediskriminativno.
AB - This paper focuses on the integration of the third and fourth generations of
descendants of Serbian migrant workers residing in Vienna, Austria. This immigrant
community emerged as a result of the influx of Serbian guest workers who
have been moving to Austria for temporary employment since the end of World
War II. The third and fourth generations consist of their (great) grandchildren.
The objective of this study is to examine the current state of their integration,
based on the findings of research undertaken in 2020. Somehow paradoxically,
we explore the following research question: to what extent are the third and
fourth generation descendants of migrants, who were born and raised in Austria,
integrated into the socio-cultural and political system of Austria, given that they
are still perceived as ‘persons of migrant origin’?
In this study, we re-evaluate the concept of integration, which tends to essentialise
national identity, and emphasise the dynamic nature of the integration
process and the transnational connections of our target group. Due to the
COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting state of emergency, the research was
conducted online using Google surveys. We employed non-probabilistic and
exponentially non-discriminatory sampling, utilising the ‘snowball’ sampling
approach. A total of 73 individuals participated in the survey, which comprised 12 sections with 70 open and closed questions. Of the participants, 43.8% were
men, 50.68% women, and 5.47% did not declare their gender.
We adopted four criteria under which to analyse the integration processes
based on the collected data and the responses of our respondents: cultural,
structural, social, and emotional. The cultural factor refers to the acquisition
of knowledge and skills, such as language proficiency and understanding of
social norms. Structural integration involves the positioning and participation
of migrants in key aspects of the host society, particularly the job market. Social
integration encompasses interactions and connections with the local community
and other groups, including marriage, friendships, and interactions beyond
one’s own ethnic group. Lastly, emotional integration relates to elements of
identification, a sense of belonging, and the various ways in which immigrants
maintain connections with their own cultural group.
We view integration as a dynamic and interactive phenomenon influenced
by three parties: the country of origin (Serbia), the immigrants themselves, and
their descendants. Thus, we investigate all three factors, while frequently highlighting
intergenerational disparities in the integration process. In addition to the
concept of integration, we incorporate contemporary interpretations of transnationality
in this study, demonstrating that even members of the third and fourth
generations of Serbian labour migrants maintain strong cultural ties and utilise
cultural elements from both their ancestors’ country of origin (Serbia) and the
country in which they were born and raised (Austria). Ultimately, we conclude
that they are equally integrated into both the Serbian immigrant population in
Austria and the society of their origin country, while maintaining significant
transnational and emotional connections with Serbia.

AB - The paper presents a summary of the scientific findings so far, based on research for the purposes of the exhibition "Jugo, my Jugo - guest worker stories" on the one hand, and projects of the Ethnological and Anthropological Society of Serbia, on the other hand. Starting from the terminological and semantic definition of the term guest worker, through the definition of four generations of this migrant group, the paper further discusses the structuring of habitus within the cultural system of guest workers. The fundamental theses presented in the paper are: 1) guest workers are a specific group of migrants with their own cultural identity; 2) the term guest worker in the scientific discourse has no negative connotations or pejorative meanings; 3) the processes of socialization and construction of habitus play a significant role in the shaping and further use of cultural norms in maintaining the cultural group of guest workers.

AB - Non-aligned dilettantes (Nesvrstani diletantni) are an amateur migrant
theater troupe from Vienna, made up of Serbian guest workers
(Gastarbeiter) from various republics of the former Yugoslavia. They
were formed in 2014 on the initiative of Darko Markov ‒ writer, poet,
actor, director, and taxi driver, who gathered acquaintances to perform
his performances. Non-aligned dilettantes perform plays about
their cultural group, while their audience consists of members of the
same group. So, they make performances about themselves and for
themselves. This paper aims to present and interpret theatrical performances
of Serbian guest workers from Vienna as a type of ethnography
performed in the form of a dramatic text and “artistic mirror”
that actors put in front of the public for self- reflective insights. For
this paper, I conducted qualitative field research in Vienna, using the
techniques of semi-structured interviews, observations, and non-formal
conversations. Due to the circumstances caused by the coronavirus,
I conducted part of the research in the form of a survey using
a Google questionnaire. Another source of information is newspaper
articles, in which members of the theater mentioned above troupe talk
about their plays. In analytical terms, I rely on the theories of Victor
Turner and especially Richard Schechner. After a brief presentation of
migrant troops, Non-Aligned Dilettantes, and their performances, I will
use Schechner’s model to analyze social and artistic drama, which he
calls the horizontally numeral 8 or infinity symbol. I view the performances
of this artistic troupe as dramatic ethnographies, which enable
the anthropologist to look over the shoulders of the actors at all those elements from the everyday life of guest workers, which are not easy to
notice with classical techniques of qualitative anthropological research.

AB - In this paper I offer a concise analysis of contemporary scholarship on esotericism in
the countries of former Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. After a brief historical contextualization,
I examine the development and principal features of this scholarship over the
last three decades. My main argument is that, due to various historical reasons, there
is a stark discrepancy between the abundant presence of esoteric ideas and practices
in these countries and the extent of specialized scholarship dealing with them. I also
suggest that there is an uneven development of esotericism studies across the region,
but that these studies are gradually finding their place in South Slavic academia.

AB - The research on the historical currents of the Observant reform, its diffu-sion in the earliest stages, as well as its periodical local and global revivals throughout the following two centuries, is inextricably linked to the study of the promotion of cults of saints. Building on the types of sainthood pre-ferred by and partially formed in Mendicant circles (notably living saints, but also local saints), the Observant friars supported veneration of their contemporaries, creating thus an array of local beati whose cults frequent-ly gained wider recognition. This paper is examining the appearance and diffusion of saints’ cults among the reformed Dominican order in the southeastern Adriatic, that is, in the territory of Dubrovnik and Kotor from the first reformist attempts at the end of the fourteenth century to the Observant efforts united with the post-Tridentine ambience in the later sixteenth century. In addition to crucial texts by Serafino Razzi (who also described devotional objects and images), the analysis is mainly conducted.

First, his role in Lexicography department of RSA (which he was a member
of) is considered. The entire Vulović’s literary and scientific work provide material
for creation of Serbian thesaurus. Then, his essays which belong to various
fields of language science are classified and presented. Lexicon was considered
in most of his essays, while grammatical topics are present in only few of them.
He used to write stylistical critique, and in his studies of writers he was paying a
lot of attention to language.

AB - The study aims to explore the factors underlying the non-canonical postnominal positioning of adnominal modifiers in the noun phrasе in the Gurbet Romani variety spoken in Еаstern Serbia. The noun phrases are excerpted from the Knjaževac Gurbet Romani corpus, which consists of adults’ and children’s samples of transcribed oral narratives. The quantitative analysis shows that the prenominal position of modifiers is the default one, given the low frequency of postposed modifiers in the adults’ and children’s samples (3.7% and 1.3%, respectively). The main part of the study is focused on the reasons for the non-canonical positioning of modifiers in the NP, and points towards several pragmatic factors as relevant for the postnominal positioning: the contrastive and information focus and stylistic effects.

AB - The subject of the work was the analysis of some grammatical and lexical features of the festive epistles of the Serbian Orthodox Church, a special genre of religious discourse. The texts of the epistles mostly contain general vocabulary, which is understandable to all speakers of the Serbian language. The characteristic of the epistle as a genre of religious discourse is the use of special linguistic means which achieve the main goal of these texts, that is conveying a sublime and edifying message on the occasion of the greatest Christian holidays – Christmas and Easter. The analysis of the inventory of the used lexemes showed, first of all, that nouns are the dominant type of words in the texts of this character, and that there are also numerous adjectives used in the service of epithets. One of the most important features of the language of the Epistles is the use of the participle ending in -ći, which is, after all, a feature of the religious discourse in general. An important part of the lexicon of the festive epistles is made up of compounds created by different creative patterns, through which these texts are given a sublime, festive character. This type of lexicon was inherited from the old Church Slavonic period and is a feature of the holiday epistles among other Orthodox Slavic nations as well. The epistles also contain a lexicon which indicates important social topics for that period, that are intertwined with the representations from the life of Christ given in the New Testament.
AB - The paper will analyze a number of grammatical and lexical features of the festive epistles of the Serbian Orthodox
Church, published in the last ten years, as a special genre of the religious discourse. By analyzing the inventory of
lexical units, we will determine the specifics of the language of the epistles, taking into account the fact that these texts
are addressed to priesthood and monks, as well as to the widest circle of believers of the Serbian Orthodox Church, of
different education and social status, which is why they should be clear and understandable. On the other hand, epistles
must, by their very nature, also contain lexis of a religious and theological character, in order to convey a sublime and
edifying message. Based on the linguistic inventory of epistles the aim of our research is to determine the specific grammatical
and lexical characteristics of this genre, as well as the relationship of the lexicon of this genre and the language
of everyday communication.

the attention of linguists, lexicographers, and the media. Although they are not based strictly on lin‑

AB - Fermented foods containing psychobiotics are of growing interest among food scientists. Human-derived Limosilactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938, a gut symbiont and potential psychobiotic strain, has been shown to exhibit the following health benefits: anti-inflammation and GABA-production capacity, as well as modulation of pathogen and cancer cell growth. The aim of this research was to develop an acid-coagulated fresh soft quark-type cheese, fermented with L. reuteri DSM 17938, with enhanced bioactivity, sensory acceptability, and overall likeability. Psychobiotic-containing cheeses represent the food of a new generation, so it is of great importance to gain the trust of the consumers. To develop a familiar taste, cheese samples were enriched with mushroom powders of Agaricus bisporus and Pleurotus ostreatus. A high abundance of lactic acid bacteria was maintained in all cheese samples (>log 7.64 CFU/mL), while cheese extracts exhibited cytotoxicity to colon cancer cell line HCT116 (up to 30.96%) in vitro. Additionally, cheese samples provided a favorable medium for the growth of the probiotic Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (>log 7.11 CFU/mL). Sensory evaluation revealed high scores for all samples (up to 97.21% of maximum overall quality). The survey conducted in this study offered insights into consumer willingness to try products containing psychobiotics. This study demonstrates the potential for the successful development of fermented food products with L. reuteri DSM 17938, which exhibits all the desired traits that consumers may receive well. Further research is required to explore the potential health benefits of these innovative food products.

AB - Zirconium carbide ceramics were prepared by carbothermal reduction of ZrO2 and C that were mixed by high-energy ball milling. Powders were milled for times from 0 to 120 min in air. As milling time increased, the surface area of the powders increased, indicating significant particle size reduction. Milled powders were reacted at 1600 °C and then densified by spark plasma sintering at 2000 °C, which was sufficient to convert the starting powders to zirconium carbide. Unmilled powders did not reach full density. Milled powders reached full density, but ZrO2 impurities were found for specimens prepared from powders milled for 60 and 120 min. Microstructure analysis showed that grain size was less than 2 µm for ceramics produced from powder milled for 15 min. Based on densification onset temperature and impurity levels, a milling time of 15 min gives the best balance of particle size reduction to promote densification while minimizing impurity levels.

AB - The Folk Dance Group “Bánát” was established in the village Deszk in South-eastern Hungary in
1948 as a way of preserving and empowering the identity of the Serbian minority. As a result of the
dynamic processes of its socio-political and cultural surroundings in Hungarian, “Bánát” experienced various shifts in ideological and performative strategies. Consequently, the current agency of “Bánát” includes various ways of presenting and performing Serbian cultural heritage, such as: 1) the stage performance of traditional dances, 2) the leadership of the Serbian táncház (lit: dance houses), 3) attendance and performance at the Serbian Balls, and 4) revival of the rituals.

AB - Persicaria amphibia (subfam. Polygonoideae), an aquatic macrophyte rich in dietary polyphenolics, is used as a traditional remedy and culinary herb. Nevertheless, P. amphibia from the Balkan region has been insufficiently studied and underutilized. Here, the cytotoxicity and antimicrobial properties of the previously chemically characterised ethanol extract of P. amphibia aerial parts were tested. The following methods were carried out: the MTT assay, qRT-PCR, microdilution assay, Chromobacterium violaceum screening assay (monitoring of quorum sensing, QS) and the agar plating method (antifungal activity). The study was conducted to determine the cytotoxic effects of P. amphibia against lung cancer cells (A549) and its combination with cytostatic doxorubicin (Dox). A dose-dependent decrease in cell viability (up to 82% reduction) and additive interactions of the tested agents were noted. Both alone and combined with Dox, P. amphibia reduced the expression of Nrf2 (p < 0.05). In terms of antimicrobial effects, P. amphibia exhibited an antipathogenic effect since it disrupted QS communication, which was evident through the inhibition of violacein production of C. violaceum CV025. The antifungal screening revealed that P. amphibia induced significant growth inhibition of Aspergillus spp. (28.23%). Based on the obtained results, further examination of the potential use of P. amphibia in modern phytotherapy and diet-derived cancer chemoprevention is encouraged.

AB - Recently, many studies have shown various beneficial effects of polyphenol resveratrol (Res) on human health. The most important of these effects include cardioprotective, neuroprotective, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, osteoinductive, and anti-microbial effects. Resveratrol has cis and trans isoforms, with the trans isoform being more stable and biologically active. Despite the results of in vitro experiments, resveratrol has limited potential for application in vivo due to its poor water solubility, sensitivity to oxygen, light, and heat, rapid metabolism, and therefore low bioavailability. The possible solution to overcome these limitations could be the synthesis of resveratrol in nanoparticle form. Accordingly, in this study, we have developed a simple, green solvent/non-solvent physicochemical method to synthesize stable, uniform, carrier-free resveratrol nanobelt-like particles (ResNPs) for applications in tissue engineering. UV–visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) was used to identify the trans isoform of ResNPs which remained stable for at least 63 days. The additional qualitative analysis was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), while X-ray diffraction (XRD) determined the monoclinic structure of resveratrol with a significant difference in the intensity of diffraction peaks between commercial and nano-belt form. The morphology of ResNPs was evaluated by optical microscopy and field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) that revealed a uniform nanobelt-like structure with an individual thickness of less than 1 μm. Bioactivity was confirmed using Artemia salina in vivo toxicity assay, while 2,2–diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazylhydrate (DPPH) reduction assay showed the good antioxidative potential of concentrations of 100 μg/ml and lower. Microdilution assay on several reference strains and clinical isolates showed promising antibacterial potential on Staphylococci, with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) being 800 μg/ml. Bioactive glass-based scaffolds were coated with ResNPs and characterized to confirm coating potential. All of the above make these particles a promising bioactive, easy-to-handle component in various biomaterial formulations.

All of the above make these particles a promising bioactive, easy-to-handle component in various biomaterial formulations.",

AB - Ion beam modification of materials is notable method for achieving their unique structural, electronic, and other physicochemical properties. In the case of graphene oxide (GO) such modification of structure and surface chemistry is known to yield properties interesting for electrochemical supercapacitors. The performance of GO supercapacitors can be additionally improved by incorporating components with attractive redox properties. In this work, the influence of ion beam irradiation on synergy of GO and 12-tungstophosphoric acid (WPA) in their nanocomposite was investigated. For that, both components and their composites with different mass ratios were irradiated using different ion species, fluences and energies (from 10 keV C to 710 MeV Bi). For the irradiated WPA, results showed clear correlation between ion beam parameters, degree of structural modification and electrochemical properties. With increasing structural modification, bond breaking is first induced giving higher catalytic activity toward HER. Further irradiation resulted in an increased interconnection of polytungstate species producing lower catalytic activity and lower lithiation capacity. Irradiated GO showed modified surface chemistry, with preferable reduction of alkoxy and epoxy groups, changes in morphology and electric properties due to increased number of defects with increasing fluence, synergic effect of ion beam irradiated GO and WPA resulted in higher capacitance of irradiated composites compared to GO presumably because of interaction of structurally modified WPA with defect sites on GO thus reducing electrolyte flow along ion tracks.

AB - The crystal growth rate of LiGe2(PO4)3 phase from lithium germanium-phosphate glass was studied. The glass have been homogenized using the previously established temperature-time conditions, which make it possible to remove volatile substances from the glass melt. The atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) was used to determine the chemical content of the obtained glass and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to reveal the isothermal process of crystal growth. The crystal growth rates were determined experimentally and theoretically.

AB - Regenerative medicine (RM) exploits the innate potential of the human body to effectively repair and regenerate damaged tissues and organs with the help of various biomaterials. Tissue engineering (TE) makes it possible to replace damaged tissues and organs with new ones. Research in the field of biomaterials has significantly improved the area of RM and TE. Biomaterials are used as orthopedic, dental, cardiovascular implants, medical devices, in the fields of reconstructive and regenerative medicine, among others. Important preconditions for the biomaterial to be used for implantation are its biocompatibility and biofunctionality. Biomaterials should enable adhesion, migration, proliferation and differentiation of cells. The biological properties of biomaterials are a reflection of their physicochemical properties, such as internal architecture, surface characteristics and charge. Biomaterials used in tissue regeneration should mimic the natural structure of the extracellular matrix and represent a physiological microenvironment for normal cellular functions. These biomaterials should also have adequate biodegradability properties to facilitate the formation and growth of new tissue. Biomaterials for use in RM can be of natural or synthetic origin, polymers by structural properties, ceramic and composite type, and based on bioreactivity they can be bioinert or bioactive. In RM and TE, polymers of different classes, natural and synthetic, are used, which can be made as intelligent materials. The structure of hydrogels in the form of a porous network represents a good matrix for cell activity. Ceramic biomaterials based on hydroxyapatite (HAp) are selected for use in RM and TE, especially solid tissues. Properties, such as composition, particle size, material shape, porosity, surface charge, topography, etc., are relevant for the proper use of HAp materials. The properties of HAp allow modification of its structure, surface, particle size design at the micro and nano level, hybridization with polymers, metals, etc. which is very important for its applications. Designed micro-nanohybrid HAp structure is most similar to the bone structure, making the cell environment closest to natural. Bone tissue engineering (BTE) is based on the combined use of cells, osteostimulating (osteoinductive) factors and biomaterials as a scaffolds and carriers for bone regeneration and defects repair. In BTE adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) are often used that are induced in vitro towards osteogenic cells or endothelial cells, and freshly isolated stromal vascular fraction can also be used. Blood components (PRP, blood plasma or blood clot) can be included in the composition of the BTE construct as a source of osteoinductive factors. In vitro models and methods were used to examine the biocompatibility, immunomodulatory and regenerative potential of biomaterials, as well as their influence on cellular functions. After in vitro methods, and before clinical studies, various in vivo animal models are used to examine the regenerative potential of biomaterials, such as subcutaneous implantations and bone defects in tibia, femur and calvaria in experimental animals (mouse, rat, rabbit).

AB - An anthocyanin-rich blue maize waste product was used for anthocyanin extraction. To preserve bioactive phenolic compounds, a spray-drying technique was employed using conventional wall material maltodextrin (MD), with novel one, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HPBCD). The obtained spray-dried maize extract (SME) and microencapsulates were analyzed based on physicochemical powder properties, chemical analysis, antioxidant activity, and digestibility. The examined microencapsulates demonstrated good powder properties, exhibited a high powder yield (up to 83%), and had a low moisture content (less than 5%). HPBCD and MD + HPBCD combinations demonstrated superior powder properties in the terms of decreasing the time necessary for rehydration (133.25 and 153.8 s, respectively). The mean average particle diameter ranged from 4.72 to 21.33 µm. DSC analyses signified high powder thermal stability, around 200 °C, related to the increasing preservation with biopolymer addition. The total phenolic and anthocyanin compounds ranged from 30,622 to 32,211 mg CE/kg (CE—catechin equivalents) and from 9642 to 12,182 mg CGE/kg (CGE—cyanidin 3-glucoside equivalents), respectively, associated with good bioactive compound protection. Microencapsulates with both carriers (15% MD and 15% HPBCD) had the highest digestibility (73.63%). Our results indicated that the microencapsulates created with the active ingredient and the wall materials (MD and HPBCD) could protect phenolic compounds/anthocyanins against ABTS radicals (63.53 and 62.47 mmol Trolox Eq/kg, respectively).
