Impact of the COVID-19 restrictive measures on urban traffic-related air pollution in Serbia

AB  - This study has analyzed the traffic-related change in atmospheric pollutants levels (PM2.5, PM10, CO, NO2, SO2, and O3) caused by the COVID-19 restrictive measures, based on traffic ground-based stations data in urban areas in Serbia. The possible influence of several meteorological factors (temperature, wind, pressure, and humidity), and mobility on the pollutants’ levels were also considered. The obtained results showed a positive correlation of daily NO2 concentrations with mobility and its significant reduction during restrictive measures at all selected monitoring stations. The reduction of NO2 was higher than in other countries (71.1–111.5% for measured, and 49.3–92.6% for ‘deweathered’ data), indicating a high traffic impact on NO2 levels in Serbia. The PM, CO, and SO2 showed a weak correlation with mobility during the period with restrictive measures, which, besides traffic, indicates the significant influence of other sources of their concentration. The O3 concentrations were increased at all measuring stations and are negatively correlated to mobility. Comparison of pollutant concentrations during restriction with the equivalent period in preceding years showed reductions in NO2 and SO2 concentrations. However, compared to previous years, the concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, and CO increased in the period with restrictive measures, indicating lower sensitivity to population mobility and higher dependence on other emission sources. The findings suggest the justification for the use of traffic reduction strategies to improve air quality.

AB  - In the calendars of Eastern Christian churches, the Early Christian martyrs Hermylos
and Stratonikos of Belgrade – deacon Hermylos and prison guard Stratonikos
– are commemorated on 13 January and 1 or 2 June. They were martyred under
Emperor Licinius (308–324), probably in 315, by being put in a woven basket and
thrown into the Danube. Three days later, their bodies resurfaced by the river and
were found by pious Christians, who buried them at a “rock-hewn site” or possibly in
a “place made of stone” located, as their Passio states with unusual precision, eighteen
miles from Singidunum. At some point, probably in the mid-fifth century, their relics
were translated to the Byzantine capital, where the two saints were highly venerated
and from whence their cult spread both in the territory under Byzantine domination
and the Slavic lands that had adopted Christianity from the capital on the Bosporus.
The earthly remains of Hermylos and Stratonikos seem to have been moved to Constantinople
due to the devastating Hun invasions of the Balkans (441/2). The fact that
their relics were translated to Constantinople amid those barbarian invasions suggests
that their cult emerged early on. The earliest martyrologies, however, make no mention
of the Belgrade martyrs.
The text of their Passio, likely compiled already in the sixth century, testifies that the
cult of Hermylos and Stratonikos was established in the Early Byzantine period. Despite
its modest historical value, this pre-Metaphrastian, elegantly worded piece of
hagiography served as the source for compiling a long panegyric in praise of the Belgrade
martyrs. Like the Passio, this text is also divided into ten chapters, but the dialogues
between the saints and their torturer have been considerably elaborated. A
vita of Hermylos and Stratonikos was also edited by the learned Byzantine redactor of
hagiographic writings Symeon Metaphrastes. Based on his version of the vita of the
Belgrade martyrs, their abbreviated hagiography was prepared for the imperial menologion
commissioned by Michael IV the Paphlagonian (1034–1041). Besides hagiographic
writings, hymnographic texts constitute another relevant group of sources
that provide further evidence about the extraordinary veneration of Hermylos and
Stratonikos in the Byzantine capital. Admittedly, there is no known (or surviving)
kontakion dedicated to them, but several kanons were written in their honor. The authors
of those kanons were prominent Constantinopolitan poets of the ninth century:
George, identified as George, Metropolitan of Nicomedia (ca. 860), deacon and chartophylax
of Hagia Sophia; and Joseph the Hymnographer (ca. 816 – ca. 886), whose
names are given in acrostic, as per the established custom. Joseph’s kanon, chanted in
Constantinopolitan monasteries, was translated into the Slavic languages. The sources
that attest to the cult of the Belgrade martyrs also include their mentions in the Synaxarion
of Constantinople and the synaxarion part of the Typikon of the Great Church
(Hagia Sophia) – remarkably important liturgical texts that received their final form
in the tenth century. Both inform us that the memory of the Belgrade martyrs was
held twice a year, in January and June, when a synaxis in their honor was performed
in multiple churches in the capital. The memory of the Belgrade martyrs appears in
the verse-calendar by Christopher of Mytilene (ca. 1000 – after 1050 or after 1068),
and they were also eulogized by the prominent Constantinopolitan poet Theodore
Prodromos (ca. 1100 – ca. 1165/70). Finally, we know that around 1200, the skulls
of Hermylos and Stratonikos were kept in the sanctuary of Hagia Sophia, along with
many other of the city’s relics. It was there that the Russian pilgrim Dobrynya Yadreikovich,
later the Archbishop of Novgorod Anthony, paid homage to them. His valuable
text is, however, the only source that reports the existence of the Belgrade martyrs’
relics in the capital on the Bosporus. It seems likely that they disappeared from the
city during the Crusader conquest of Constantinople in 1204. Some relics of Hermylos
and Stratonikos were presumably kept in the churches that held synaxes on their
feast days. The fact that celebratory liturgical rites in honor of the Belgrade martyrs
were performed twice a year, on 13 January and 1 June, seems to suggest that the Constantinopolitan
church calendar commemorated both the day of their martyrdom and
the day of the translation of their relics. However, all of these data are chronologically
very far removed from the time when Hermylos and Stratonikos fell for the faith
and date from the period when the Typikon of the Great Church and the Synaxarion
of Constantinople received their final form. Although succinct, the information preserved
in these important liturgical writings bears witness to the extraordinary veneration
of the Belgrade martyrs in the Byzantine capital. The earliest known manuscript
of the Typikon of the Great Church is the one in the library of the Monastery
of Saint John the Theologian on the island of Patmos. This document is believed to
have been written ca. 900, probably at a Palestinian monastery. Its entry for 13 January
reads: Ἄθλησις τῶν ἁγίων μαρτύρων Ἑρμύλου καὶ Στρατονίκου ἐπὶ Λικιννίου τοῦ
βασιλέως. The entry for 1 June, in addition to the names of the two Belgrade martyrs,
listed as the last memory of the day, also specifies the place where their commemoration
was held – ἐν τοῦ Πόσεως. Orthographic errors suggest that the scribe
was unfamiliar with Constantinopolitan toponyms. There can be little doubt that this
was, in fact, a reference to a Constantinopolitan quarter located within the city walls,
possibly to the northeast of the Church of the Holy Apostles. The Church of Archangel
Michael is known to have stood in this neighborhood. According to the Jerusalem
copy of the Typikon of the Great Church, written in the second half of the tenth
century and kept in the library of the Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem, the Belgrade
martyrs were commemorated in another Constantinopolitan church dedicated
to the archangel Michael – the one in the city quarter of Oxeia.

This manuscript names as many as three Constantinopolitan churches where the
memory of the Belgrade martyrs was held, two of them located in the vicinity of Hagia
Sophia. More specifically, their January synaxis was performed in the already mentioned
Church of Archangel Michael in Oxeia, and the June one in the same church,
the center of their cult, as well as in a church in Phirmoupolis and another one in
Spoudaioi, not far from the orphanage. The locality of “Posseos” mentioned in the
Patmos copy does not appear either in the Jerusalem one or any other transcription
of either the Typikon of the Great Church or the Synaxarion of Constantinople. However,
the special veneration of the Belgrade martyrs in the Church of Archangel Michael
in Oxeia is also confirmed in the Synaxation of Constantinople, which informs
us that this church commemorated the Belgrade martyrs on 2 June. The city quarter
in question was located on a slope that led from the grand bazaar of Constantinople to
the Golden Horn. Little is known about the second church that performed the synaxis
of Hermylos and Stratonikos, the church in Phirmoupolis, except that it was in the
European suburban part of the capital. The Typikon of the Great Church provides no
information about the patron of this church and mentions no other saints commemorated
there besides the Belgrade martyrs, but there is insufficient evidence at present
to determine whether the church was dedicated to them. To summarize, in the
mid-tenth century, the Belgrade martyrs were commemorated twice a year in at least
three Constantinopolitan churches, two of which were located in central city quarters.
Given that very few saints enjoyed such a high level of veneration in the capital,
this is very remarkable. It is unknown if their relics were kept in the church in Oxeia
and/or in another sacral building that held their synaxis. Similarly, there is no information
about the place whence their skulls arrived at Hagia Sophia.
Besides urban parochial churches, Hermylos and Stratonikos were celebrated in Constantinopolitan
monasteries, where they were commemorated once a year, on 12 rather
than 13 January, because the day of their usual commemoration coincided with
the afterfeast of Epiphany, as explained in the late eleventh-century synaxarion of the
Monastery of the Theotokos Evergetis. Hence Hermylos and Stratonikos were celebrated
together with Saint Tatiana of Rome, as the second memory of the day; on that
occasion, two stichera were sung in their honor at Vespers; Joseph’s kanon and a poetic
kathisma were sung and their synaxarion vita read at Orthros. This practice was,
no doubt, adopted from the older Stoudite Typikon, as attested by other Constantinopolitan
typika such as the Typikon of Patriarch Alexios Stoudites (1025–1043). By
the late 1060s or early 1070s, this typikon had been translated into Old Russian (Old
East Slavic), suggesting that the cult of Hermylos and Stratonikos made its way to
Russia via Constantinople. Hence, the celebration of Hermylos and Stratonikos on 12,
13 or, very rarely, 14 January came to be accepted in other areas, too. The well-known
typikon of the Monastery of Christ the Savior (Santissimo Salvatore) in Messina, Sicily
(1131), one of many that draw on the Stoudite Typikon, prescribes the commemoration
of the Belgrade martyrs on 13 January. However, the June memory of Hermylos
and Stratonikos did not completely disappear in the Italo-Byzantine milieu, and so

both dates appear in the eleventh- and twelfth-century menaia of the Abbey of Saint
Nilus in Grottaferrata. A well-known Palestinian-Georgian calendar from the tenth
century pushed the memory of Hermylos and Stratonikos to 14 January. On a Sinai
hexaptych from the late eleventh or early twelfth century, however, the Belgrade martyrs
were painted in the field for 13 January, which is also the case on other calendar
icons kept at the Sinai monastery. On the other hand, an under-researched Sinai
kanonarion dated to the ninth-tenth century lists Hermylos and Stratonikos under 1
June and prescribes dedicating the divine liturgy in their honor.
Both commemorations, in January and June (the latter much more rarely), are present
in the synaxaria and calendars of Slavic liturgical codices. Besides the abovementioned
translation of the Typikon of Alexios Stoudites, the January memory is found
in the menologion appended to the Gospel of Mstislav (late eleventh – early twelfth
century) and in the calendar of the Ohrid Apostolos from the late twelfth century.
The June memory appears in the Ostromir Gospels (1056–1057). However, there is
no mention of the two Belgrade martyrs in the oldest manuscript in the Serbian recension
of Old Slavonic, the menologion of the Miroslav Gospel from the 1180s. A
liturgical codex copied by the notable scribe Raboulas (Ῥαβουλᾶς) in the second half
of the fourteenth century, kept in the library of the Sinai monastery, lists the memory
of Hermylos and Stratonikos under 13 January as the only commemoration of the day.
Other textual and visual sources show that 13 January was also accepted in the Serbian
milieu as the date of their commemoration but that 1 June, directly adopted from
the Synaxarion of Constantinople, was not entirely dropped. Finally, the Typikon of
Archbishop Nikodim (1318–1319) records 13 January as their feast day, as do the
painted menologia of Serbian churches.
All of the above suggests that the cult of Hermylos and Stratonikos could not take
hold outside of the Byzantine capital, where their relics were kept and where the two
Belgrade martyrs certainly enjoyed a remarkable level of veneration. The memory of
Hermylos and Stratonikos in the Eastern Christian world was gradually reduced to a
single yearly commemoration (13 January) without a more substantial liturgical celebration,
and their representations in art were very uncommon.

kathisma were sung and their synaxarion vita read at Orthros. This practice was,
no doubt, adopted from the older Stoudite Typikon, as attested by other Constantinopolitan
typika such as the Typikon of Patriarch Alexios Stoudites (1025–1043). By
the late 1060s or early 1070s, this typikon had been translated into Old Russian (Old
East Slavic), suggesting that the cult of Hermylos and Stratonikos made its way to
Russia via Constantinople. Hence, the celebration of Hermylos and Stratonikos on 12,
13 or, very rarely, 14 January came to be accepted in other areas, too. The well-known
typikon of the Monastery of Christ the Savior (Santissimo Salvatore) in Messina, Sicily
(1131), one of many that draw on the Stoudite Typikon, prescribes the commemoration
of the Belgrade martyrs on 13 January. However, the June memory of Hermylos
and Stratonikos did not completely disappear in the Italo-Byzantine milieu, and so

both dates appear in the eleventh- and twelfth-century menaia of the Abbey of Saint
Nilus in Grottaferrata. A well-known Palestinian-Georgian calendar from the tenth
century pushed the memory of Hermylos and Stratonikos to 14 January. On a Sinai
hexaptych from the late eleventh or early twelfth century, however, the Belgrade martyrs
were painted in the field for 13 January, which is also the case on other calendar
icons kept at the Sinai monastery. On the other hand, an under-researched Sinai
kanonarion dated to the ninth-tenth century lists Hermylos and Stratonikos under 1
June and prescribes dedicating the divine liturgy in their honor.
Both commemorations, in January and June (the latter much more rarely), are present
in the synaxaria and calendars of Slavic liturgical codices. Besides the abovementioned
translation of the Typikon of Alexios Stoudites, the January memory is found
in the menologion appended to the Gospel of Mstislav (late eleventh – early twelfth
century) and in the calendar of the Ohrid Apostolos from the late twelfth century.
The June memory appears in the Ostromir Gospels (1056–1057). However, there is
no mention of the two Belgrade martyrs in the oldest manuscript in the Serbian recension
of Old Slavonic, the menologion of the Miroslav Gospel from the 1180s. A
liturgical codex copied by the notable scribe Raboulas (Ῥαβουλᾶς) in the second half
of the fourteenth century, kept in the library of the Sinai monastery, lists the memory
of Hermylos and Stratonikos under 13 January as the only commemoration of the day.
Other textual and visual sources show that 13 January was also accepted in the Serbian
milieu as the date of their commemoration but that 1 June, directly adopted from
the Synaxarion of Constantinople, was not entirely dropped. Finally, the Typikon of
Archbishop Nikodim (1318–1319) records 13 January as their feast day, as do the
painted menologia of Serbian churches.
All of the above suggests that the cult of Hermylos and Stratonikos could not take
hold outside of the Byzantine capital, where their relics were kept and where the two
Belgrade martyrs certainly enjoyed a remarkable level of veneration. The memory of
Hermylos and Stratonikos in the Eastern Christian world was gradually reduced to a
single yearly commemoration (13 January) without a more substantial liturgical celebration,
and their representations in art were very uncommon.",

AB  - In this study, the structure, morphology and composition of the synthesized magnetite/3D-printed wollastonite (3D_W/M) composite were characterized, and its adsorption performance with respect to As(V) and Cr(VI) were studied. Magnetite (MG) modified 3D printed wollastonite was obtained by two step procedure: modification of 3D_W with 3-aminoproylsilane (APTES) followed by controlled magnetite (MG) deposition to obtain 3D_W/M adsorbent. The structure/properties of 3D_W/M were confirmed by applying FTIR, XRD, TGD/DTA, and SEM analysis. The adsorption properties of hybrid adsorbents were carried out for As(V) and Cr(VI) removal-one relative to the initial pH value, the adsorbent mass, the temperature, and the adsorption time. Time-dependent adsorption study was best described by pseudo-second order equation, while Weber Morris analysis showed that intraparticle diffusion controled diffusional transport. Similar activation energy, 17.44 and 14.49 kJ•mol-1 for adsorption As(V) and Cr(VI) on 3D_W/M, respectively, indicated main contribution of physical adsorption. Determination of adsorption parameters was performed by applying different adsorption isotherm models, and the best fit was obtained using Freundlich model. The adsorption capacity of 24.16 and 29.6 mg g-1 for As(V) and Cr(VI) at 2o C, Co = 5.5 and 5.3 mg L-1, respectively, were obtained. Thermodynamic study indicated favourable process at a higher temperature. Preliminary fixed-bed column study and results fitting with Bohart-Adams, Yoon-Nelson, Thomas, and Modified dose-response model showed good agreement with results from the batch study.

AB  - Immobilizing antifungal polyenes such as nystatin (Nys) and amphotericin B (AmB) into biodegradable formulations is advantageous compared to free drug administration providing sustained release, reduced dosing due to localized targeting and overall reduced systemic drug toxicity. In this study, we encapsulated Nys and AmB in medium chain length polyhydroxyalkanoates (mcl-PHA) microspheres (7–8 µm in diameter). The obtained formulations have been validated for antifungal activity in vitro against a panel of pathogenic fungi including species of Candida, Aspergillus, Microsporum and Trichophyton genera and toxicity and efficacy in vivo using the zebrafish model of disseminated candidiasis. While free polyenes, especially AmB, were highly toxic to zebrafish embryos at the effective (MIC) doses, after their loading into mcl-PHA microspheres, inner organ toxicity and teratogenicity associated with both drugs were not observed, even at 100 × MIC doses. The obtained mcl-PHA/polyene formulations have successfully eradicated C. albicans infection and showed an improved therapeutic profile in zebrafish by enhancing infected embryos survival. This approach is contributing to the antifungal arsenal as polyenes, although the first broad-spectrum antifungals on the market are still the gold standard for treatment of fungal infections.

AB  - Dense calcium phosphate-based ceramics were fabricated to be used as targets for pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Nanostructured cobalt-substituted hydroxyapatite (Co:HAP) was used as a starting powder. To vary phase composition and microstructure of targets, two sintering approaches were applied, conventional (CS) and two-step sintering (TSS). The obtained results show that in both cases biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) ceramics (targets) were prepared, with slightly different HAP-to-β–TCP amount ratio and a significantly different microstructure. While the CS method yielded fully dense ceramics with an average grain size of 1.3 μm, the ceramics prepared by TSS had a density of 98.5%, with a predominant grain size below 100 nm. (Ca + Co)P coatings were prepared by PLD of (Ca + Co)P targets. The temperature of the Ti substrate was adjusted to be 25 and 500 °C. The results show that the phase composition of (Ca + Co)P coatings depended on the phase composition of targets as well as on the temperature of the Ti substrate. The coating prepared at 25 °C using CS target consisted of three calcium phosphate phases, HAP, β–TCP and α–TCP; when the TSS target was used, the coating was biphasic, containing HAP and β–TCP. When the substrate was heated to 500 °C, regardless of whether the CS or the TSS target was used, the deposited coatings were composed of HAP and α–TCP. Due to different phase compositions, the (Ca + Co)P coatings deposited at 25 °C showed an improved hardness compared to those deposited at 500 °C. The obtained results confirmed that the phase composition, morphology and mechanical properties of 0.3 μm thick (Ca + Co)P coatings on a Ti substrate can be tailored by employing (Ca + Co)P targets with different microstructures, and also by varying the temperature of the Ti substrate during deposition experiments.

AB  - Oво истраживање предузето је с циљем да се испитају језик заступљен у реп музици с подручја косовско-ресавског дијалекта и теме које 
ова музика обрађује. Корпус представљају песме различитих извођача с поменутог дијалекатског подручја, а истраживању се приступа са (социо)лингвистичког и културолошког аспекта. Кроз анализу дијалекатских особина које у прикупљеном корпусу проналазимо на свим језичким нивоима тежили смо томе да најпре потврдимо употребу косовско‑ресавског дијалекта, а потом да испитамо његову функцију и употребну вредност у наведеном музичком жанру. Употреба дијалекта у музичком стваралаштву несумњиво доприноси његовом очувању и популаризацији, поготово узевши у обзир то да је овакво стваралаштво доживело велику популарност код, пре свега, омладинске публике, и то из свих крајева Србије. Овај алтернативни језичко‑музички правац, који можемо назвати и „провинцијски репˮ, представља својеврсни феномен, који може послужити и као материјал за ишчитавање одређених елемената традиционалног, али и модерног живота младог човека који живи ван велеградских музичких збивања. Резултати добијени овим истраживањем могу бити од користи за даља истраживања језика и „провинцијскихˮ тема заступљених у реп музици.
AB  - The aim of this research is to examine both the language used in rap music in areas where the Kosovo-Resava dialect is spoken and the themes appearing in this type of music. The research methods used are the (socio)linguistic and cultural approach (Anthropology and Ethnology). Such an interdisciplinary approach in regards to examining this modern phenomenon is valuable as it allows dissections from multiple aspects. Many are the purposes of using a dialect in this musical genre. It primarily shows one’s authenticity and territorial identification, but also a unique rebellion against the system which is apparent from the themes of the songs that portray provincial life. The results of this analysis can provide support for future research into language and provincial themes appearing in rap music, or other genres, considering that this kind of research in Serbistics and Culturology is yet to be conducted.

AB  - This paper details the entry of the Serbian army into Bosnia and
Herzegovina in the concluding stage of the Great War, after the breakthrough
of the Salonica (Macedonian) front. It examines the interaction of the Serbian
army with the newly established authorities in the province, in Sarajevo and on
the local level, in the vacuum brought about by the collapse of the Habsburg
regime, and the order and peace keeping to which the presence of Serbian
soldiers was crucial. On the basis of military records, the paper challenges the
conventional wisdom about the creation of Yugoslavia by shedding additional
light on the attitude of the three Bosnian-Herzegovinian religious and ethnic
communities towards the Yugoslav unification realised in Belgrade on 1
December 1918.

AB  - Hazelnut shell ash was investigated as a new base catalyst for the transesterification of used cooking sunflower oil to biodiesel. To understand its catalytic properties, the prepared ash was characterized by EDX, XRD, TGA/DTA, Hg porosimetry, N2 physisorption, FE-SEM, and basic strength measurements. The effects of the catalyst loading in the range of 1–5% of the oil weight and the methanol-to-oil molar ratio of 6:1–18:1 on the kinetics of the fatty acid methyl esters synthesis were established. Moreover, the leaching and reusability of the catalyst were assessed. The obtained results revealed that hazelnut shell ash was mostly composed of K, Ca, and Mg. The highest ester content (98%) was achieved at the catalyst loading of 5%, the methanol-to-oil molar ratio of 12:1, and the reaction time of 10 min. The contribution of homogeneous catalysis because of the catalyst leaching was confirmed but did not determine the overall reaction rate. The catalyst can be reused after the recalcination at 800 °C for 2 h achieving the high methyl esters content (>96%) in 30 min after three subsequent runs. The overall reaction followed the pseudo-first-order kinetics with respect to triacylglycerols. A linear relationship between the apparent reaction rate constant and the catalyst loading and the methanol-to-oil molar ratio was determined. The determined value of the reaction rate constant was 0.0576 dm6/(min•mol2).

Српски међу словенским рукописима у манастиру Свете Катарине на Синају (XI–XII век)

AB  - Saint Catherine’s monastery on Mount Sinai holds a collection of about 4,500 ancient
manuscripts in various languages, including more than 80 Slavic manuscripts. Half of the Slavic
manuscripts were discovered in 1975, in the crypt of the church of Saint George in the monastery
walls. Particularly important is the discovery of the Glagolitic manuscripts which added helped
complete two previously known Glagolitic manuscripts (Euchologion 1/N – 37/O and Psalter
2/N – 38/O) and, even more so, the discovery of the previously unknown, somewhat later, Psalter
(3/N), Menaion (4/N) and Missal/Euchologion (5/N). An unsigned Horologion from an earlier
period was later added to this group. The paper discusses each individual manuscript, along with
other written monuments from the studied period (not all of which are held in the monastery, but
rather in major international manuscript collections), and Russian Cyrillic manuscripts have a
prominent place among them. The Serbian literacy of the time was embedded in the Old Church
Slavonic literacy as shaped in the Ohrid Archbishopric (along with Greek), and the presence of
Serbian scribes can be established based only on deviations (mostly errors), from the accepted
orthographic and linguistic canon. The earliest Slavic manuscripts found on Mount Sinai are
associated with the literacy of the South Slavic hermits active in the central area of the Byzantine
Ohrid Archbishopric, in the contact zone among today’s Serbia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria
(10th–12th centuries). The line of South Slavic literacy which was shaped into an independent
Serbian recension (written monuments of the 12th and early 13th centuries) through the filter of
the Serbian, Prizren – South Morava dialect originates directly from this area. Accordingly, the
Serbian liturgical Glagolitic literacy of the 11th–12th centuries had the same roots as the other
lines of Slavic literacy present on Mount Sinai in the same period. Although Serbian written
monuments from the area where Serbian literacy took shape are scarce, we can largely
reconstruct it thanks to remnants found on Mount Sinai.

walls. Particularly important is the discovery of the Glagolitic manuscripts which added helped
complete two previously known Glagolitic manuscripts (Euchologion 1/N – 37/O and Psalter
2/N – 38/O) and, even more so, the discovery of the previously unknown, somewhat later, Psalter
(3/N), Menaion (4/N) and Missal/Euchologion (5/N). An unsigned Horologion from an earlier
period was later added to this group. The paper discusses each individual manuscript, along with
other written monuments from the studied period (not all of which are held in the monastery, but
rather in major international manuscript collections), and Russian Cyrillic manuscripts have a
prominent place among them. The Serbian literacy of the time was embedded in the Old Church
Slavonic literacy as shaped in the Ohrid Archbishopric (along with Greek), and the presence of
Serbian scribes can be established based only on deviations (mostly errors), from the accepted
orthographic and linguistic canon. The earliest Slavic manuscripts found on Mount Sinai are
associated with the literacy of the South Slavic hermits active in the central area of the Byzantine
Ohrid Archbishopric, in the contact zone among today’s Serbia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria
(10th–12th centuries). The line of South Slavic literacy which was shaped into an independent
Serbian recension (written monuments of the 12th and early 13th centuries) through the filter of
the Serbian, Prizren – South Morava dialect originates directly from this area. Accordingly, the
Serbian liturgical Glagolitic literacy of the 11th–12th centuries had the same roots as the other
lines of Slavic literacy present on Mount Sinai in the same period. Although Serbian written
monuments from the area where Serbian literacy took shape are scarce, we can largely
reconstruct it thanks to remnants found on Mount Sinai.",

AB  - This study aims to indicate the importance of revising current health recommendations concerning the duration of exposure and individual sensitivity of the skin to solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation. For this purpose, a 16-year data series (2005–2020) of erythemal radiant exposure (Her) and UV index (UVI) for Serbia was analyzed. The UV-related risk was estimated for lighter skin (skin phototypes I-IV) under prolonged exposure on days when maximum UVI was below the recommended protection threshold (UVIlow days, for UVI < 3). Risk assessment was performed for seasonal exposure using satellite-derived data (OMUVBd product) previously validated by ground-based measurements in Novi Sad. The assessment of harmful effects included an analysis of the relation between the daily maximum UVI and the corresponding daily Her, the occurrence of UVIlow days, the exceedance of minimal erythema dose (MED), and the minimum duration of exposure to induce erythema (tMED) for all lighter skin phototypes. It was found that the share of UVIlow days in the total number of days in Serbia increases with the latitude, with the highest percentage in winter (up to 69.454%) and the lowest in summer (up to 3.468%). The results show that the daily Her frequently exceeded the harmful threshold for lighter skin phototypes I-IV (on average by 91.521, 84.923, 70.556, and 56.515%, respectively) on UVIlow days. It was found that prolonged exposure on days with a maximum of UVI = 2 poses a significant risk of erythema for all lighter skin phototypes, even for a duration of 3 h in the middle of the day, as well as medium risk for UVI = 1, and an absence of risk for UVI = 0. The results suggest that health recommendations should be revised, especially in the midlatitudes, where the share of UVIlow days is large, and in areas where the population is predominantly lighter-skinned.

AB  - Enhanced optical properties of TiO2 thin films can be achieved by doping or coating with metals. Metal-doped TiO2 can reduce electron-hole recombination and increase hydroxyl radical concentration on the surface of TiO2, resulting in increase of the photocatalytic activity. TiO2 and TiO2-Au thin films were obtained by DC magnetron sputtering of Ti target with Ar ions in O2 atmosphere. In the case of Au buffered TiO2 thin films, two different systems were deposited for comparison. Post deposition annealing at 400 °C was carried out in nitrogen atmosphere for 3 h. The structural and optical characteristics of the prepared films were investigated in detail by the combination of high-resolution microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. The photo-degradation rate was measured using Rhodamine B which simulated pollutant. Post deposition annealing resulted in diffusion of Au atoms through the layer as it was revealed by transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The obtained TiO2 thin films were found to be amorphous after deposition and annealing at 400 °C leads to crystallization of anatase phase. Analysis of the binding energy in the corresponding X-ray photoelectron spectra has confirmed stoichiometry of TiO2 and that concentration of Au on the surface can be controlled by sputtering and annealing conditions, thus changing optical properties by influencing the surface plasmonic nature. All Au doped TiO2 thin films exhibited enhanced wettability and photo-degradation rates when compared to pristine titania films. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

AB  - In the supplement, a few audio records in a time duration of about 1-3 min, which are acquired during experiments performed on skull head #7587, are given. The signals have been on-line processed by TIFOS system and recorded by an HP notebook audiocard without any frequency equalizing. The sound pressure level was measured by Bruel & Kjaer 2250 sound meter (dBA, slow). The sound of piano and violin in Schubert’s Rondo in Fig. S1a are of high fidelity. AB  - Many retina diseases require very often a delicate surgical intervention, which is performed by different minimally invasive instruments and tools. They must be miniature but still robust and capable to accurately determine the separation to the retina target in real-time. Because of that they have to be instrumented with a sensing technique, which may interactively read the actual distance toward the target without any risk of injuring the retina. In this paper, we present a fiber-optic sensing technique suitable for integration into surgical instruments. The technique is composed of low- and high-coherence interferometry that allows sub-micrometer absolute distance measurement between the surgical tools and retina without any scanning unit in the reference arm. The technique is demonstrated utilizing the experimental setup based on a 2x2 fiber-optic coupler simultaneously powered by an SLD and VCSEL as low- and high-coherence light sources, respectively. The sensing arm was directed toward the eye model, made of the inner silicon layer and outer polylactide (PLA) 3D printed eyeball. The distance between the sensing fiber tip and target has been measured using both low-and high-coherence interferograms over a rather large dynamic range of about 2 mm with the accuracy of 655 nm that corresponds with λ/2 of the high-coherence light source.

The sensing principle is based on the low-coherence interferometry, characterized by generation of Gaussian shape interferograms, which maximum position depends on the optical path difference (OPD) between the sensing and reference arm of the MZI. When liquid flows through the central microchannel of the optofluidic platform it crosses the light beam between the two optical fibers in the sensing arm causing the OPD change. An algorithm has been applied for calculation of index of refraction of liquids out of the raw interference signals. We obtained very good agreement between the experimental results and literature data of index of refraction of subjected fluids. The accuracy of index of refraction measurement is about 1 % that is predominantly determined by accuracy of reading the position of mechanical scanner.

AB  - In this paper, we present the results of an experimental study about a novel fiber optical vibrometer, aimed to be used as a totally implantable fiber-optic microphone for hearing aids. The sensor head, implanted inside the human cadaver middle ear, detects the amplitude of the incus vibrations, which are produced by an external acoustical source. The probe beam of coherent vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) radiation is directed to the incus and the phase-modulated reflected beam is captured and demodulated. The problem of interferometric fading was solved using two quasi-quadrature signals, passively produced by the 3 × 3 single-mode fiber-optic coupler, processed by a special embedded algorithm. The implanted optoelectronic module works with very low-power consumption, performs real-time signal processing and outputs an analogue signal proportional to the incus vibration. The amplitude of the incus vibrations at different sound pressure levels (SPL) from 40 to 90 dB and at frequencies from 100 Hz to 10 kHz were measured by the implanted system. The system was evaluated on five cadaver skulls. The measured amplitudes were in the range of 1 pm to 5 nm, depending on the subjected skull and the applied sound pressure.

Functional and Environmental Advantage of Cleaning Ti5B1 Master Alloy

AB  - One of the greatest environmental goals for the aluminum alloys industry is generating higher quality products by introducing cleaner input materials while maintaining low production costs. A typical dilemma for the master alloy producers is the cleanness level of the master alloy since insoluble inclusions could serve as inoculants during the solidification process. In this work, commercial Ti5B1 master alloy is used for grain refinement of Al7Si4Cu aluminum alloy and compared with the cleaned master alloy that contained a lower amount of residual refractory oxides and salts. Metallography analysis was used for grain size measurement while Computer Aided Cooling Curve Analysis was used for assessment of the undercooling and heat release values. In all instances, specimens treated with the cleaned master alloy showed smaller grains in the final structure and lower undercooling values. The difference in released heat between liquidus and recalescence temperatures was about 25% in specimens where added 0.66 wt% of cleaned master alloys compared to specimens where the commercial master alloys were added. Using cleaner Ti5B1 master alloy with a higher number of TiAl3 and TiB2 particles improves its grain refinement efficiency and transmits fewer impurities in produced parts. Producing cleaner master alloy would be beneficial from economic and environmental aspects by increasing its value and service time of produced parts besides simplifying the recycling process at the end of parts life-cycle.

In this work, commercial Ti5B1 master alloy is used for grain refinement of Al7Si4Cu aluminum alloy and compared with the cleaned master alloy that contained a lower amount of residual refractory oxides and salts. Metallography analysis was used for grain size measurement while Computer Aided Cooling Curve Analysis was used for assessment of the undercooling and heat release values. In all instances, specimens treated with the cleaned master alloy showed smaller grains in the final structure and lower undercooling values. The difference in released heat between liquidus and recalescence temperatures was about 25% in specimens where added 0.66 wt% of cleaned master alloys compared to specimens where the commercial master alloys were added. Using cleaner Ti5B1 master alloy with a higher number of TiAl3 and TiB2 particles improves its grain refinement efficiency and transmits fewer impurities in produced parts. Producing cleaner master alloy would be beneficial from economic and environmental aspects by increasing its value and service time of produced parts besides simplifying the recycling process at the end of parts life-cycle.",

AB  - Познато је да се језик непрекидно мења и да су те промене мотивисане како унутрашњим језичким законитостима тако и ванјезичким околностима, као и да се за потребе неометане комуникације у оквиру једне језичке заједнице формира стандардни језик. Стандардизовање језика подразумева језичко планирања које се одвија у више фаза, од којих ћу, овом приликом, издвојити четири (сукцесивно их наводећи): одабирање, описивање, прописивање и разрађивање. Дакле, нормирању језика мора да претходи одабирање и описивање онога што у језику већ постоји, што у њему живи. Свако насилно мењање језика, који има своје историјске корене, уноси у њега дисхармонију и збрку, нарушава језички склад и доприноси осећају језичке несигурности код његових говорника.

AB  - У добро уређеним и срећним државама језичка политика је у центру укупне националне и државне политике, што је општепозната ствар, а што је чињеница у уређеним европским државама, великим и малим. То би морало посебно бити правило у Србији, која је након свих ломова кроз претходне деценије наследила неуређену, чак се може рећи – запуштену језичку ситуацију. Иако се изјашњавамо да нам је циљ уређено друштво, иако нам се препоручује да следимо европску праксу, те се оцењује и процењује колико у том погледу напредујемо – српска језичка ситуација се никако не усклађује са језичком ситуацијом у европским државама. Чак има разлога да се верује да се управо подстиче одржавање овако неуређене језичке ситуације у Србији. Добро је познато у социолингвистици, а и у пракси већине уређених држава, да се језичка политика осмишљава и спроводи у доброј сарадњи државе и језичке струке. Ако тако није, онда имамо неуређену језичку ситуацију, што пружа могућност да се у земљи води туђа језичка политика.

AB  - Увођење вербалног деликта, ограничавање слободе мишљења и изражавања, језички инжењеринг и напад на граматику и лексику српског језика, који су проистекли из обавезујућег карактера новоусвојеног Закона о родној равноправности (у даљем тексту: Закон) с једне стране, као и жеља да покушамо најпре разумети појам родно осетљив/сензитиван језик, а затим и аргументе феминистичке струје која се овим проблемом бавила на плану лингвистике, тачније – србистике, инспирисали су нас да подробно анализирамо две електронски доступне публикације, објављене 2019. године, чији је предмет проучавања родно осетљив језик.
