From Emulation to a Great Masterpiece. Two Serbian Composers of the 1950s

AB  - The basic idea of this paper is to demonstrate the different ways in which a composer may use the techniques of simulation or stylistic allusion, not to resemble a certain composer or style, but to perfect their own compositional techniques and develop individual style. With this in mind, two orchestral pieces from Serbian music history have been analysed, both written in the 1950s: Suita giocosa (1956) by Milan Ristić (1908–1982) and Passacaglia for orchestra (1957) by Ljubica Marić (1909–2003). Through the analysis of these pieces, I explore the similarities between their compositional techniques with those of the great European masters. In the case of Milan Ristić, the techniques of Paul Hindemith (1895–1963), presented in the textbook Unterweisung im Tonsatz, are the base which Ristić used to perfect his own musical language. In Passacaglia by Ljubica Marić one may notice strong influences of development variation, as explained by Arnold Schoenberg (1874–1951) on Johannes Brahms’ (1833–1897) chamber music titled “Brahms the progressive”. In conclusion, the processes in these orchestral pieces represent simulation or stylistic allusion produced through emulation, bearing in mind that the level of borrowing exists exclusively within the compositional technique and that role models of Ristić and Marić, as techniques of ‘selected’ composers, remain hidden in their works.
AB  - Основна идеја аутора јесте да прикаже различите начине на које композитор
може да користи технике симулације, односно стилске алузије, али не
због тога да би наликовао на одређеног композитора или стил, већ да би
усавршио сопствено композиционо-техничко умеће и развио индивидуални
стил. Имајући то у виду, анализирали смо две оркестарске композиције из
историје српске музике, написане током педесетих година прошлог века:
Suita giocosa (1956) Милана Ристића (1908–1982) и Пасакаљу за оркестар
(1957) Љубице Марић (1909–2003). Кроз анализу ових дела, покушали смо да
уочимо сродности композиционих техника ових композитора са техникама
великих европских композитора. У случају Милана Ристића, технике Паула
Хиндемита (Paul Hindemith, 1895–1963), представљене у уџбенику Техника
тонског слога (Unterweisung im Tonsatz) представљају основу коју је Ристић
користио у усавршавању сопственог музичког језика. У Пасакаљи Љубице
Марић, уочљиви су јаки трагови развојног варирања, на начин на који их
је објаснио Арнолд Шенберг (Arnold Schoenberg, 1874–1951) у свом есеју о
Брамсовој камерној музици (Johannes Brahms, 1833–1897) под називом „Брамс
напредњак“ („Brahms the Progressive“). Коначно, закључујемо да процеси
у поменутим делима представљају симулацију, односно стилску алузију,
произведену кроз емулацију, имајући у виду да се ниво преузимања одвија
на нивоу композиционе технике и да узори Ристића и Марићеве, у виду
‘одабраних’ композитора, остају у великој мери прикривени у њиховим делима.

Experimental study of an implantable fiber-optic microphone on human cadavers

AB  - In this paper, we present the results of an experimental study about a novel fiber optical vibrometer, aimed to be used as a totally implantable fiber-optic microphone for hearing aids. The sensor head, implanted inside the human cadaver middle ear, detects the amplitude of the incus vibrations, which are produced by an external acoustical source. The probe beam of coherent vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) radiation is directed to the incus and the phase-modulated reflected beam is captured and demodulated. The problem of interferometric fading was solved using two quasi-quadrature signals, passively produced by the 3 × 3 single-mode fiber-optic coupler, processed by a special embedded algorithm. The implanted optoelectronic module works with very low-power consumption, performs real-time signal processing and outputs an analogue signal proportional to the incus vibration. The amplitude of the incus vibrations at different sound pressure levels (SPL) from 40 to 90 dB and at frequencies from 100 Hz to 10 kHz were measured by the implanted system. The system was evaluated on five cadaver skulls. The measured amplitudes were in the range of 1 pm to 5 nm, depending on the subjected skull and the applied sound pressure.

Debunking “Potentially Monolithic Perceptions of Musicology”: The Role of Musicology in Metal Music Studies

AB  - It can be said that the academic scrutinization of metal music began with two substantial studies – Heavy Metal. The Music and its Culture (1991) by sociologist Deena Weinstein and Running with the Devil. Power, Gender, and Madness in Heavy Metal Music (1993) by musicologist Robert Walser. During the following couple of decades, academic and metal communities witnessed some sporadic – but essential – contributions to the field (Purcell’s Death Metal Music: The Passion and Politics of a Subculture (2003) and Kahn-Harris’s Extreme Metal: Music and Culture on the Edge (2007), to name a few).
A series of several events that occurred near the end of the first decade of the 21st century, and especially during the 2010s, are crucial in the institutionalization of metal music studies. The foundation of the International Society for Metal Music Studies (ISMMS) in 2013 is probably the most important one, mainly because it announced the emergence of the new scientific paradigm. Following the first global conference on metal held in Salzburg in 2008, starting from 2013 the ISMMS began organizing regular international and inter/multi-disciplinary conferences biannually. Finally, the foundation of ISMMS’ specialized scientific journal, Metal Music Studies (Intellect Press, 2015), signified the beginning of the so-called autonomy that metal scholars strived for. As Will Straw noticed in his keynote speech at the ISMMS conference in Nantes (2019), this autonomy was particularly important concerning popular music studies. Metal scholars, coming from various disciplines (sociology, musicology, aesthetics, cultural studies, history, psychology, etc.), created their “intellectual hub” and started building a unique resource for the field.
With musicology playing a vital role in the field, this paper aims to examine the musicological input to metal music studies, with special attention given to studies published after the foundation of the ISMMS and its journal. This overview will encompass reoccurring topics, contemporary methodologies, and the interdisciplinary liaisons established in the research process.
AB  - Имајући у виду да је интересовање за проучавање метал музике званично отпочело у англоамеричком контексту деведесетих година прошлог века појавом две студије утемељивачког карактера – Heavy Metal. The Music and its Culture (1991) социолошкиње Дине Вајнстин и Running with the Devil. Power, Gender, and Madness in Heavy Metal Music (1993) музиколога Роберта Волсера – циљ овог текста био је да се испита улога музикологије у области студија метал музике.
Показано је да је, током три деценије све разгранатијег научног дискурса о овом музичком феномену, упис музикологије био важан не само као први корак, већ и као константан и неизоставан део говора и написа о металу. Почевши од Волсерове студије, која је par excellance продукт ’свог доба’ и нове музикологије, музиколошки доприноси овом пољу били су резултат интердисциплинарне базе дисциплине, те су тако резултати тих истраживања обухватала историографску, формалистичку, музичко-теоријску, естетичку,
филозофску, етномузиколошку, етнографску раван. 
На институционализацију студија метал музике утицало је неколико догађаја који су се одвили крајем прве деценије 21. века, а нарочито током 2010-их. Због успостављања нове научне парадигме и платформе, пре свега треба поменути оснивање Међународног друштва за проучавање метал музике
(ISMMS) 2013. године, а потом и установљивање редовних међународних и интер/транс/мултидисциплинарних научних скупова широм света. Својеврсна аутономија ове области, нарочито у односу на студије популарне музике, заокружена је успостављањем научног часописа Metal Music Studies (Intellect Press, 2015). Тако је, у односу на претходни период, где је научно истраживање метал музике остајало у запећку шире слике и спорадично се пробијало у први план, успостављена платформа на којој ће се убрзо развити дисциплинарни односи.
Иако су неки од гласноговорника студија метал музике инсистирали на оснаживању музиколошког ’гласа’ пре свега ради компетентног говора о звуку, музичким структурама и хармонско-мелодијским аспектима метал музике, овај текст је увидом у кратку али садржајну историју музиколошких написа показао да се, услед основних интердисциплинарних поставки музикологије, допринос музиколога не може свести ’само’ на музичко-теоријски рад. Штавише, он предвиђа још богатију продукцију која долази из сфере музикологије, а која ће бити инспирисана и испровцирана новим технологијама, инструментима и извођаштвом, савременим друштвом и публиком, начинима стварања,
постпродукције и рецепције музике.

Investigation of photo(electro)catalytic efficiency of BaTi1-xSnx, ZnO and ZnO@BaTi1-xSnx (x = 0, 0.05, 0.10) powders

AB  - The aim of this research was to improve photo(electro)catalytic properties of BaTi1-xSnx (BTS, x = 0, 0.05, 0.10) powders. For that purpose we employed ZnO to prepare ZnO@BTS composite. In situ microwave processing of a ZnO precipitate on previously synthesized BTS particles was used to produce ZnO@BTS composites. The phase composition and crystal structure of BTS, ZnO and ZnO@BTS were examined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The powders particles morphology was investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The optical properties were studied using UV-Vis diffuse reflectance (DRS) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). Linear voltammetry was used to examine the photoelectrochemical properties of the materials. Photocatalytic properties were tested based on the decolorization of methylene blue (MB) dye in the presence of powder particles, under the influence of simulated sunlight radiation. BTS powders have good electron transfer properties, which has been shown in their function as electrocatalysts, where they have shown better properties than ZnO and ZnO@BTS composites. In contrast, they showed poor photocatalytic efficacy. The precipitation of ZnO particles on BTS, by the method of microwave processing,
significantly improves the photocatalytic efficiency of the formed composites, concerning the starting BTS powders. Among the composites, ZnO@BT composite proved to be the most effective photocatalyst.

abstract = "The aim of this research was to improve photo(electro)catalytic properties of BaTi1-xSnx (BTS, x = 0, 0.05, 0.10) powders. For that purpose we employed ZnO to prepare ZnO@BTS composite. In situ microwave processing of a ZnO precipitate on previously synthesized BTS particles was used to produce ZnO@BTS composites. The phase composition and crystal structure of BTS, ZnO and ZnO@BTS were examined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The powders particles morphology was investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The optical properties were studied using UV-Vis diffuse reflectance (DRS) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). Linear voltammetry was used to examine the photoelectrochemical properties of the materials. Photocatalytic properties were tested based on the decolorization of methylene blue (MB) dye in the presence of powder particles, under the influence of simulated sunlight radiation. BTS powders have good electron transfer properties, which has been shown in their function as electrocatalysts, where they have shown better properties than ZnO and ZnO@BTS composites. In contrast, they showed poor photocatalytic efficacy. The precipitation of ZnO particles on BTS, by the method of microwave processing,
significantly improves the photocatalytic efficiency of the formed composites, concerning the starting BTS powders. Among the composites, ZnO@BT composite proved to be the most effective photocatalyst.",

Integer Codes Correcting Single Errors within Two Bytes

AB  - This paper presents a class of integer codes suitable for use in optical networks with low error rates. The presented codes are constructed with the help of a computer and have two important features: first, they can correct single errors affecting one or two b-bit bytes, and second, they use processor-friendly operations to encode/decode data bits. The effectiveness of the presented codes is demonstrated on theoretical models of four-core and six-core processors. The obtained results show that the decoder throughput reaches 14.70Gbps, which is above the operating speed of 10G networks. Finally, the paper compares the proposed codes with BCH codes of similar properties. The comparison is made in terms of redundancy and the number of decoding operations.

Layered CaV2O6 as promising electrode material for multivalent storage

AB  - While the world is facing a higher demand for lithium, its limited resources associated with the high price, are becoming problematic. Other crucial drawbacks of Li-ion batteries are their toxicity and safety concerns. Therefore, researchers are oriented towards development of non-Li batteries based on eco-friendly and earth-abundant materials to overcome drawbacks of Li-ion technology. Alternative abundant metals and their ions such as Mg and Ca could be a good choice for rechargeable batteries in terms of cost and eco-friendliness. Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions could transfer two electrons per redox process which theoretically has a positive effect on battery performance. The materials upon which multivalent ions will intercalate with fast diffusion rate are hard to find. Metal vanadium oxide (MxVyOz) materials become promising materials for rechargeable batteries, so herein, a standard sol-gel combustion route was used for the preparation of the CaV2O6 layered precursor. Two samples are synthesized from the vanadate precursor, the first when it was heated at 400 °C (CaVO) and the second when CaVO was integrated with 10 wt % of sucrose under thermal treatment at 400 °C, in Ar atmosphere (CaVO/C). Obtained CaVO and CaVO/C powders were thoroughly characterized by XRD, TG-DTA, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy. The electrochemical performance of the obtained samples was evaluated for multivalent-ion storage in saturated aqueous electrolytic solutions of Mg (NO3)2 and Ca (NO3)2 by cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry. For comparison, measurements were also done in saturated LiNO3. Results indicated that CaVO can store more Li+ ions than Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions, but CaVO in LiNO3 shows a substantial loss of capacity upon cycling, which is not observed in the case of Mg (NO3)2 and Ca (NO3)2. On the other hand, CaVO/C composite showed a significant improvement for Ca an Mg storage capacity, which exceeded capacity storage of Li+ ions. The high and stable discharge capacity of CaVO/C, amounting to 89.3 mA h g−1 at 0.5 A g-1, was obtained in Ca (NO3)2. Obtained results are promising and open novel directions regarding the use of CaV2O6 for multivalent rechargeable batteries, especially for Ca-ion batteries.

AB  - Although today widely used in electronic devices and electric vehicles, lithium ion batteries encounter problem of future application, resulting from limited Li resources, relatively high costs and operational safety problems. Rechargeable magnesium batteries as a potential alternative to the Li-ion ones stand out because of their high theoretical specific capacity, high abundance of Mg resources, atmospheric stability, safety of handling, eco friendliness and low cost. Layered materials including oxides, sulphides and selenides are promising candidates for host materials for Mg2+ storage in rechargeable magnesium batteries. Slow migration of Mg2+ in the layered oxides, ascribed to the strong interaction between Mg and neighbouring O atoms, inspires researchers to look for the ways of improving their electrochemical performance. In this work, Mg-V-O material was synthesized by simple precipitation method, followed by thermal annealing. The obtained material is single-phase material consisted of MgV2O6 phase, according to the results of XRD, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. Electrochemical test by cyclic voltammetry in aqueous solution revealed redox peaks corresponding to the insertion/deinsertion of Mg2+ ions into/from the material, but with poor current densities. In order to improve the electrochemical performance of the simply prepared Mg-V-O material, carbon was integrated with the Mg-V-O by sucrose-assisted thermal treatment. Although composed of several phases, the obtained Mg-V-O/C material exhibited around 40 times higher maximal specific current values of Mg2+ insertion/deinsertion than the Mg-V-O. Also, the electrochemical performance of the Mg-VO/ C for the insertion/deinsertion of Mg2+ ions was better than those of Al3+ and Li+ ions.

Application of supercritical carbon dioxide for making perovskite photodiode

AB  - Perovskite solar cells reached high efficiency in a short period. When perovskite was applied for the first time as photovoltaics, power conversion efficiency (PCE) was less than 3 %. Up to now, PCE is over 29 %. In perovskite solar cells, the perovskite layer is an active layer that absorbs the visible part of the spectrum. To reduce the recombination of charge carriers, the construction of solar cells requires the existence of layers for holes and electrons. TiO2 is usually used as an inorganic electron transport layer because its conduction band (CB) lies under the CB of perovskite, so electrons could diffuse from CB of perovskite to CB of TiO2. For these experiments, TiO2 nanotubular structure was used due to its advantages compared to nanoparticular TiO2. TiO2 nanotubes provide a one-dimensional transmission channel for the charge carriers which will reduce the recombination of the carriers and provide a fast carrier transport. The TiO2 nanotubes were synthesized by anodization of Ti foil after which they were annealed at 450 °C for 1 h. Their inner diameter was ~ 103 ± 17 nm while the length was ~ 350 nm. Methylammonium lead bromide perovskite (MAPbBr3) was deposited on TiO2 nanotubes from the solution in dimethylformamide (DMF) by application of supercritical carbon dioxide at 35 °C and different pressures (100, 200, and 300 bar). It has been observed that supercritical CO2 improves the filling of nanotubes by the perovskite due to its stronger solubilizing power at higher pressures. A perovskite photodiode with an improved contact surface between TiO2 and perovskite was made, which is the basis for future solar cell construction. I-V characteristics show that the highest value of photocurrent under visible light reached 400 μA for the sample which was obtained at 35 ° C and 300 bar for 1 h. The absorption edge of prepared TiO2 nanotubes/MAPbBr3, determined by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, was extended to the visible range. FESEM and XRD analyses also were done.

AB  - Just in the immediate neighbourhood of the European Union (EU), the Republic of Serbia, one of the Western Balkan (WB) EU candidate countries, is lagging behind in the process of energy transition regardless of technological advances and policy instruments available. The EU created a momentum for energy transition acceleration with the European Green Deal, which has been forwarded to the WB through the Energy Community secretariat in the form of the Green Agenda; generally speaking, response in the form of National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) is expected in the short term. The Republic of Serbia’s Low Carbon Development Strategy with Action Plan (LCDSA) and the current Energy Strategy will be analysed, commented on, and improvements will be suggested for the acceleration of energy transition, based on the newest findings from the simulation-based optimization techniques using the sector coupling approach to achieve ambitious variable renewable energy shares. The motivation of this research is to provide decision makers in Serbia with the best available insights regarding sustainable energy system planning tools and possible shortcuts for delayed planning of activities. In addition, the purpose is to improve Serbia’s chance of benefitting from adoption of these strategies in the country’s faster transition towards EU membership. The research compares two scenarios to illustrate a possible policy shift from small hydro power plants to photovoltaics (PV). A further increase in PV and wind power plants has been simulated using the EnergyPLAN to achieve expected scenarios of 40% renewable energy share and some more ambitious ones—up to 80%, which is realistic only with the sector coupling approach.

AB  - Pendulum test is a method to quantify the spasticity. We used the goniogram recorded during the pendulum test to estimate the knee joint torque based on the model which considers spastic reflex activity. We fitted the exponential curve Th = ae-bt to the estimated knee joint torque to calculate the parameters a and b. We compared the scaled value log a/b with the modified Ashworth score. We used 8 sets of data collected in a clinical study with six complete paraplegic subjects. The comparison shows that the ratio a/b correlates with the MAS scores; thereby, can be used as a measure of spasticity. The advantage of using the ratio a/b is that this score is not rater dependent and that the scores are real numbers compared the MAS scores; thereby, providing better resolution of the level of spasticity.

AB  - We present the variability of the spasticity scores during three consecutive days using the case series clinical study data with spinal cord injured (SCI) subjects. We assessed the spasticity by the Pendulum Test (PT) and Ashworth Scale (AS) scores. We measured the spasticity on the three consecutive days before and after the period of the treatment. Three subjects with SCI participated in the study. We found large variability from day to day. The PT score had more significant variability compared with the AS. The results suggest that the three consecutive testing by using the pendulum test and PT score on different days provide a better assessment of spasticity being essential in evaluating the treatment protocol

AB  - Polymer matrix composites (PMCs) are very attractive materials due to a possibility to achieve versatile properties by combining with ceramic or metal reinforcement in different shapes and sizes. As a result, PMCs have found application in nearly every field, from household appliances to aerospace industry. Modern microelectronic devices contain conductive polymers with fillers that enhance their electrical properties. In addition, PMCs are being used as insulators and adhesives, contributing to the long life of electronic devices. Epoxy resins are the most commonly used insulators and adhesives. In order to improve their fracture toughness, glass fibers can be used as an efficient reinforcement. However, with the purpose of designing a composite with good mechanical properties and durability, deep knowledge of microstructure is required. In addition, microstructural analysis can be used to connect shape and size of pores or reinforcement with various physical properties. Fractal nature analysis is a valuable mathematical tool that can be employed for different shapes and forms rendering. In this manner, successful design and prediction of composite’s properties could be obtained. In this research, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) images were used for fractal analysis of glass fibers, with the aim of reconstructing the shape.

AB  - Young Researchers' meetings are held annually late in December since 2002 and they are organized by the Materials Research Society of Serbia. Originally conceived as seminars, since 2007 these meetings were transformed into conferences. The previous eleven meetings featured presentations based on the research of various young scientists from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Brazil, Germany, United States of America, China, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Romania, United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Russia, Canada, etc. At the Conference, young researchers, students of doctoral, master and undergraduate studies, are given the opportunity to make an overview of their research into materials science and engineering through oral and poster presentations. As for the scientific content of the conference, we have given full priority to research topics that are currently considered as being on the frontier of the field. Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, Synthesis and Engineering of Biomaterials, Application of Biomaterials, Theoretical Modeling of Materials and Advanced Methods for Synthesis and Processing present only some of those exciting topics that will be given the central stage and most attention during this meeting. The 19th Young Researchers' Conference Materials Science and Engineering was held in Belgrade, Serbia on December 1-3, 2021, Belgrade, Serbia. AB  - U radu ce predlaže ideja generatora analognog diskretnog uniformnog šuma (GADUŠ) za primenu u stohastičkoj digitalnoj mernoj metodi. Predloženim rešenjem, za razliku od standardnog, koje koristi generator slučajnih brojeva i precizni i tačni digitalno-analogni konvertor (DAK), se prevazilazi problem ograničene rezolucije DAK-a i njegov uzak propusni opseg.
AB  - The paper proposes the idea of an analog discrete uniform noise generator for application in the stochastic digital measurement method. The proposed solution, unlike the standard one, which uses a random number generator and a precise and accurate digital-to-analog converter (DAK), overcomes the problem of limited DAK resolution and its narrow bandwidth.

AB  - Working on holistic approaches that aim to capture a wide range of knowledge, researchers are usually faced with phenomena characterized by different time and geographical scales. This is the case of energy systems and Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs). More specifically, the nature of the variable renewable energy supply (VRES) has traditionally posed a barrier to accurately capturing the effects inflicted by VRES in the energy system. This research provides a soft link between an energy system model running with an hourly time step, on the one hand, and a yearly-based IAM, on the other hand, by the implementation of an emulator. The proposal here presented is a bridge, based on different types of knowledge, which successfully allows the flow of information between time scales. Results achieve a 100% renewable energy system on a case of Bulgaria. After a brief literature review on the topic, the method is explained in detail, including some results between EnergyPLAN (energy system model) and MEDEAS (Integrated Assessment Model, IAM) for Bulgaria. Results show that the ability of assessment is notably increased from the previous MEDEAS version. Finally, both results and limitations of this method are discussed. The authors hope this article captures interest in the field of IAMs, especially those which address with energy transition studies.

професионални живот посветила сакупљању и проучавању традиционал-
них плесова, односно народних игара, како је она називала предмет свога
бављења, и утемељењу етнокореологије као самосвојне научне дисци-
плине у Србији. Посвећено бележење традиционалних плесова обављала
је заједно са сестром Даницом, такође по образовању професором југо-
словенске књижевности и преводиоцем. Њихов дугогодишњи заједнички
теренски рад изнедрио је огромну грађу која је већим делом објављена у
мноштву научних радова и капиталној едицији под називом Народне игре.
Првих осам књига из ове едиције су штампане у периоду од 1934. до 1964.
године, док је девета књига постхумно објављена 2016. године.
У циљу сакупљања што већег броја традиционалних плесова путем њи-
ховог записивања, Љубица је на почетку бављења етнокореологијом 1934.
године, а у сарадњи са сестром, осмислила специфичан систем графичко-
-вербалне плесне нотације коју ће доследно примењивати до краја живота.
Њихов заједнички научни рад је био заснован на интензивним теренским
истраживањима традиционалног плеса у Београду (од досељеника из раз-
них крајева), Србији и на територији данашње Републике Македоније. На-
кон Даничине смрти 1960. године, Љубица је наставила етнокореолошку
активност, те самостално објавила неколико књига и радова у домаћим и страним часописима, у којима је аргументовано дискутовала о методама
етнокореолошких проучавања и постулирала њихова базична епистемо-
лошка и методолошка начела.
AB  - Although Ljubica S. Janković (Aleksinac, 14/26 June 1894 – Belgrade, 3 May 1974) was
a qualified teacher of Yugoslav literature, she dedicated nearly all of her professional life
to gathering and studying traditional dances, or folk dances, as she herself described
the subject of her interest, as well as to laying the foundations of ethnochoreology, as
an independent scientific discipline, in Serbia. Together with her sister Danica, who was
also a qualified teacher of Yugoslav literature and a translator, she recorded traditional
dances with great dedication. Many years of their joint fieldwork resulted in a huge
collection of materials, which was mostly published in a large number of scientific papers,
as well as in the seminal work entitled Narodne igre (Folk Dances). The first eight
volumes of the series were published between 1934 and 1964, whereas the ninth volume
was published posthumously, in 2016.
In order to collect as many traditional dances as possible, at the beginning of her
career as an ethnochoreologist in 1934, Ljubica and her sister invented a very specific
system of dance notation, using graphic symbols and words, which she applied consistently
till the end of her life. The sisters’ joint scientific work was based on intensive field
research of traditional dances in Belgrade (passed on by refugees from various parts of
the country), Serbia and in the territory of present-day Macedonia. After Danica’s death
in 1960, Ljubica continued her activities as an ethnochoreologist and published several
books and papers on her own, in Serbian and foreign periodicals, where she debated
methods of ethnochoreological studies and postulated their basic epistemological and
methodological principles.
When the life of Ljubica S. Janković is viewed in retrospect, one can notice her
full commitment and dedication to scientific work. Owing to that, she and her sister
Danica amassed a noteworthy body of research in the field of ethnochoreology. Growing
up in an intellectually stimulating environment, at one point the Janković sisters
decided to put their erudition, including different areas of knowledge, from literature to
mathematics, as well as several artistic skills, to the service of the study of folk dances,
their recording, analysis and interpretation, as well as to saving them from oblivion and
passing them on to new generations. The foundations of ethnochoreology, as a scientific
discipline, were laid in Serbia thanks to their work, which has been recognized and appreciated
not only in Serbia but also amongst ethnochoreologists and dance researchers
around the world.

AB  - A spatially-averaged model for an argon/dust pulsed plasma is developed in this study [1]. We analyze how the plasma properties depend on the shape of the electron energy probability function (EEPF), the pulsing frequency and the duty cycle. In addition, the case of dust-free plasma is considered.  It is found that the results of theory and experiment agree better if the assumed EEPF has a Druyvesteyn shape instead of a Maxwellian one. As an example, we compare electron and metastable atom densities for different plasma states. In particular, the model shows that in the presence of dust and at some pulsing frequencies the electron density decreases rapidly in the very beginning of the on-period. In our opinion, this decrease is due to an enhancement of electron collection by dust particles at the beginning of the on- period. Further, variation in the pulsing frequency differently affects the metastable density in a dust-free and in a dusty plasma. For large pulsing frequencies (≥ 7 kHz), the metastable density in presence of dust is smaller than in the continuous-wave discharge, contrary to the dust-free case. Our model shows that the collection of electrons by dust particles causes the faster variation of the effective electron  temperature leading to the lower metastable density. Using a 1D model we describe the plasma properties during the off-period (afterglow) also. The charge of a dust particle and the forces affecting the dust particle are studied for different neutral gas pressures and dust radii. It is found that at long afterglow times, the electric force affects more essentially the dust particle than the ion drag force. These results on dusty pulsed plasmas are relevant to many applications involving nonstationary plasmas containing impurities such as those for synthesis of novel nanomaterials.

abstract = "A spatially-averaged model for an argon/dust pulsed plasma is developed in this study [1]. We analyze how the plasma properties depend on the shape of the electron energy probability function (EEPF), the pulsing frequency and the duty cycle. In addition, the case of dust-free plasma is considered.  It is found that the results of theory and experiment agree better if the assumed EEPF has a Druyvesteyn shape instead of a Maxwellian one. As an example, we compare electron and metastable atom densities for different plasma states. In particular, the model shows that in the presence of dust and at some pulsing frequencies the electron density decreases rapidly in the very beginning of the on-period. In our opinion, this decrease is due to an enhancement of electron collection by dust particles at the beginning of the on- period. AB  - Resveratrol, polyphenol from stilbene family, has demonstrated beneficial effects on human health in numerous studies. Among these effects are cardioprotective, anti-cancer, neuroprotective, antimicrobial and other. In vivo, application of this phytochemical often lacks significant results. This is mainly because of its poor bioavailability, caused by low water solubility, sensitivity to light, oxygen and pH change, and high reactivity. Micro- and nanoformulations of resveratrol have been described to highly improve bioavailabiliy. However, there are limitations to this approach, such as demanding synthesis process, necessity of expensive or toxic chemicals, or poor loading capacity. We have used a simple physicochemical solvent-non solvent method to synthetise additive-free, stabile and uniform elongated resveratrol micro- and nanoparticles (RES-particles). The drying conditions were varied to examine their influence on the morphological characteristics of resveratrol particles. Differential effects of drying at ambient, low, and elevated temperature as well as effects of centrifugation and stability of RES-particle suspension during the time were documented. RES-particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and optical microscopy. Biocompatibility of RESparticles was preliminary assessed through MTT toxicity assay.

AB  - Roots of the willow gentian (Gentiana asclepiadea L., Gentianaceae) are used in folk medicine to treat gastrointestinal diseases.Spray drying is the most commonly used technique for microencapsulation of plant extracts in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries. The choosing of suitable carriers is one of the critical points in the development of microencapsulated powder with the desired physicochemical properties.The extract of the willow gentian roots was spray-dried using different carriers (maltodextrin (MD) and whey protein (WP)at concentrations of 20, 40, and 60%; pectin (P), starch (S), and gelatin (G) at concentrations of 2.5, 5, and 7.5%).The aim of this study was to examine the ability of the obtained powdersto dissolveand absorb water.For this purpose, the values of water solubility (WSI) and water absorption index (WAI) were determined.WSI is a measure of the powder degradation and dissolving in water, while WAI represents an indicator of water absorption ability. It is desirable that instant tea powders show high WSI and low WAI values.WSI values ranged from 71.15% (7.5% P) to 91.94% (7.5% G) indicating good powder disintegration properties. Concentration-dependent decrease in WSI values was observed for WP, P and S, while the opposite trend was observed in the case of MD.The carrier-free powdershowed relatively low WAI value (13.32%). Powders with 20% MD and 5% S showed slightly lower WAI values (12.77 and 12.72%, respectively). On the other hand, powders with 5 and 7.5% P showed remarkably high WAI values of 91.59 and 91.49%, respectively. A concentration-dependent increase in WAI was observed in powders encapsulated withMD and WP.All encapsulated powders showed acceptable disintegration properties (high WSI), while in terms of water absorption (low WAI) powders with 20% MD and 5% S were the most suitable.

AB  - Synthesis of monosized and spherical Up-Converting NanoParticles (UCNPs) with biocompatible surface are of a great interest because of their potential application in biomedicine as biomarkers or drug delivery systems. Among different synthesis routes reported in the literature, a hydro/solvo thermal method is consider to be most potential one for scaling-up due fact that is simple and economically cost-effective. In this work the synthesis of NaY0.65Gd0.15F4:Yb,Er UCNPs were performed through chitosan assistant solvothermal synthesis at 200oC. Variation of precursors concentration, type of solvent and synthesis time were performed in order to explore their influence on the structural, morphological and optical properties of the UCNPs. The XRD analysis showed that with a smaller surplus of fluoride ions the formation of Y0.65Gd0.15F4:Yb,Er orthorhombic phase occurs, while the increase of fluoride content or reaction time leads to NaY0.65Gd0.15F4:Yb,Er cubic phase formation. Along with it, the changes of UCNPs morphology from spindle to spherical shape is detected. All samples emitintense green emission due to the (2H11/2, 4S3/2) → 4I15/2electronic transitions, after been excited with infrared light (λ=978 nm).

AB  - In this work we present new up-conversion materials, consisted of SrGd2O4 matrix co-doped with different Yb3+ (1, 2.5 and 5 at%) and constant Er3+ (0.5 at%) concentrations, prepared by gycine-assisted combustion method. X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) showed that assynthesized nanoparticles have orthorhombic structure (Pnma), assigned to the JCPDS Card No:01-072-6387. Rietveld refinement indicated a decrease in the size of the unit cell, lattice parameters, and cell volume, due to successful doping of Yb3+ and Er3+ ions into the matrix. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that obtained nanostructure is composed of agglomerated nanoparticles, while energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) confirmed uniform distribution of all constituting elements in them. Up-conversion (UC) luminescence spectra measured in function of laser pumping power indicated that two-photon UC process is established in nanoparticles as a result of the trivalent erbium f-f electronic transitions: there are two green emission bands at 523 and 551 nm (2H11/2, 4S3/2 → 4I15/2) and a red emission band at 661 nm (4F9/2 → 4I15/2). The rise of Yb3+ concentration from 1 to 5 at% provokes a considerable change of the green to red ratio which indicates the possibility to optimize the color output.

AB  - Structures and different life functions of microorganisms, like motion, are based on molecular biology processes, which comprise molecular and submolecular particles. It is very important to determine relation between molecular and microorganisms levels. The aim of our research is the analysis of Brownian motion as a general phenomenon and the consequence of structures hierarchy from molecular to microorganisms level. If we approach this idea from the aspect of biomimetic correlations at the level of the alive and nonalive matter system particles, the condensed matter particles could be considered as a part of micro, nano and molecular microorganisms structures. In this research we used the experimental results of bacterial motion influenced by different energy impulses. The important goal of this research paper is to obtain significant data regarding Brownian motion in the frame of fractal nature similarities, as an integrative property of living and nonliving systems particles processes. This opens new frontiers for submicroelectronics relations within the integrated supermicro biophysical systems. This is a potential new trend in nowadays advanced research, where we integrate the knowledges of complex relations between the electrons or other particles and their clusters as joint structures in alive and condensed matter, what could be a possible direction for new microelectronics complex biodevices and integrations.

Predloženim rešenjem, za razliku od standardnog, koje koristi generator slučajnih brojeva i precizni i tačni digitalno-analogni konvertor (DAK), se prevazilazi problem ograničene rezolucije DAK-a i njegov uzak propusni opseg.
