Three-Axis’ Heat Loss Anemometer Comprising Thick-Film Segmented Thermistors

AB  - NTC thick-film segmented thermistors were used as anemometer sensing devices. They were screen printed of thick-film thermistor paste based on modified NiMn2O4 fine powder, organic vehicle, and glass frit. Their electrical properties, such as resistance vs. temperature R(T) and thermistor exponential factor B were obtained using measurements in the climatic test chamber. A uniaxial anemometer was formed using a thick-film segmented thermistor, which was placed in the hole drilled in rectangular piece of thermally insulating material. The uniaxial anemometer was used for the optimization of operating point of segmented thermistors as self-heating/wind sensing devices. The dc supply voltage was correlated with the air temperature sub-ranges (RCV). The power save mode such as 30s self-heating/5 min pause was used to measure the thermistor response on stable wind blow. The three-axis' anemometer was formed using five sensor devices placed in five holes drilled in the cubical piece of thermally insulating material: three thermistor sensors measure wind speed on the x, y, z - axes, the fourth sensor Pt 1000 measures the air temperature T, while the fifth sensor (capacitive type) measures humidity H. The obtained sensitivity and inaccuracy were compared with respective ones of other anemometers.

AB  - Grain size and morphology of BaTiO3-ceramics are very important characteristics in developing new dielectric devices. Samples with different additives were sintered at different temperatures and times. The microstructure of the samples was observed using scanning electron microscope (SEM). Experimental results indicated well-developed morphology of BaTiO3-ceramics from nano- to micro- scales, with the standard ceramics consolidation procedure. It is observed that the morphology of grains is the function of additives, sintering temperature and sintering time. However, image analysis of grain growth indicated that sintering temperature has a strong impact on the morphology and grain size of the samples in the temperature range 1240 °C to 1380 °C. Kinetic exponents and grain growth fractal dimensions were obtained with the collecting the parameters of same grain exposed to five magnifications by SEM imaging and using appropriate processing software for grain-shape fractal reconstruction. The main results in this paper established the relation between sintering consolidation process and fractal nature influence, as well as complex fractal correction on sintering temperature.

AB  - Jedan od osnovnih komponenata tehnološkog razvoja u 20. veku predstavlja intenzivan razvoj saobraćaja i raznih vidova transportnih sredstava. U ovom radu je prikazano kako je veliki pronalazač i vizionar, Nikola Tesla video i šta je radio na razvoju transportnih sredstava sa električnim pogonom na kopnu, železnici, u vazduhu i vodi, i kako su se ta sredstva razvijala do danas. 
Posebno je objašnjeno Teslino podržavanje razvoja električnih vozila (EV). Početkom 20 veka, pojavom snažnijih i robusnijih vozila pokretanih motorima sa unutrašnjim sagorevanjem (SUS) razvoj EV je zapostavljen i potisnut u stranu. U našoj zemlji je proučavanje EV započeto sredinom druge polovine prošlog veka i napravljeno je više uspešnih eksperimenata. Zbog određenih prednosti koje poseduju, postoje velika očekivanja dalje primene EV.
U nastavku je prikazan razvoj električnih pogona na šinskim vozilima. Mada je prvo šinsko vozilo napravljeno još 1839. godine, električni pogon šinskih vozila obeležio je drugu polovinu 20. veka. Krajem 20. veka realizovani su pogoni brzih vozova sa linearnim magnetskim poljem i magnetskom levitacijom (Maglev). Krajem 19. veka je već postojao električni pogon podmornica jednosmernim sistemom. U radu je objašnjeno Teslino zalaganje za razvoj električnih pogona najvećih brodova sa električnim pogonom, tako da je i prvi nosač aviona 1927. godine posedovao naizmenični pogon. Na nekim vrstama brodova tehničke flote kao i naftnim platformama sa dinamičkim pozicioniranjem električni pogon nije nikada napušten. Danas se skoro svi veliki putnički brodovi prave sa Azipod električnim pogonom. Za posebne namene proučavaju se i nove vrste pogona brodova i podmornica, kao što je magnetohidrodinamička (MHD).
Posebna pažnja posvećena je projektima u vezi sa transportnim sredstvima u čijoj realizaciji je učestvovao Institut tehničkih nauka SANU.
AB  - One of the main components of technological development in the 20th century represents the intensive development of transport and various types of all types of transport vehicles. This paper shows how great inventor and visionary Nikola Tesla saw and what he did to develop the means of transportation with electric drive on land, rail, air and water, and how these resources are developed to today.
Tesla,s supporting of the development of electric vehicles (EV) has been special explained.  In the early 20th century, with the advent of more powerful and robust vehicle driven by internal combustion engines (SUS), EV development was neglected and pushed aside. The research of EV in our country started at the middle of the second half of the last century and ever since more successful experiments was delivered. Due to certain advantages they possess, there are great expectations of pursuing the EV.
Paper further presents the development of electric drives on rail vehicles. Although the first rail vehicle was made in 1839, electrically powered rail vehicles marked the second half of the 20th century. By the end of the 20th century were implemented high-speed train drives with a linear magnetic field and magnetic levitation (Maglev).
At the end of the 19th century there was already electric propelled submarine with DC system. The paper explains Tesla's commitment to the development of electric drive ships with the greatest electric drive, so that the first aircraft carrier in 1927 possessed alternating drive. For some types of technical fleet ships and oil rigs with dynamic positioning, electric drive was never abandoned. Today, almost all large passenger vessels are made with Azipod electric propulsion. For the specific purposes, new type of propulsion of ships and submarines are researched, one of which is magneto hydrodynamic (MHD).
Special attention is given the projects related to transport means in its realization participated Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA.

State of development and perspective of the electric vehicles

AB  - First EV has been made in in 1837. This type of motor vehicles has dominated throughout the whole 19th century. In the early 20th century the faster and more robust vehicles with ICE overcame them until late 20th century, when ecological and economic problems of further application of these vehicles have emerged. The interest in EV has risen sharply. Researches are working in several directions in order to reduce the need for oil derivatives considering that the EV's are weak primarily due to inferior "reservoir of energy" to fully meet the current driving habits. Savings can be achieved in two ways, by making more economic motor vehicles or by the use of alternative fuels. Combining an electric propulsion and IC engine drives a hybrid vehicle is obtained, with a greater amount of batteries and "plug in" that is to some extent possible to reduce fossil fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Intensive research work on exploring new battery is still to come. Today promising results with Li - air batteries, fuel cells and super capacitors, as well as the efforts of major car manufacturers indicate that the EV could soon appear massive in the streets of cities. This paper deals with the development of EV, following the development of powertrain and can conclude the fact that in the near future this type of drive could return.

Combining an electric propulsion and IC engine drives a hybrid vehicle is obtained, with a greater amount of batteries and "plug in" that is to some extent possible to reduce fossil fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Intensive research work on exploring new battery is still to come. Today promising results with Li - air batteries, fuel cells and super capacitors, as well as the efforts of major car manufacturers indicate that the EV could soon appear massive in the streets of cities. This paper deals with the development of EV, following the development of powertrain and can conclude the fact that in the near future this type of drive could return.",

AB  - The reasons, reconstruction and some characteristics of the special purpose river ship BPN-30 "Kozara" are presented in this paper. The ship is equipped with two diesel aggregate power of 400 kW each, which drive two electric motors power of 250 kW each, bow thruster power of 90kW and supply ship electrical grid with power of 90 kW. Main diesel electric generators can operate independently or in parallel operation. On board the auxiliary diesel aggregate is set to supply the ship with electricity with the power of 70 kW while on shore connection. The performed testing of the ship show a significant improvement of the manoeuvring and propulsion characteristics of the ship compared to conventional diesel-powered two engines, rated power 294,4 kW each. The paper outlines other advantages of the ship with electric propulsion as it increases in the comfort of the crew and downstream economical cruising with a single diesel engine in the operation. It can be concluded that the diesel electric drive shows a number of advantages for the operation of river ships that can be used for different drives of river ships.

AB  - U radu je opisan sistem za navodnjavanje poljoprivrednih dobara koji obezbedjuje tokom letnjih meseci do 12m3 vode za zalivanje sa dubine od 30m. Navodnjavanje poljoprivrednih dobara je poznat problem u sušnim oblastima gde ne postoji priključak uredjaja za navodnjavanje na elektrodistributivnu mrežu. Prikazani su rezultati merenja dobijene električne energije iz fotonaponskih ćelija tokom letnjih meseci 2012. godine kao osnov za dopunjavanje olovnih akumulatorskih baterija. Prikazana je Q-H kriva potapajuće vibracione pumpe „Katex“, 220W korišćena za ispitivanja sistema koji obezbedjuju dnevnu količinu vode od 12m3. Na osnovu obavljenih ispitivanja, projektovan je i prikazan sistem solarnog navodnjavanja malih poljoprivrednih dobara sa osnovnim komponentama i nekim ekonomskim pokazateljima.
AB  - The solar irrigation system that provides agricultural farm during the summer months, up to 12m3 irrigation water from a depth of 30m is presented in this paper. Irrigation is well known problem in the dry regions where there is no possibility connection of the irrigation equipment to the electric distribution network. The results of measurements the generated electric energy from photovoltaic cells during the summer 2012th, as a basis for recharging lead-acid batteries are shown in this paper. The Q-H curve of the vibration submersible pump „Katex“ 220W used for testing systems shows that it can provide daily irrigation water than 12m3. Based on the testing results, solar irrigation system for small agricultural farms was designed and presented with the basic components and some economic indicators.

AB  - The energy efficient solution of autonomous power supply of consumers during the year, by using of a hybrid (photovoltaic and diesel aggregates) sources in the monastery Chilandar is presented in this paper. In details optimal load of diesel aggregate is discussed with a minimum consumption of fossil fuels. The results of the one year exploitation of the electricity generated from photovoltaic panels in our conditions are presented as well. Taking into consideration the specific location and importance of the monastery, the current and future needs of the monastery and particular way of life of the monks, the new hybrid system for the daily consumption of 400 kWh of energy and peak load of 80 kW has been designed and explained. It is based on the combined use of the three diesel power generators 2 x 40 kW and 80 kW, photovoltaic rated power 75 kW and battery pack for energy storage of 400 kWh. The primary objective of the new system is to reduce the consumption of diesel fuel and operating costs for the system power consumption.
AB  - U ovom radu je opisano energetski efikasno rešenje autonomnog napajanja potrošača tokom godine, korišćenjem hibridnog (solarne i dizel agregata) izvora u manastiru Hilandaru. Detaljnije je razmotreno optimalno opterećenje dizel agregata sa minimalnom potrošnjom fosilnih goriva. Prikazani su rezultati jednogodišnjeg ispitivanja, u našim uslovima, dobijanja električne energije iz fotonaponskih panela. Imajući u vidu specifičnu lokaciju i značaj manastira, sadašnje i buduće potrebe manastira i specifičan način života monaha, nov hibridni sistem za dnevnu potrošnju od 400 kWh električne energije i vršno opterećenje od 80 kW je projektovan i objašnjen. Zasniva na kombinovanom korišćenju tri dizel generatora snage 2 x 40 kW i 80 kW, fotonaponskih nominalne snage 75 kW i baterije za skladištenje energije od 400 kW. Primarni cilj novog sistema je da smanji potrošnju dizel goriva i operativnih troškova za potrošnju energije sistema.

AB  - This paper proposes a hybrid autonomous electricity supply system for monasteries as a specific type of load. Chilandar monastery (Mount Athos, Greece) was presented as a case study. Taking into consideration specific location, historical significance, present and future needs of the monastery, and peculiar life style of its inhabitants, a new hybrid system for 400 kWh daily energy consumption and 80 kW peak load have been designed, proposed and elaborated here. It is based on combined use of three new diesel aggregates and a field of photovoltaic panels. Paper further outlines the methodology for selection and sizing up of power generating sources and other equipment. The primary goal for the new system was the reduction of diesel fuel and operational costs. Finally, cost-benefit analysis results of the proposed hybrid system are presented as well.

AB  - The major advantages of electric propulsion compared to conventional power transmission drive of diesel engine to the wheels are presented and explained. It is in briefly showed development of some electrical vehicles in our country. The analysis of the electric drive showed some advantages of electric propulsion, such as operation without thermo emission of the vehicle, improved maneuvering and noiseless operating of the vehicle and saving fossil fuel. For any applications, hybrid vehicles have some good features of electric drive and vehicles with IC engines. Some military applications in the world of electric vehicle will be shown in this paper.

AB  - This paper presents one possible solution of hybrid electrical power supply for military units without electric connection to electric distribution network. The hybrid photovoltaic and diesel aggregates island's power supply with maximal power of 80 kW and daily energy of 400 kWh is shown in this paper. The advantages of this system are: reduced consumption of fossil fuels, efficient use of fossil fuels, reduced emissions, improved energy system reliability, ensuring continuous electric supply and increasing life of diesel engines. The working concept is such that hybrid system uses photovoltaic panels for prime power and diesel generators as a secondary source of energy. We expect creating such a system as a test installation, soon.

AB  - This paper describes the overall system design and relevant performance characteristics of total Flight Test Instrumentation Systems (FTI) based on PCM/FM telemetry technique for aircraft testing first implemented in Former Yugoslav Flight Test Centre (FTC). Design and implementation of the FTI System is very important for successful evaluation of the testing prototype of vehicle. The system encompasses subsystems for airborne data acquisition and flight line check-out, a mobile ground telemetry system, and a fixed facility. The fixed facility includes a ground telemetry system for real time data processing and test control, and a data processing system for postflight analysis. The system represents a fully integrated approach to flight test systems which addresses the end-to-end requirements from airborne data acquisition and real time flight monitoring through aircraft performance and stability/control analysis. The architecture of the ground systems illustrates how preprocessing can be utilized to create powerful real time telemetry systems even with modest general purpose computer capability.

AB  - Ceramic materials with a perovskite related structures such as non-doped and doped barium titanate ceramics are attracting much interest for their application as capacitor dielectrics, resistors, thermal sensors, etc. Since mechanical activation can be used in order to modify properties of these materials, in this study microstructure evolution and electric properties of mechanically activated BaTiO3 have been analyzed. The sintering process of high purity non-doped mechanically activated BaTiO3 was monitored using a sensitive dilatometer with a heating rate of 10 degrees C/min. Investigation of the microstructure evolution of mechanically activated BaTiO3 was performed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and digital pattern recognition (DPR) methods. A dielectric study of the paraelectric-ferroelectric phase transition in the barium titanate ceramics was performed by recording the temperature dependence of dielectric permittivity.

Metod za određivanje efikasnosti sistema aktivne katodne zaštite plovnih objekata od korozije

AB  - Korozija podvodnog dela trupa broda je jedan od izuzetno važnih problema u brodogradnji. Pored osnovnog načina zaštite dobijenog organskim premazima, postoji tendencija primene aktivne katodne zaštite pomoću spoljašnjeg izvora jednosmerne struje. Time se obezbeđuje znatno veći stepen zaštite čelika od korozije.
U radu su navedeni faktori koji utiču na koroziju kao i njihovo međusobno dejstvo. Predstavljena je električne shema dvojnog električnog sloja i polarizacionih krivih, pri koroziji metala u morskoj i rečnoj vodi. Izvršeno je matematičko modelovanje anode, čelika koji se štiti, kao i sredine u kojoj se obavlja korozija. 
Prikazani su rezultati merenja oštećenja na brodu usled korozije a koji je proveo preko 20 godina u eksploataciji. Dati su osnovni podaci o sistemu aktivne katodne zaštite. 
Data su analitička rešenja nekih dvodimenzionalnih i trodimenzionalnih rešenja za idealizovane slučajeve. Prikazan je numerički metod za rešavanje eliptičkih parcijalnih diferencijalnih jednačina koji se koristi za računanje potencijalnog polja oko trupa broda, kao i numerički dobijeni rezultati raspodele potencijala na trupu broda sa jednom, ili obe elektrode. 
Navedeni su rezultati merenja zaštitnog potencijala na brodu dizalici koji se nalazi u bazenu brodogradilišta "Beograd". Prikazani su rezultati merenja prirodnog potencijala korozije, brzine porasta kao i pada zaštitnog potencijala. Na kraju je data mreža mernih tačaka sa izmerenim potencijalom trupa broda u ustaljenom stanju. Izvršeno je poređenje numeričkih i analitičkih rešenja sa eksperimentalno dobijenim podacima. 
Istaknut je praktičan značaj primene rezultata istraživanja datih u ovoj disertaciji. Posebno treba istaći činjenicu da je eksperiment izveden na realnom objektu i da su pri tome rešeni gotovo svi praktični problemi prilikom ugradnje i primene ovog sistema zaštite od korozije. Treba istaći 
anode i okoloanodne ekrane, referentne elektrode, ispravljače za ovu namenu, kablovske prolaze i drugo. Na osnovu ovog rada stvorena je podloga da se ovaj sistem može ugrađivati na realnim objektima i praktično koristiti.
AB  - The corrosion of the underwater part of the ship hull is one of the very important problems in shipbuilding. Beside the elementary way of protection, made by the organic paint, there is a tendency of applying the impressed current system (active cathodic protection) with help of exterior source of the direct current. There is a way to achieve the higher degree of protecting the steel from the corrosion. 
The factors that have an influence to the corrosion and their mutual action are presented in this paper. It is also presented an electric scheme of double electric layer an polar curve, by corrosion of the metal in sea and river water. It is made the mathematic model of the anode, the protecting steel and of the water. 
This paper includes also, the results of measuring the damages on the ship, which is more than 20 years in exploitation, caused by the corrosion. There are also given the elementary data about the impressed current system of cathodic protection. 
The analytical solutions of some two dimensional or three dimensional solutions for ideal cases are also presented. It is shown the numerical method for elliptical partial differential equations, which serves for calculating the potential field around the ship hull. The numerically received results of the potential distribution on the ship hill with one or both electrodes is also given.
There are quoted also the results of measuring the protecting potential on the ship, located in the Shipyard "Beograd". The results of measuring the natural potential of the corrosion, the changing of the protecting potential are presented. It is shown the screen of the measuring potential of the ship hull in steady condition. The numerical and analytical solutions with experimentally received data are compared. 
It is emphasized the practical importance of the use of researching results, that are presented in this dissertation. The experiment is done on the real object and that way, almost all practical problems about the application of this system are solved. There are anodes, dielectric shield, reference electrode, rectifier for this use, cable coffer dam, etc. This paper shows that, based on the facts that are presented, this system could be built-in on the real objects and it could be practically used.

This paper includes also, the results of measuring the damages on the ship, which is more than 20 years in exploitation, caused by the corrosion. There are also given the elementary data about the impressed current system of cathodic protection. 
The analytical solutions of some two dimensional or three dimensional solutions for ideal cases are also presented. It is shown the numerical method for elliptical partial differential equations, which serves for calculating the potential field around the ship hull. The numerically received results of the potential distribution on the ship hill with one or both electrodes is also given.
There are quoted also the results of measuring the protecting potential on the ship, located in the Shipyard "Beograd". The results of measuring the natural potential of the corrosion, the changing of the protecting potential are presented. It is shown the screen of the measuring potential of the ship hull in steady condition. The numerical and analytical solutions with experimentally received data are compared. 
It is emphasized the practical importance of the use of researching results, that are presented in this dissertation. The experiment is done on the real object and that way, almost all practical problems about the application of this system are solved. There are anodes, dielectric shield, reference electrode, rectifier for this use, cable coffer dam, etc. This paper shows that, based on the facts that are presented, this system could be built-in on the real objects and it could be practically used.",
