AB - Cultural heritage is an important part of the cultural identity of any nation. The care of cultural heritage includes the protection and preservation of the material heritage of the majority nation and the heritage of all other ethnic communities that have left their cultural traces in the area under consideration. The protection of cultural heritage reflects the maturity of a society. That’s why the approach to the protection of cultural monuments should not be selective, narrow and strictly national, but comprehensive, preserving the cultural values of earlier eras and peoples as a general civilisational asset. The research aims to reveal how today’s youth perceive the Ottoman heritage in Serbia, their emotional relationship with it, and whether they recognise the Ottoman heritage as a possible resource for tourism in Serbia. The results indicate that the student population perceives the positive aspects of the Ottoman era in this region, as reflected in the legacy of Oriental culture and the multi-ethnic and multicultural order, to a large extent. Architectural heritage, gastronomy and intangible heritage (language and literature, legends, music, dances, traditions) are largely recognised as representative of the Ottoman cultural heritage and foreign influences on national culture. Their potential for tourism has also been recognised. However, the possible obstacles in the development process of the cultural route are foreseen in strong nationalism and negative collective memory, which were identified as key barriers.

AB - After being entered the UNESCO List of intangible heritage, traditional sports and games (TSG)
were officially recognized as a significant segment of cultural heritage and local identity (Bjeljac, Brankov & Ćurčić, 2021). In the last few decades, various declarations have highlighted the importance of TSG, as well as the need for their protection and affirmation in a new way to save them from disappearing (UNESCO, 2017). The research analyzes the preliminary results of a project dealing with restoring and preserving TSG through different types of community involvement. A specific part of the project included conducting survey research and organizing a focus group. The survey results confirmed that respondents never played most of TSG and numerous sports and games (more than 60% on the offered list) were entirely unknown to them. The majority of respondents (59%) think that youth are not interested in the preservation of TSG. Only one-third of survey participants (35%) visited an event that promotes these sports, which urges the need for affirmation of such events and increasing the interest of the community. Over 60% of the respondents support the attitude that traditional sports can be marketed through tourism and vast majority (89%) believe that these sports provide an opportunity for tourists to become familiar with folk traditions and
get involved in these games. The survey results pointed out insufficient promotion of TSG through all types of media and the offer of rural, cultural and sports-recreational tourism. Implementation of a focus group, with the participation of experts of various profiles, enabled the creation of the necessary guidelines for the preservation and promotion of TSG. The significance of educating the local communities, as well as children and youth, together with the realization of certain thematic events, primarily in urban areas, were specifically highlighted.

AB - Cultural heritage as attractive sites lead to tourism development. However, tourism and other economic activities can affect the degradation of cultural heritage and environment in its surroundings. Besides official data, at the local level, surveys involving the local population can significantly help to assess the state of the environment and cultural heritage. Survey research that examines the residents’ perception is often used in the assessment of tourism impact on natural resources pollution (Milanović Pešić et al, 2023), and on environment and cultural heritage degradation (Agisilaos, 2012). This study aims to examine the residents’ attitudes on the interaction between environmental pollution and tangible cultural heritage at the municipality level in Serbia. Preliminary results indicate that a third of respondents (35.9%) believe that the environment near the most significant cultural heritage in their municipality is moderately polluted. Analyzing the pollution level of natural resources, more than a third of respondents believe that surface (39.5%) and underground water (34.9%), soil (37.0%), and air (32.3%) are moderately polluted. An equal number of respondents (23.6%) think that air and surface water are significantly polluted. Air was singled out by the most respondents (10.3%) as a highly polluted natural resource. In addition, half of respondents believe that tangible cultural heritage in their municipality is most threatened by intensive
construction in the surrounding area (53.3%). A more detailed analysis in this study includes the correlation of residents’ responses and variables, such as geospatial distribution of
respondents, age and sex structure, and education level. The obtained results can serve as additional data on the environment quality at the local level, the residents’ perception of the existing and potential sources of environmental pollution, and their impact on tangible cultural heritage. This can serve stakeholders and decision-makers in sustainable cultural heritage management, as well as environmental protection.

AB - The history and cultural memory of hajduk's and uskok's movements in the Balkan territory are well-documented, and even became recognized as a part of tangible and intangible heritage through the Balkan region. The historical and cultural importance of those movements is mostly reflected in oral epic literature, toponomastics, and some local traditions and customs. The research aims to analyze the contexts of "hajduks and uskoks" heritage in the territory of former Yugoslavia (Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro), and in particular, the reflections of cultural remains of those movements emphasized in oral traditions and traditional sports and games as intangible cultural heritage of the region. Special focus is placed on various traditional "hajduk games and skills" which were transmitted to the traditional sports events, and reflect great similarities on a regional level. This is confirmed by a comparison of selected events of the ex-Yugoslav area within different contexts. These events are perceived as part of living folk culture and sort of public memorialization of hajduk's and uskok's movements and historic battles, recently becoming a prospective element of intangible cultural heritage with international recognition (eg. Nevesinje Olympics, Alka of Sinj, Ljubičevo Equestrian Games, etc.). However, under the process of popularization and globalization, traditional folk sports and games became a sort of invented tradition under the process of commoditization and commercialization. The scopes and popularity of such sports events and traditions are limited and endangered, demanding more public attention, reaffirmation and support.

jačanje konkurentnosti i podizanje kvaliteta ponude, povećanje publiciteta i izgradnju imidža mesta/manifestacije i drugo.
Takođe, posetioci manifestacija su izloženi delovanju i nekih drugih negativnih pojava: džeparenja, krađe, zaraze, prevare prilikom menjanja novca, ponuda psihoaktivnih supstanci i drugih nevolja.
Proaktivan pristup bezbednosti na festivalu omogućiće veće zadovoljstvo posetilaca, bržu izgradnju brenda i dugoročan kontinuitet održavanja same manifestacije. Generalno, rezultati pokazuju da bezbednost turistâ predstavlja vodeći faktor konkurentnosti kako manifestacije tako i same turističke destinacije.

abstract = "Turizam je postao globalni fenomen i važan izvor prihoda za mnoge zemlje i regije.
jačanje konkurentnosti i podizanje kvaliteta ponude, povećanje publiciteta i izgradnju imidža mesta/manifestacije i drugo.
Takođe, posetioci manifestacija su izloženi delovanju i nekih drugih negativnih pojava: džeparenja, krađe, zaraze, prevare prilikom menjanja novca, ponuda psihoaktivnih supstanci i drugih nevolja.
Proaktivan pristup bezbednosti na festivalu omogućiće veće zadovoljstvo posetilaca, bržu izgradnju brenda i dugoročan kontinuitet održavanja same manifestacije. Generalno, rezultati pokazuju da bezbednost turistâ predstavlja vodeći faktor konkurentnosti kako manifestacije tako i same turističke destinacije.",
