AB  - BiFeO3 powders were synthesized by sonochemically assisted hydrothermal and hydro-evaporation methods. The X-ray diffraction confirmed the presence of secondary phases, Bi25FeO39 and Bi2Fe4O9, in as prepared BiFeO3 powders. Optimization of sintering conditions indicated that temperature of 800 °C and time of 2 h after pressing at 9 t/cm2 provided ceramics samples with the highest density (up to 96% of theoretical density) and the lowest content of secondary phases. Ferroelectric and magnetic characterization was performed on two selected ceramics samples with the highest densities. Ceramics obtained from the powder synthesized by the hydrothermal method showed greater lattice distortion along [1 1 1] axis and smaller grains, which resulted in larger values of electric polarization at room temperature. It also exhibited less Fe(3d)–O(2p) orbital overlapping due to a larger FeOFe bond angle, causing lower antiferromagnetic ordering and weak ferromagnetic behavior at low temperatures.

Electrical and transport properties of nickel manganite obtained by Hall effect measurements

AB  - Intrinsic resistivity and carrier transport parameters of sintered nickel manganite samples (NTC thermistor grade) were determined using a Hall effect measurement system based on the van der Pauw method. Powder mixtures composed of MnO, NiO and with small amounts of CoO and Fe 2O 3 were free surface energy activated by milling in an ultra fast planetary mill for 5, 15, 30, 45 and 60 min. The powders were uniaxially pressed with 196 MPa into discs and sintered at 1200 °C for 60 min. Full characterization of nickel manganite samples was done using SEM, EDS and XRD analysis. The Hall effect was measured at different temperatures (room temperature, 50, 80, 100 and 120 °C) with an applied field of 0.37 T and also 0.57 T at room temperature. The activation energy E a (energy of conduction) and the coefficient of temperature sensitivity B 25/80, were calculated from measured resistivity values. The measured mobility, resistivity/conductivity, U-I plots, and Hall coefficients were mutually compared and correlated versus microstructure development and macroscopic parameters such as the powder activation time and ambient temperature. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2008.

AB  - Single crystal samples of lead telluride doped with Pr were produced using the Bridgman method. Far infrared spectra of the samples doped with 0.15 at%, 0.25 at% and 0.6 at% Pr are presented. The experimental data were numerically analyzed using a fitting procedure based on the plasmon-phonon interaction model and optical parameters were determined. Two local modes of praseodium were observed at about 158 cm-1 and 257 cm-1 at room temperature. The origin of the local modes was discussed. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

AB  - Far infrared reflectivity spectra of single crystal PbTe samples doped with 0.2 at% Fe were measured in the temperature range between 10 K and 300 K. These spectra show very sharp and narrow dips below 120 cm-1. The experimental data were numerically analyzed using a fitting procedure based on the plasmon-phonon interaction model. Two local modes were observed. The first one was noted between 130 cm-1 and 170 cm-1 depending on the temperature and the second more frequency stable one was noted at about 230 cm-1.

These spectra show very sharp and narrow dips below 120 cm-1. The experimental data were numerically analyzed using a fitting procedure based on the plasmon-phonon interaction model. Two local modes were observed. The first one was noted between 130 cm-1 and 170 cm-1 depending on the temperature and the second more frequency stable one was noted at about 230 cm-1.",

AB  - Single crystal samples of lead-telluride doped with Ytterbium were made using the Bridgman method. Far infrared reflectivity spectra in the temperature range from 10 to 300 K were measured. Analysis of the experimental spectra was made using a fitting procedure based on the model of plasma-phonon interactions and the optical parameters were calculated. Two local impurity modes of Ytterbium were observed at about 160 and 250 cm-1. © 2007.

AB  - Polarized far- and mid-infrared reflectance spectra were measured at room temperature for the new mineral species jarandolite, CaB3O4(OH)(3), for the two principal directions. Thirty three vibration modes for (E) over right arrow parallel to(c) over right arrowc and 32 for (E) over right arrow perpendicular to(c) over right arrow were observed and analysed numerically. Symmetry analysis predicts 41 (E) over right arrow parallel to(c) over right arrow and 40 (E) over right arrow perpendicular to(c) over right arrow vibration modes that include lattice and O-H modes. Mode assignment was made based on the structure of jarandolite. The values of the mode frequencies (omega(TO)), the damping factors (gamma) and the oscillator strength (S) of each oscillator were obtained by fitting to a Lorentz model.

AB  - Single phase complex spinel (Mn, Ni, Co, Fe)(3)O-4 samples were sintered at 1050, 1200 and 1300 degrees C for 30 min and at 1200 degrees C for 120 min. Morphological changes of the obtained samples with the siDtering temperature and time were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Room temperature far infrared reflectivity spectra for all samples were measured in the frequency range between 50 and 1200 cm(-1). The obtained spectra for all samples showed the presence of the same oscillators, but their intensities increased with the sintering temperature and time in correlation with the increase in sample density and microstructure changes during sintering. The measured spectra were numerically analyzed using the Kramers-Kronig method and the four-parameter model of coupled oscillators. Optical modes were calculated for six observed ionic oscillators belonging to the spinel structure of (Mn, Ni, Co, Fe)(3)O-4 of which four were strong and two were weak.

AB  - Single crystals of PbTe(Ni) were investigated by the photoacoustic method. They were produced using the Bridgeman method. These crystals have a sodium chloride cubic lattice and could be cleaved paralel to the plane orientation (200). They were of the n-type. Phase and amplitude photoacoustic spectra were measured using a transmision detection configuration set-up. Photoacoustic (PA) spectra (single and normalized) were numerically analyzed using the Rosencwaig-Gersho model. Thermal diffusivity and some electron-transport parameters were determined. These results were compared with existing results for pure single crystal PbTe. Thermal difusivity of PbTe(Ni) is a bit higher than the thermal difusivity of pure PbTe. This is the consequence of a decreasing concentration of the majority free carriers in the doped alloy.

Powder mixtures composed of MnO, NiO, CoO and Fe2O3 were milled to nanometer particle size. NTC discs were dry powder pressed and sintered at different temperatures in the range from 900 degrees C to 1300 degrees C for 30 min. A second group of NTC discs was sintered at 1200 degrees C with the sintering time varying from 30 min to 360 min. These NTC samples were polished and exposed to a chopped laser beam in order to plot a response in the acoustic range. The thermal diffusivity of sintered NTC layers based on a metal oxide powder mixture was measured at room temperature by the photoacoustic technique. An increase of thermal diffusivity with the sintering temperature and time of sintering was observed.

AB  - NTC thermistor powder was made of a Mn, Ni, Fe and Co oxide mixture calcinated at 1050°C / 60 min. The powder was milled in a ball mill down to an average particle diameter of 0.9 μm. Small disc shaped pills of the powder obtained were made by pressing with a pressure of 2.5 MPa. The pills were sintered in the temperature range of 900-1400 °C for 30-240 min. The volume and specific volume resistivity change were measured as a function of sintering conditions. Microstructure development was observed using a SEM microscope. Using the results obtained, optimization of sintering parameters was performed in order to determine optimal electrical properties of the selected thermistor composition.

Uticaj dopiranja niklom na optička, transportna i neka toplotna svojstva olovo-telurida

AB  - Ova teza je nastala kao rezultat ispitivanja optičkih, transportnih i pojedinih toplotnih svojstava legure PbTe(Ni). Korišćena su dva monokristalna uzorka sa različitim sadržajem Ni, prvi-0.29 % Ni i drugi-sa nešto većom koncentracijom Ni (tačna brojna vrednost nije određena, ali je procenjena u intervalu (0.8-1)%). U cilju karakterizacije materijala urađena su sledeća eksperimentalna merenja: rendgenostrukturna analiza, Hall-ova merenja, daleka infracrvena spektroskopija, Auger-ova elektronska spektroskopija i fotoakustična merenja.
Rendgenostukturnom analizom je potvrđena monokristalna NaCl struktura kristalne rešetke i određeni su parametri rešetke za oba uzorka.
Na osnovu Hall-ovih merenja su izračunate koncentracija i pokretljivost većinskih nosilaca naelektrisanja (elektrona). Utvrđeno je da se prilikom hlađenja njihova koncentracija malo smanjuje, a pokretljivost povećava. Izmerena koncentracija elektrona je reda veličine 1015-1016 cm-3 što je znatno manje od koncentracije elektrona u čistom PbTe. Vrednosti za pokretljivost elektrona na sobnoj, odnosno, niskoj temperaturi, iako imaju isti red veličine kao odgovarajuće brojne vrednosti za čist PbTe, ipak se donekle razlikuju.
Merenjem i analizom dalekih IC spektara refleksije došlo se do sledećih rezultata:
-ustanovljena je jaka plazmon-fonon interakcija
-osim modova osnovnog kristala (ωLO=104 cm-1, ωTO(300K)=32 cm-1) registrovan je i primesni transverzalni mod nikla na 61 cm-1
-utvrđeno je da ne postoji strukturni fazni prelaz u temperaturnom opsegu od 10K do 300K na osnovu promene visokofrekventne dielektrične propustljivosti εω sa temperaturom, kao i na osnovu omekšavanja transverzalnog moda rešetke ωt
-koncentracija slobodnih nosilaca je znatno smanjena u odnosu na čist PbTe i pokazuje blago smanjenje sa snižavanjem temperature
-pokretljivost slobodnih nosilaca je uvećana u odnosu na čist PbTe, a sa snižavanjem temperature pokazuje postepeni porast.
Auger-ovom spektroskopskom analizom nije potvrđeno postojanje kontinualnog sloja TeO2 na površini uzorka.
Fotoakustičnom metodom su izmereni fazni i amplitudski spektri čijom numeričkom analizom su određeni toplotni i neki transportni elektronski parametri. U tom pogledu su favorizovani normalizovani dijagrami koji isključuju nepoželjan uticaj mernog sistema i karakteristiku mikrofona.
Rezultati ovih istraživanja pokazuju da je koncentracija većinskih nosilaca kod PbTe za dva do tri reda veličine smanjena njegovim legiranjem sa Ni zahvaljujući popunjavanju brojnih vakancija u njegovoj kristalnoj rešeci. Ovo ukazuje na mogućnost primene ovako dopiranog materijala za izradu optoelektronskih naprava sa poboljšanim karakteristikama u odnosu na primenu čistog PbTe.
U budućem radu nameravamo da se bavimo istraživanjem efekta magnetne otpornosti ovog materijala. Poznati su primeri proučavanja efekta negativne magnetne otpornosti u PbTe(Mn, Cr) i PbTe(Mn, Yb), kod kojih se ovaj efekat javlja na vrlo niskim temperaturama. Očekujemo da se ovaj efekat ispolji i kod PbTe(Ni) jer jon nikla ima značajan magnetni moment.

abstract = "Ova teza je nastala kao rezultat ispitivanja optičkih, transportnih i pojedinih toplotnih svojstava legure PbTe(Ni). Korišćena su dva monokristalna uzorka sa različitim sadržajem Ni, prvi-0.29 % Ni i drugi-sa nešto većom koncentracijom Ni (tačna brojna vrednost nije određena, ali je procenjena u intervalu (0.8-1)%). U cilju karakterizacije materijala urađena su sledeća eksperimentalna merenja: rendgenostrukturna analiza, Hall-ova merenja, daleka infracrvena spektroskopija, Auger-ova elektronska spektroskopija i fotoakustična merenja.
Rendgenostukturnom analizom je potvrđena monokristalna NaCl struktura kristalne rešetke i određeni su parametri rešetke za oba uzorka.
Na osnovu Hall-ovih merenja su izračunate koncentracija i pokretljivost većinskih nosilaca naelektrisanja (elektrona). Utvrđeno je da se prilikom hlađenja njihova koncentracija malo smanjuje, a pokretljivost povećava. Izmerena koncentracija elektrona je reda veličine 1015-1016 cm-3 što je znatno manje od koncentracije elektrona u čistom PbTe. Vrednosti za pokretljivost elektrona na sobnoj, odnosno, niskoj temperaturi, iako imaju isti red veličine kao odgovarajuće brojne vrednosti za čist PbTe, ipak se donekle razlikuju.
Merenjem i analizom dalekih IC spektara refleksije došlo se do sledećih rezultata:
-ustanovljena je jaka plazmon-fonon interakcija
-osim modova osnovnog kristala (ωLO=104 cm-1, ωTO(300K)=32 cm-1) registrovan je i primesni transverzalni mod nikla na 61 cm-1
-utvrđeno je da ne postoji strukturni fazni prelaz u temperaturnom opsegu od 10K do 300K na osnovu promene visokofrekventne dielektrične propustljivosti εω sa temperaturom, kao i na osnovu omekšavanja transverzalnog moda rešetke ωt
-koncentracija slobodnih nosilaca je znatno smanjena u odnosu na čist PbTe i pokazuje blago smanjenje sa snižavanjem temperature
-pokretljivost slobodnih nosilaca je uvećana u odnosu na čist PbTe, a sa snižavanjem temperature pokazuje postepeni porast.
Auger-ovom spektroskopskom analizom nije potvrđeno postojanje kontinualnog sloja TeO2 na površini uzorka.
Fotoakustičnom metodom su izmereni fazni i amplitudski spektri čijom numeričkom analizom su određeni toplotni i neki transportni elektronski parametri. U tom pogledu su favorizovani normalizovani dijagrami koji isključuju nepoželjan uticaj mernog sistema i karakteristiku mikrofona.
Rezultati ovih istraživanja pokazuju da je koncentracija većinskih nosilaca kod PbTe za dva do tri reda veličine smanjena njegovim legiranjem sa Ni zahvaljujući popunjavanju brojnih vakancija u njegovoj kristalnoj rešeci. Ovo ukazuje na mogućnost primene ovako dopiranog materijala za izradu optoelektronskih naprava sa poboljšanim karakteristikama u odnosu na primenu čistog PbTe.
U budućem radu nameravamo da se bavimo istraživanjem efekta magnetne otpornosti ovog materijala. Poznati su primeri proučavanja efekta negativne magnetne otpornosti u PbTe(Mn, Cr) i PbTe(Mn, Yb), kod kojih se ovaj efekat javlja na vrlo niskim temperaturama. Očekujemo da se ovaj efekat ispolji i kod PbTe(Ni) jer jon nikla ima značajan magnetni moment.",

The powder mixture was composed of MnO (60 percent), CoO (32 percent) and Fe2O3 (8 percent), which were ball milled to nanometer particle size. NTC layers of different thicknesses were made by sequentional screen‐printing followed by drying and co‐firing at 850, 900 and 1,000°C in a hybrid conveyor furnace. The experimental PA phase and amplitude diagrams were numerically analyzed and the thermal diffusivity and electron transport parameters were calculated. An increase of thermal diffusivity with sintering temperature was observed. The fractal structure model was in agreement with the experimental data for modulation frequencies in which the sample behaved as thermally thick.

Thermal diffusivity, coefficient of carrier diffusion, their lifetime, and the front and rear recombination velocity were calculated by comparing the experimental results with the theoretical photoacoustic amplitude and phase signals. As far as we know, no photoacoustic measurements on NiO samples have been made by now.

AB  - Thermal diffusivity and electric transport properties of fourteen years old superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-x pellets were obtained using the photoacoustic transmission technique and then compared with freshly made superconducting samples. The theoretical model for photoacoustic (PA) detection configuration is given. The measured amplitude and phase PA signals, as a function of the modulation frequency, were numerically analyzed. The thermal diffusivity, the coefficient of the carrier diffusion, optical absorption coefficient and the excess carrier lifetime were calculated. The thermal diffusivity of freshly produced samples decreased, after ageing, from about 1.3·10-6 to about 6.1·10-7 m2/s.
