Structural and magnetic characterization of LiMn1.825Cr0.175O4 spinel obtained by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis

AB  - Quaternary spinel oxide LiMn1.825Cr0.175O4 Powder was synthesized by using an ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method, without additional annealing. The crystal structure of the as-prepared powder was revealed by X-ray powder diffraction and identified as a single spinel phase with Fd3m space group. The powders had a spherical morphology with extremely smooth surface appearance and densely congested interior structure. Transmission electron microscopy confirmed that the particle consisted by the cohesion of the primary particles. Magnetic measurements performed in DC field in both zero-field-cooled and field-cooled regimes, as well as AC susceptibility experiments, show that system undergoes spin-glass transition at the freezing temperature T-f = 20 K. The value of the effective magnetic moment mu(eff) = 4.34 mu(B) Obtained from the Curie-Weiss fit in the high temperature region confirms the substitution of Mn3+ ions with Cr3+ ions. AB  - The synthesis of nanostructured zirconia particles from aqueous colloidal dispersion of zirconia (zirconia sol) was carried out by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method. The morphology of these nanostructured particles was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The synthesized particles are spherical in shape with the avarage size of 400 nm, consisting of smaller primary particles, with the mean crystallite size of 7 nm. The tetragonal phase was confirmed by both X-ray and electron diffraction measurements.

Screen printed BaTi1-xSnxO3 multilayer materials

AB  - BaTi1-xSnxO3 (BTS) piezoceramics with multilayer structure were prepared. The Sn concentration in the layers was changed from x=0.025 to 0.15. Thick films were screen-printed on alumina substrates electroded with Ag/Pd. The BTS piezoceramics were sintered at 850degreesC for 10 minutes. The thickness was 45-150 mum depending on the number of layers. The microstructure of piezoceramic materials and the compatibility of BTS layers with substrates were investigated by SEM and EDX. The dielectric properties were measured and the results reported.

AB  - Promena strukture i osobina biokompozitnog materijala HAp/PLLA tokom mehano­hemijskog tretmana predmet su analize u ovom radu. Smeša HAp/PLLA uparena je u vakuumu i zatim podvrgnuta suvom mlevenju u planetarnom mlinu do 480 minuta. Korišćene su rendgenostrukturna analiza (XRD), diferencijalna skanirajuća kalorimetrija (DSC), skenirajuća elektronska mikroskopija (SEM) transmisiona elektronska mikroskopija (TEM) i infracrvena spektroskopija (IR) za karakterizaciju dobijenog materijala. Na osnovu prime­njenih analiza utvđen je uticaj mehanohemijskog tretmana na promene kompozitnog biomaterijala. U najvećoj meri dolazi do smanjenja kristaliničnosti poli-L-laktida(PLLA) i smanjenja veličine kristalita hidroksiapatita (HAp). Sa povećanjem vremena mehano­hemijskog tretmana dobija se homogena raspodela faza.
AB  - Mechanochemically treated hydroxyapatite/poly-L-lactide (HAp/PLLA) composite biomaterial undergoes significant changes in structure and properties. These were the subject of the analysis presented in this paper. HAp/PLLA mixture was evaporated in vacuum and then subjected to dry milling in a planetary ball mill for 480 minutes. Characterization of the material obtained was carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), transmission electronic microscopy (TEM) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). These techniques confirmed that mechanochemical treatment induces changes in the composite biomaterial. The most significant changes are reduction of PLLA crystallinity and size of HAp crystalites. Homogeneous phase arrangenment is obtained by extending the duration of mechanochemical treatment.
