Sustainable tourism in National Park Đerdap, Serbia: attitudes of local population

AB  - In the context of the broader controversy about sustainable development, tourism literature highlights the importance of the support of the local population to tourism development. The active support of the community is essential for the local government, the future development policies and all entities that participate in the creation of sustainable tourism development. The specific dimension of this influence exists in protected areas, given the pronounced strong environmental component and a bond that is created among tourism - protected area - locals. The paper analyzes the attitudes and opinions of the local population residing in the National Park "Derdap" or its protection zone about the effects and control of tourism development, as well as the availability of information on sustainable tourism and the impact this activity has on the community. The method applied is survey research on a sample of 227 respondents. During the preparation of the survey, the methodological procedure for the analysis of sustainable tourism indicators ware used proposed by the World Tourism Organization.

Hiatus in global warming - the example of water temperature of the Danube river at Bogojevo gauge (Serbia)

AB  - The research included trends in water temperature of the Danube River at Bogojevo gauge and surface air temperature at the nearby meteorological station Sombor, as well as an analysis of the results obtained in relation to the claims of the existence of the hiatus in global air temperature increase in the period 1998-2012. In the period 1961-2013, there was a statistically significant increase in the mean annual water temperature (0.039 degrees C per year), as well as all the average monthly values. However, with annual values for the period 1998-2013, there was a decrease. The longest periods of negative trend (27 years) were recorded for January and February. A high correlation was found between the surface air temperature and water temperature for all monthly and seasonal values. In the mean annual air temperature the presence of the hiatus is not observed, but a negative trend is recorded in March (32 years), December (43 years), and February (49 years). The highest correlations between water temperature and North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), Arctic Oscillation (AO), and Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) were obtained for the NAO in January (0.60), the AMO in autumn (0.52), and the NAO in winter (0.51). For surface air temperature, the highest correlations were registered for the AMO in summer (0.49) and the NAO in winter (0.42). The results indicate the dominant role of natural factors in the decrease of winter air temperature and water temperature of the Danube.

AB  - Основни циљ истраживања у оквиру ове дисертације је постављање научнорелевантних, теоријско исправних и апликативно прихватљивих основавредновања физичкогеографских фактора водног биланса у функцији одрживогкоришћења водних ресурса у сливу Тимока.Задаци истраживања се, пре свега, односе на изналажење најрелевантнијихузрочно-последичних веза и односа фактора природне средине и водних ресурса,као и водних ресурса и њиховог одрживог коришћења.Познавање елемената речних режима и биланса представља неопходанпредуслов оптималног коришћења површинских вода.С обзиром на сложеност и обим предмета истраживања, у раду је постојалапотреба за применом одговарајућих метода погодних за постављање полазниххипотеза, доказивање ставова, проверавање и обликовање научних закључака докојих се у раду желело доћи.У раду се тежило својеврсном доприносу методологији и унапређењулогичко-сазнајног поступка при чему су објективност, прецизност и практичнапримењивост добијених резултата били у фокусу. Допринос је дат описивањем,систематизацијом, објашњењима и новим подацима, као и чињеницом да се воднибиланс и одрживо коришћење водних ресурса посматрају у просторном контекстуи у узрочно-последичном односу међузависности.Водни режим је анализиран на основу података измерених на 10хидролошких станица у сливу. Анализа средњемесечних и годишњих водостајарека у сливу је показала да је континуалност кретања водостаја током годинеусловљена заједничким дејством плувијалног и нивалног чиниоца.Тимок припада рекама са плувио-нивалним режимом умерено-континенталне варијанте. Режим протицаја Тимока је у директној зависности одрежима протицаја његових саставница, Белог и Црног Тимока. Амплитудапротицаја показује да је максимални средњемесечни протицај 12,1 пута већи одминималног средњемесечног протицаја, што указује на неуједначен режимпротицаја...
AB  - The main purpose of the body of research presented in this thesis is to establishscientifically relevant, theoretically correct and applicatively acceptable bases for theevaluation of physical geographic factors of the water balance with the aim of achievinga sustainable use of water resources in the Timok River Basin.The tasks of the study are primarily related to identifying the most relevant causalconnections and relations between environmental factors and water resources, as well asthose between water resources and their sustainable use.The knowledge of the elements of river regimes and balances is a necessaryprecondition for an optimal use of surface waters.Having in mind the complexity and the scope of the subject of research, it wasnecessary to apply appropriate methods in order to define the initial hypotheses, provethe postulates, test and shape scientific conclusions towards which this study has led us.This thesis seeks to contribute to the methodology and improve the logicalcognitive procedure, while laying focus on objectivity, accuracy and practicalapplicability of the results. The contribution consists in descriptions, systematization,explanations and new data, as well as the fact that the water balance and sustainable useof water resources are analyzed in a spatial context, taking into account the causalrelationship between interdependent variables.The water regime is analyzed on the basis of data measured at ten hydrologicalstations in the basin. The analysis of average monthly and annual water levels in theriver basin has shown that continuous water level fluctuations during the year are aresult of a joint effect of pluvial and nival factors.The Timok belongs to rivers with a moderately continental pluvio-nival regime.Its flow regime directly depends on the flow regimes of its constituent tributaries, theBeli Timok and the Crni Timok. The amplitude of the flow shows that the maximumaverage monthly flow is 12.1 times higher than the minimum average monthly flow,indicating an uneven flow regim...
