AB  - У раду се истражује концепт лепоте у српском језику, по средством
анализе иконичности лексема лепо и красно. Долази се до закључка да
је иконичност лексеме лепо одређена представом земаљске лепоте, која произилази из стваралачког човековог нагона, а односи се на уобличавање безобличне „лепљиве“ материје у „лепе“ предмете, док иконичност лексеме красно садржи представу појављивања небеског сјаја – божанске светлости и стваралачке ватре.

is lin ked with the ima gi na tion of soil, whi le the con cept of be a u ti ful is con ce -
i ved by le xe me ‘kra sno’ (I.E.*(s)qer-, “be a con fi re“) and is de fi ned by he a -
venly and di vi ne splen do ur. The dif fe ren ce in ico ni city of the two le xe mes, in
es sen ce, is the dif fe ren ce bet we en ter re strial and he a venly be a u ti es. The ter re -
strial beauty is defined by the creative innate impulse in humans to guide them
towards amorphous but “binding“ matter that can be sculptured into ‘beautiful’
things with a fun ction that is not ne ces sa rily uti li ta rian – but per haps it had a
sac ra men tal cha rac ter. On con trary, the he a venly be a uty exem pli fi es ma ni fe -
sta tion of he a venly splen do ur – be a con of di vi nity, be a con of cre a ti ve ness and
ef fer ve scen ce which pre sents the ter re strial world in its glo ri o us be a uty. The
picture of heavenly ‘fire’, quite independently form the benefit it may bring us,
espe ci ally fr om the be ne fit that may be ga i ned fr om the ter re strial fi re, as well
as the pure aesthetical satisfaction, have defined the original concept of beauty
as splen do ur in the Ser bian lan gu a ge.
