abstract = "The Serbian economy went through a difficult transition period, and as a result of the transition a new ownership structure of the company was obtained, a changed economic structure (development of the real sector of the economy neglected), as well as uneven investments compared to the previous allocation of economic capacities. This has contributed to greater regional inequality in the territory of the Republic, as well as increased regional polarization in Vojvodina. Economic activity has not been revitalized in all parts of Vojvodina equally, which has led to impoverishment of the population and demographic emptying of some parts. On the other hand, the concentration of economic activities in one of the territorial poles (in the South-Bačka area) widens the gap between the regions and creates preconditions for further strengthening of economic disparities in Vojvodina. The aim of the paper is to analyze, through the analysis of economic and social elements, what are the differences of regional development between statistical regions in Vojvodina, ie to determine what changes have occurred during the transition processes and to propose activities for overcoming regional inequality in Vojvodina. The results of the research represent the synthesis of information obtained by using secondary data sources, applying mathematical and statistical methods and comparing development factors between 2001 and 2018.",
