AB - The crystalline phase is the dominant phase in the ceramic body with a small amount of glassy phase. The preparation of ceramic glazes with characteristics similar to glass-ceramics can be performed by controlling the raw glaze composition and nucleating agent. The choice of appropriate nucleating agents that dominate bulk crystallization can be essential. Among multiple nucleating agents such as zirconia, titania, metallic molybdenum, and wolfram particles investigation of the influence of vanadium compound was not well studied on aluminum-silicate glass-ceramics. Metal such as vanadium forms oxides in an oxidation atmosphere at lower temperatures compared to metallic molybdenum and wolfram helping elucidate the effect of oxide on the crystallization behavior. Controlling the microstructure of glass-ceramic by processing parameters further control mechanical and optical properties. The addition of vanadium–pentoxide promotes the formation of entangled flower-like crystals on the porcelain ceramic body in combination with different commercial high-temperature glazes. Red and dark red colorations due to the presence of V5+ were obtained for aluminosilicate glass with a V2O5 content in the 5-10 mass % range. A pronounced spread of crystals beyond the glazed surface is observed on densely sintered stoneware and porcelain, which enables the formation of a decorative effect using simple application techniques.

AB - In this work, corrosion behavior of cooper in corrosion media consisted of aerated aqueous electrolyte of 3% NaCl with addition of different amount of cynarae extract as green corrosion inhibitor, is presented. Techniques used in this study involved open circuit measurements, evaluation of charge transfer resistance and corrosion current density during exposure to corrosion environment. Also, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements are presented. Potentiodymamic polarization curves were also used for the evaluation of the corrosion current density and corrosion potential of coper in corrosion media. Based on these results, it was concluded that the satisfactory results of corrosion inhibition exceeding 70 % were obtained with small amount of only 37*10-2 of mas. % of cynarae extract, based on open circuit behavior which involved decrease of the open circuit potentials of copper in the presence of cynarae extract it was concluded that this extract served as cathodic inhibitor.

AB - Intrinsically conducting polymers, especially polyaniline (PANI), are widely investigated in the field of energy storage and conversion due to the highly reversible electrochemistry of doping/dedoping. These reactions are responsible for PANI’s high capacitance, often reported as pseudocapacitance. In this work, PANI electrodes were obtained by electrochemical polymerization of aniline monomer, with different polymerization charges ranging between 0.125 and 1.0 mA cm-2, on a graphite electrode, at the constant current density of 2.0 mA cm-2. The electrolyte used in this study consisted of 1.0 mol dm-3 H2SO4 and 0.2 mol dm-3 aniline. Electrochemical characterization of the PANI electrode involved cyclic voltammetry, chronopotentiometric charge/discharge and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at constant potentials. Specific capacitance was determined from these techniques following the procedure for pseudocapacitive electrodes. After 250 cycles of charge/discharge with the current density of 10 mA cm-2, only 7 % of the capacitance was lost, indicating good stability of PANI that likely originates from its structure comprising a shared divalent sulfate ion between two monomer units.
AB - Elektroprovodni polimeri, prvenstveno polianilin (PANI), su intenzivno proučavani u oblasti konverzije i skladištenja električne energije, zahvaljujući visokoj reverzibilnosti reakcije dopovanja/dedopovanje.

AB - Polyaniline (PANI), due to its highly reversible electrochemistry with superior energy storage and delivery characteristics, is considered as an electrode material in batteries, capacitors, and hybrid systems. We used a facile electrochemical synthesis for the formation of the PANI electrode using galvanostatic polymerization of aniline on the graphite electrode at the current density of 2.0 mA cm−2 from the aqueous electrolyte containing 0.25 mol dm−3 aniline and 1.0 mol dm−3 H2SO4. Electrochemical and electrical characterization suggested excellent energy storage features of the PANI electrode in a three-electrode system with specific energy up to 53 Wh kg−1 and specific power up to 7600 W kg−1. After 2000 successive charge/discharge cycles at 9.5 Ag−1, the PANI electrode retained 95% of the initial capacity, with practically unaltered Coulombic efficiency of nearly 98%, providing a good base for future studies and practical applications.

AB - Monitoring the occurrence and rate of corrosion, the formation of thermal oxides on the surface of metal parts of the power plant, as well as the method of their elimination in a way that is technologically suitable, economically affordable and environmentally justified is shown in this technical solution. It has been established that the metal elements affected by corrosion were made from stainless steel AISI 304. Accordingly, the occurrence of corrosion and thermal oxides was monitored based on the material and the composition of the dust with which the metal parts are in contact. The emergence of thermal oxides on the surface of stainless steels is a consequence of the elevated temperature at the welding site.
The pH value of both solutions was measured: standard and saturated solution of dust from the plant. The composition of the dust samples was determined by FTIR. The other tests were defined based on the ions present in the solution.
The corrosion potential, the value of the polarization resistance, as well as the corrosion current density were determined. All tests of stainless steel in the standard solution and in the saturated solution of dust were performed for one hour within a span of 25 days.
Technological recommendations on how to eliminate corrosion and thermal oxides are provided.
The solution has been applied since January 2021 by ELNOS BL d.o.o.

AB - Electrochemical synthesis was used to polymerize aniline and copolymerize aniline and m-aminobenzoic from aqueous acidic electrolyte containing aniline and aniline with different amount of m-aminobenzoic acid. These materials were obtained galvanostatically at graphite electrode at current density of 1.0 mA cm-2 from aqueous electrolyte containing 1.0 mol dm-3 HCl and different amount of monomers. The effect of self-doping due to meta positioned carboxylic group was observed in both synthesis parameters, morphology, degree of oxidation and electrochemical behaviour. The presence of m-aminobenzoic acid led higher copolymerization increasing with the increase of amount of m-aminobenzoic acid if comparing to polymerization potential of aniline. Moreover, the copolymer with equal amount of aniline/m-aminobenzoic acid showed electrochemical activity in neutral electrolyte which might be due to possibility of proton exchange process which can be expelled from the copolymer during oxidation process together by insertion of anions, making this material promising for use in electrochemical biosensors.

abstract = "Poly(o-toluidine) (POT) is electrochemically synthesized on graphite electrode at
constant current density of 1.5 mA cm-2 from aqueous electrolyte of 1.0 mol dm-3 H2SO4 and
0.25 mol dm-3 o-toluidine. Electrochemical characterization of POT electrode is performed
using cyclic voltammetry, Mot Schottky analysis and galvanostatic measurements at different
currents. POT electrode exhibited high energy storage features, with specific energy up to
17.5 Wh kg-1 and specific power up to 3300 W kg-1. Cyclic stability exceeding 90% is
 obtained over 2000 charge/discharge cycles at 13.1 A g-1 indicating the perspective
application of POT electrode as energy storage material.",

AB - Poly(aniline-co-(m-aminobenzoic acid)) was synthesized electrochemically at graphite electrode under galvanostatic conditions. Aqueous electrolyte for synthesis was consisted of HCl and different amount of aniline and m-aminobenzoic acid. The presence of the meta positioned carboxylic group in m-aminobenzoic acid influenced higher co-polymerization potential, different morphology and electrochemical behavior of copolymers compared to polyaniline. Electrochemical activity is achieved by proton exchange in neutral environment that can result in a faster charge/discharge process, which is in the case of PANI limited by slow anion exchange, making this material promising for consideration in super-capacitors and in biological system.

AB - Low intrinsic electronic conductivity is the main disadvantage of LiFePO4 when used as a cathode material in lithium ion batteries. The paper offers experimental proofs of the theoretical prediction that fluorine doping of LiFePO4 can enhance its electrical conductivity. The LiFePO4 and fluorine-doped LiFePO4 olivine type, carbon-free powders are synthesized and examined. The crystal structure refinements in the Pnma space group reveal that doping with fluorine ions preserves the olivine structure, while reducing both the lattice parameters and the antisite defect, and increasing the crystallite size. A small amount of incorporated fluorine enhances the electrical conductivity from 4.6×10−7 S cm−1 to 2.3×10−6 S cm−1 and has a positive impact on the electrochemical performance. Several spectroscopy techniques (Mössbauer, FTIR, and Raman) reveal differences between the two powders and additionally support the findings of both the Rietveld refinement and the conductivity measurements.

AB - The key parameters related to cathode materials for commercial use are a high specific capacity, good cycling stability, capacity retention at high current rates, as well as the simplicity of the synthesis process. This study presents a facile synthesis of a composite cathode material, Li2FeSiO4 with carbon, under extreme conditions: rapid heating, short dwell at 750 °C and subsequent quenching. The water-soluble polymer methylcellulose was used both as an excellent dispersing agent and a carbon source that pyrolytically degrades to carbon, thereby enabling the homogeneous deployment of the precursor compounds and the control of the Li2FeSiO4 particle growth from the earliest stage of processing. X-ray powder diffraction reveals the formation of Li2FeSiO4 nanocrystallites with a monoclinic structure in the P21/n space group (#14). The composite’s electrochemical performance as a cathode material in Li-ion batteries was examined. The influence of the amount of methylcellulose on the microstructural, morphological, conductive, and electrochemical properties of the obtained powders has been discussed. It has been shown that the overall electrochemical performance is improved with an increase of carbon content, through both the decrease of the mean particle diameter and the increase of electrical conductivity.

AB - The immobilization of α-amylase via adsorption on magnetic particles coated with polyaniline was studied. The support was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The obtained magnetic particles were agglomerates of nanoparticles with sizes below 100 nm. The effects of various factors on immobilization, including time, the initial enzyme concentration, pH, and temperature, were examined. The optimum pH, temperature, and time for immobilization were established to be 7, 45°C and 75 min, respectively. The maximum amount of adsorbed α-amylase of 10/100 mg support was determined at the 5 mg/mL enzyme concentration. It appeared that α-amylase was stabilized in terms of pH and temperature by adsorption on magnetic particles coated with polyaniline. The good agreement of the equilibrium data with the Langmuir isotherm model confirmed the monolayer coverage of enzyme molecules on the surface of magnetic particles, and the maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 55.6/100 mg support at 25°C. The biocatalyst retained 55.5 ± 1.63% of its initial activity after nine cycles of reuse in starch hydrolysis at 60°C in a batch reactor. The immobilized enzyme also showed very good storage stability.

AB - Low intrinsic electronic conductivity is the main weakness of LiFePO4 for the use as cathode material in lithium ion batteries. Here is presented an experimental proof of the theoretical prediction that fluorine doping of LiFePO4 can enhance its electrical conductivity. LiFePO4 and fluorine-doped LiFePO4 olivine type, carbon-free powders are synthesized and examined. Crystal structure refinements in the space group Pnma reveal that doping with fluorine ions preserves olivine structure with the reduction of both the lattice parameters and the antisite defect, and an increase of a crystallite size. A small amount of incorporated fluorine enhances electrical conductivity from 4.6 × 10-7 Scm-1 to 2.3 × 10-6 Scm-1 and has positive impact on the electrochemical performances. Several spectroscopy techniques (Mössbauer, FTIR, and Raman) disclose differences between two powders and additionally support the findings of both the Rietveld refinement and the conductivity measurements.

AB - Olivine-type LiFePO4 composite powders with carbon were synthesized by freeze drying and subsequent thermal annealing. The main purpose of the research is to explore how various dicarboxylic acids as carbon sources influence the electrochemical properties of the resulting composites. Three dicarboxylic acids (oxalic, malonic, and adipic) were used as a carbon source. The synthesis was followed by X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, particle-size analysis, and electrochemical experiments. It is shown that the amount of the in situ formed carbon depends on the thermal behaviour of the acids in inert atmosphere rather than on their carbon content. Cyclic voltammetry experiments and galvanostatic cycling illustrate the behaviour of different powders: the powder obtained with oxalic acid yields the highest discharge capacity at small currents, while the one obtained with adipic acid shows better high-current response. Malonic acid has turned out to be a poor carbon source and it consequently yields powder with poor electrochemical performance.

AB - Electrochemical formation of polyaniline (PANI) modified electrode was performed galvanostatically from aqueous solution of 1.0 mol dm-3 HCl containing 0.2 mol dm-3 aniline at current densities ranging from 0.5-3.0 mA cm-2. The morphology of PANI electrode consisted of highly developed nanofibrous network with electrocatalytic features towards oxidation of ascorbic acid, reflected in increase of the peak current ~ 2.5 times and shift of the oxidation potential by 0.32 V to less positive values. Response of PANI modified electrode was obtained from anodic LSV curves. Current peak potentials decreased with increase of pH with slope of ~ 32 mV pH-1, indicating two electron charge transfer process with liberation of one proton characteristic of an electrochemical reaction followed by a chemical step. © 2015 The Authors.

AB - The room temperature Na-ion secondary battery has been under focus lately due to its feasibility to compete against the already well-established Li-ion secondary battery. Transition metal oxides of general formula NaxMO2 have been investigated as potential cathode materials for sodium batteries. Layered NaxCoO2 is synthesized via solid-state method at 900 ºC in air atmosphere. Fluorine doping of the as-prepared powder is established by the use of ammonium hydrogen difluoride (NH4HF2) as a fluorinating agent. The fluorination takes place only at low temperature (200 ºC), while the treatment at higher temperatures (≥ 400 ºC) facilitates the formation of NaF. It is shown that various and controllable amounts of fluorine can be successfully incorporated into the structure. Finally, the effects of fluorine doping on both structural and electrochemical properties are examined.

AB - Lithium iron phosphate is a promising cathode material for lithium ion battery application thanks to its good characteristics. Here is presented the freeze drying method for the preparation of carbon coated LiFePO4, where PVP is used as a carbon source. The main advantage of this method is mixing at the atomic level and introducing the carbon source into the precursor solution. The synthesis process can be divided into three stages: freezing of a precursor solution, drying under vacuum until water evaporates and calicination of as-dried powder at slightly reductive atmosphere. Powder X-ray diffraction measurement demonstrated single phase LiFePO4 with crystallite size of 45.8 nm. Morphology and particle size was revealed with scanning electron microscopy and particle size analyzer. Galvanostatic cycling from 2.3 to 4.1 V vs. Li/Li+, shows typical LiFePO4 redox behavior with plateau at 3.4 V. The discharge capacity value obtained at C/10 rate was 154 mAh- 1, with decrease on greater C-rates.

The discharge capacity value obtained at C/10 rate was 154 mAh- 1, with decrease on greater C-rates.",

AB - A composite powder Li2FeSiO4/C is synthesized through a solid state reaction at 750 °C. The Rietveld crystal structure refinement is done in the monoclinic P21/n space group. It is found that the crystal structure is prone to “antisite” defect where small part of iron ion occupies exclusively Li(2) crystallographic position, of two different lithium tetrahedral positions (Li(1) and Li(2)). This finding is also confirmed by Mössbauer spectroscopy study: the sextet evidenced in the Mössbauer spectrum is assigned to the iron ions positioned at the Li(2) sites. A bond-valence energy landscape calculation is used to predict the conduction pathways of lithium ions. The calculations suggest that Li conductivity is two-dimensional in the (101) plane. Upon galvanostatic cyclings the structure starts to rearrange to inverse βII polymorph.

AB - Monoclinic Li2FeSiO4 that crystallizes in P21/n space group was investigated as a potential cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. A combined X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy study was used for the structural investigation. It was found that the crystal structure is prone to an “antisite” defect, the one in which the Fe ion and the Li ion exchange places. This finding was also confirmed by the Mössbauer spectroscopy. In order to obtain composites of Li2FeSiO4 and carbon, several synthesis techniques that use different carbon sources were involved. Electrochemical performances were investigated through galvanostatic charge/discharge tests. Discharge curve profile did not reflect a two-phase intercalation reaction (no obvious voltage plateau) due to the low conductivity at room temperature.

AB - One of the most perspective cathode materials for the application in the Li-ion batteries is LiFePO4. It has high theoretical specific capacity, good cycle life and technically suitable flat voltage of 3.45 V versus Li. However, its main disadvantages are low electronic and ionic conductivities which can be overcome by particle size minimization and/or carbon coating. Here is presented the freeze-drying method for the preparation of carbon coated LiFePO4 particles. It involves freezing of a precursor solution, vacuum drying and final calcination of as-dried powder under slightly reductive atmosphere. The main advantage of this preparation process is mixing at the atomic level which provides more homogeneous precursor. Water solutions containing Li+,PO4 3- and Fe2+ ions with the addition of various organic compounds as a carbon source were used as the precursor solutions. The as-prepared powders were fully characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, particle size analyzer and galvanostatic cycling.

Synthesis of LiFePO4/C cathode material was performed by freeze-drying method using different organic acids as carbon source. Freeze-drying process consists of freezing of a precursor solution, elimination of solvent by sublimation (vacuum drying) and final calcinations of as-dried powder under slightly reductive atmosphere. The main advantage of this synthesis method is possibility of introducing a carbon source and mixing of reactants at atomic level which provides homogeneity of precursor solution. AB - Cordierite, 2MgO⋅2Al2O3⋅5SiO2, is a very attractive high-temperature ceramic material, due to its outstanding electrical characteristics, such as the low temperature expansion coefficient, low dielectric constant and good mechanical properties. In order to accelerate the process of sintering, 5.00 mass% MoO3 has been added to the starting mixtures. The mechanical activation of the starting mixtures was performed in a high energy ball mill during 0-80 minutes. The particle size analysis (PSA) was employed in order to determine the changes in the particle size of the mechanically treated powders. The phase composition of the starting powders and sintered samples was analyzed by the X-ray diffraction method. Furthermore, differential thermal analysis (DTA) was used in order to determine characteristic temperatures within the system during heating. Based on the obtained DTA results, it was established that mechanical activation has some influence on temperatures of phase transitions. Sintering process was performed in air at 1200oC for 2h.
