Structural features of near equiatomic FeCo-2V semi-hard magnetic alloy prepared by MIM technology

AB  - The structural properties of a magnetically semi-hard near equiatomic FeCo-2wt%V (FeCoV) alloy produced by Powder Injection Moulding (PIM) (option by fine metal powder - Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) technology) were investigated in this paper. Starting granulate was prepared by mixing FeCoV powder with a low-viscosity binder. After injection, the green samples were first treated with a solvent and then thermally with the same aim of removing the binder. MIM technology was completed by high-temperature sintering for 3.5 hours at temperatures from 1370 OC to 1460 OC in a hydrogen atmosphere, which provides the necessary magnetic and mechanical characteristics. The influence of sintering temperature was investigated concerning the aspects of the processes of structural transformation by the methods of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The appearance of an intense diffraction peak of the α'-FeCo phase (crystal structure type B2) was registered for all investigated samples. Structural parameters particle size Dmax, Feret X, and Feret Y exhibit constant increase with increase of sintering temperature.

The obtained thermistor powder was milled in the planetary ball mill and agate mill for a prolonged time to achieve submicron powder. The prepared thermistor powder was further characterized by using XRD and SEM techniques. After that, the thermistor powder was pressed into small disc-shaped samples and sintered at 1150 °C/2h. The sintered samples were also characterized by using XRD and SEM. The main electrical properties such as nominal resistance R and thermistor exponential factor B were measured in the climatic test chamber. After that, the thick film paste was prepared using the same powder, an organic vehicle and a glass frit. The paste was printed on alumina substrate, dried at 150 °C /30 min and sintered in air at 850 °C /10 min in a hybrid conveyor furnace. Planar electrodes were printed on the sintered NTC thermistor layer using PdAg thick film paste. The electric properties of the sintered thick film thermistor were also measured in the climatic test chamber. The obtained results were used for development of novel self-heating thermistor applications.

AB  - FeCoV alloys with high saturation magnetization and high Curie temperature, making them useful for high-temperature and power-dense applications (e. g. aviation device). In this study, we report the results of observing the structural properties of 49Fe49Co2V alloy produced by PIM / MIM technology. The starting granulate was prepared by mixing FeCoV powder with a low-viscosity binder. After injection, the raw “green” samples were first treated with a solvent and then thermally with the same aim of removing the binder. MIM technology is completed by high-temperature sintering of “brown” samples for 3.5 hours at temperatures from 1370 OC to 1460 OC in a hydrogen atmosphere, which provides the necessary magnetic and mechanical characteristics. Depending on the sintering temperature, structural parameters of particle size Dmax, Feret X, Feret Y were investigated and analysed.

Frequency behaviour of Co-based amorphous wire MI-element

AB  - This study presents magnetoimpedance (MI) effect of Co-based amorphous wire investigated at driving frequency range f  [50 Hz – 5 MHz]. The XRD pattern and EDX analysis confirmed amorphous structure and the main element content of CoFeSiB alloy. The critical frequency of about 7 kHz was observed as the point with the initial increase of magnetoimpedance. A maximum MI-ratio [Z(0) - Z(Hmax)] / Z(Hmax) of 334 % is attained at driving frequency of 900 kHz@ Hmax  4.63 kA/m.

AB  - U radu su ispitivani strukturna svojstva legure 49Fe49Co2V proizvedene PIM/MIM tehnologijom, tako što je polazni granulat pripremljen mešanjem FeCoV praha sa niskoviskoznim vezivom. Nakon brizganja sirovi uzorci su najpre tretirani rastvaračem a zatim i termički s istim ciljem odstranjivanja
veziva. MIM tehnologija je završena visokotemperaturskim sinterovanjem tokom 3,5 sata na temperaturama od 1370 °C do 1460 °C u atmosferi vodonika, kojim se obezbedjuju potrebne magnetne i mehaničke karakteristike. Strukturna svojstva veličine čestica Dmax, Feret X, Feret Y su ispitivana u zavisnosti od temperature sinterovanja.

abstract = "U radu su ispitivani strukturna svojstva legure 49Fe49Co2V proizvedene PIM/MIM tehnologijom, tako što je polazni granulat pripremljen mešanjem FeCoV praha sa niskoviskoznim vezivom. Nakon brizganja sirovi uzorci su najpre tretirani rastvaračem a zatim i termički s istim ciljem odstranjivanja
veziva. AB  - MnZn ferrites are one of the most common soft magnetic materials for application in microelectronics as a material for microwave components (transformers, transducers, inductors, magnetic fluids, sensors,). MnZn ferrites attracted attention due to wide range of relative magnetic permeability values (from 103 to 104), high resistivity (consequently low magnetic losses) as well as high thermal stability (high saturation magnetic flux density at high temperatures (Bs > 0.4 T at 100 OC) and a relatively high Curie temperature of about 230 OC).Recently, a variety of technologies have been examined for MnZn ferrite production: powder/ceramic injection moulding (PIM/CIM), chemical co-precipitation method, conventional ceramic processing, sol-gel or microemulsion. In this study a toroidal samples of MnZn ferrites with dimensions appropriate for applications in electronic industry (i.e. microelectronics: inner diameter 3.5 mm, outer diameter 7 mm, height 2 mm) were investigated. Magnetic properties were measured by hysteresis graph (B-H curve at level of magnetic excitation up to 1 kA/m and at different frequencies from 5 Hz to 10 kHz). Relative magnetic permeability as well as magnetic power (active) losses was analyzed as frequency dependent. Very stable maximum magnetic permeability was observed for magnetic field of 200 A/m in the frequency range from 50 Hz (μr ≈ 480) to 10 kHz (μr ≈ 450). Active power referred to unit mass of about 30 W/kg was recorded at frequency of 1 kHz (@ 280 mT). As the hysteresis losses are proportionally to the frequency (~ f) and eddy-current losses are proportionally to the square of frequency (~ f2) it was performed separation between these two components from total magnetic power (active) losses. Numerical fitting of this functionality on frequency were performed and analysed. The results obtained were compared with the catalogue data for other MnZn ferrite components for applications in electronics.

Three-Axis’ Heat Loss Anemometer Comprising Thick-Film Segmented Thermistors

AB  - NTC thick-film segmented thermistors were used as anemometer sensing devices. They were screen printed of thick-film thermistor paste based on modified NiMn2O4 fine powder, organic vehicle, and glass frit. Their electrical properties, such as resistance vs. temperature R(T) and thermistor exponential factor B were obtained using measurements in the climatic test chamber. A uniaxial anemometer was formed using a thick-film segmented thermistor, which was placed in the hole drilled in rectangular piece of thermally insulating material. The uniaxial anemometer was used for the optimization of operating point of segmented thermistors as self-heating/wind sensing devices. The dc supply voltage was correlated with the air temperature sub-ranges (RCV). The power save mode such as 30s self-heating/5 min pause was used to measure the thermistor response on stable wind blow. The three-axis' anemometer was formed using five sensor devices placed in five holes drilled in the cubical piece of thermally insulating material: three thermistor sensors measure wind speed on the x, y, z - axes, the fourth sensor Pt 1000 measures the air temperature T, while the fifth sensor (capacitive type) measures humidity H. The obtained sensitivity and inaccuracy were compared with respective ones of other anemometers.

AB  - Multiferroic materials attracted a lot of attention in recent years because of their significant scientific interest and technological applications. The multiferroic core/shell powders have a better connectivity between the phases, resulting in superior dielectric and magneto electric properties. In this study, the influence of preparation condition on structure and properties of BaTiO3/α-Fe2O3 core/shell composite materials was examined. The five samples were obtained by varying synthesis conditions, such as synthesized method (co-precipitation and sonochemical method) and pH values of solution. XRD and Raman spectroscopy analyses were performed in order to determine phase composition and structural changes within samples. Morphology modifications were examined by SEM and EDS analyses. Finally, effect of structural and microstructural changes on magnetic and electrical properties was detected and explained.

AB  - A new sensor for measuring ground top layer temperature profile was formed as a row of 40 thermistor segments connected in series, with which the change of temperature in the soil is mesaured and placed on 550 mm depth. The temperature sensor is multiple protected of humidity, calibrated on room temperature and placed vertically in the hole drilled on the lawn. The main electrical properties of the new sensor based on NTC thick film segmented thermistors are given in brief. The ground top layer temperature profile measurements were done in 40 points at 7am and 2 pm each day from the beginning of November 2017 to the end of February 2018.At the same time and in the same period of time the air temperature were measured and recorded. The results of measurements of ground top layer temperatureT(t,z) were given in daily and monthly diagrams as a function of time t and ground deepness d on z-axis. The correlation between ground top layer temperature profile and air temperature was analyzed: changes of ground temperature gradient and effect of precipitations on ground temperature profile. The results obtained enable study of temperature regime of ground top layer.

Temperaturni senzor je višestruko zaštićen od vlage, kalibrisan na sobnoj temperaturi i postavljen u vertikalno izbušenu rupu na travnjaku. Osnovne električne karakteristike novog senzora na bazi NTC debeloslojnih segmentiranih termistora date su ukratko. Analizirana je korelacija između temperature gornjeg sloja zemlje i vazduha: promena gradijenta temperature tla i uticaj padavina na temperaturni profil. Dobijeni rezultati omogućavaju dalje proučavanje temperaturnog režima gornjeg sloja zemlje.

AB  - In this study the characterization of FeCo-2V alloys toroidal samples produced by PIM/MIM technology was presented. The feedstock for metal injection molding (MIM) was prepared by mixing starting FeCoV powder with a low viscosity binder. Green samples were subjected to solvent debinding and subsequent thermal debinding followed by sintering. Sintering was performed during 3.5 hours from 1370°C to 1460°C in hydrogen atmosphere in order to attain the appropriate mechanical and magnetic properties. Microstructure, hardness HV10 and magnetic hysteresis B(H) were investigated as a function of sintering temperature. Optimum combination of functional properties was observed after sintering at temperature of 1370°C. In addition, magnetic properties were analyzed as frequency dependent and successfully simulated in operating frequency range from 5 Hz to 60 Hz.

The thermal and magnetic properties of the Fe89.8Ni1.5Si5.2B3C0.5 and Fe81B13Si14C2 amorphous alloys

AB  - This paper investigates the thermal and magnetic properties of two iron based amorphous alloys with different Fe-content: Fe89.8Ni1.5Si5.2B3C0.5 and Fe81B13Si14C2. The XRD results show that the thermal induced structural changes occur in the temperature range of 3000C - 8500C for the Fe89.8Ni1.5Si5.2B3C0.5 amorphous alloy. The appearance of the first crystallization peaks on DSC thermograms of Fe81B13Si4C2, amorphous alloy is perceived already at 4500C. The initial magnetization curves of the as-cast sample of the Fe89.8Ni1.5Si5.2B3C0.5 amorphous alloy, obtained at the frequencies of 50 Hz, 400 Hz and 1000 Hz show the excellent match. The maximum relative magnetic permeability for Fe89.8Ni1.5Si5.2B3C0.5 alloy sample is achieved at magnetic field strength of about 20 A/m for all frequencies, whereas the values of about 7000 were obtained at the frequencies of 50 Hz and 400 Hz. The influence of frequency on total power losses, for both alloys exhibits the increase of core losses with frequency increase. The amorphous alloy Fe89.8Ni1.5Si5.2B3C0.5 toroidal core exhibits about 3 time higher total power losses. [Projekat Ministarstva nauke Republike Srbije, br. 172057]

AB  - Powder mixture of 60 mass % of iron (Fe) and 40 mass % of barium titanate (BaTiO3) has been activated in planetary mill for 100, 120, 150, 180, 210 and 240 min in the air. During the activation the iron powder transits into iron oxides FeO, Fe2O3 and Fe3O4. Depending on the activation time the percentage of iron oxides varies. Simultaneously, with the content change of the activated system, magnetic properties change as well. The thermomagnetic measurements in the temperature interval from 200C up to 6200C have shown that the powder activated for 120 minutes exhibits maximum magnetization prior to annealing. After multiple annealings of the same sample it has been shown that the maximum magnetization of the cooled sample is obtained upon annealing at 5600C during 10 min for all activation times of as-cast powder sample. The sample obtained from pressed powder mixture activated for 120 min has the maximum magnetization, upon isothermal sintering of samples at 12000C during 2h, being M = 2,9 Am2/kg. With additional annealing of the same sample up to Curie temperature (TC = 4300C) and subsequent cooling of the sample in the magnetic field of H = 20 kA/m, the sample is permanently magnetized. The magnetization of sample cooled in the magnetic field with intensity of 20 kA/m being M = 10,15 Am2/kg.

AB  - Powder mixture of 50 mass % of barium titanate (BaTiO3) and 50 mass % of iron (Fe) was prepared by solid-state reaction technique, i.e. ball milled in air for 60 min, 80 min, 100 min, 120 min and 150 min. During mechanochemical activation it was observed the iron powder transitsion to iron oxides. Depending on the activation time the content of iron oxides FeO, Fe2 O3 and Fe3O4 varies. Simultaneously, with the content change of the activated system, magnetic properties change as well. The XRD analysis of milled samples shown that as the activation time increase, the iron oxide percentage increases to, whereby the percentage of BaTiO3 in a total sample mass decreases. The percentage of iron oxides and BaTiO3 in annealed samples changes depending on annealing temperature. The thermomagnetic measurements performed by Faraday method shown that the powder mixture milled for 100 minutes exhibit maximum magnetization prior to annealing. The increase of magnetization maximum was observed after annealing at 540 oC with all milled samples, and at room temperature it has enhancement from 10 % to 22 % depending on the activation time. The samples milled for 100 min and 150 min and then sintered at 1200 oC exhibit magnetoelectric properties. © 2015 International Institute for the Science of Sintering (IISS). All rights reserved.

The increase of magnetization maximum was observed after annealing at 540 oC with all milled samples, and at room temperature it has enhancement from 10 % to 22 % depending on the activation time. AB  - Uzorci amorfne masivne metalne legure sastava Fe65.5Cr4Mo4Ga4P12C5B5.5 dobijeni su tehnologijom livenja rastopa u bakarne kalupe prečnika 1,5 mm i 1,8 mm. DTA analizom je utvrdjena temperatura kristalizacije TX = 810 K. S ciljem ispitivanja procesa termičkog širenja (dilatacije) sprovedeni su višestruki termički tretmani do oko 200 K iznad temperature kristalizacije. Uticaj procesa kristalizacije na termičko širenje je izučavan preko temperaturske zavisnosti koeficijenta termičkog širenja koji pokazuje evidentne promene tokom kristalizacije za razliku od skoro konstantne vrednosti kod legure u iskristalisanom stanju. Stereološkom i XRD analizom su praćene promene strukture iz amorfne u mikrokristalnu. S obzirom na sastav legure kojim se težilo poboljšanju mehaničkih svojstava sprovedena su kontrolna merenja tvrdoće koja su pokazala povećanje HV1 sa vrednosti od oko 713 u amorfnom stanju do preko 876 u mikrokristalnom stanju

AB  - Iron based alloys are the family of bulk metallic glasses (BMG) with a very high melting temperature (Tm) and highest critical cooling rates (Rc~103K/s) necessary to suppress nucleation of crystals during the casting process. Consequently, this class of BMG is the most difficult for preparation in a thick form. The rods of Fe-based bulk metallic glasses with the nominal composition Fe65.5Cr4Mo4Ga4P12C5B5.5 were cast by melt injection into a 1.5 and 1.8 mm diameter copper molds. DTA thermogram shows wide supercooled liquid region between crystallization temperature (Tx) and glass transition temperature (Tg) in the as-cast state Δ Tx = Tx - Tg = 57 K. The thermal stability and crystallization processes were investigated by non-isothermal differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Thermal stability was discussed in terms of the width of supercooled liquid region ΔTx. Calculation of kinetic parameters of crystallization process was preformed by nonisothermal measurements results using Kissinger method.

AB  - In this study it was investigated influence of temperature and frequency on permeability, coercivity and power loses of Fe81B13Si4C2 amorphous alloy. Magnetic permeability measurements performed in nonisothermal and isothermal conditions was confirmed that efficient structural relaxation was occurred at temperature of 663 K. This process was performed in two steps, the first one is kinetic and the second one is diffuse. Activation energies of these processes are: Ea1 = 52.02 kJ/mol for kinetic and Ea2 = 106.9 kJ/mol for diffuse. It was shown that after annealing at 663 K coercivity decrease about 30% and therefore substantial reduction in power loses was attained. Investigated amorphous alloy satisfied the criteria for signal processing devices that work in mean frequency domain.

AB  - In this article the influence of mechanical activation on sintering process of magnesium-titanate and barium-zinc-titanate ceramics has been investigated. It has been established that temperature of 1100ºC was to low to induce final sintering stage for both systems. Moreover, we concluded that barium-zinc-titanate ceramics exhibited better sinterability than magnesium-titanate ceramics.

AB  - Development of materials with desirable properties essentially depends on realization of interdependence: natural science ⇔ technical sciences. Taking this into account, in order to develop of new advanced materials it is essential to determine principles that characterize this interdependency. Therefore, in this article the principles of fundamental research and the importance of obtained results are considered and implemented in the field of technical realizations.
AB  - Dobijanje materijala zadatih svojstava uslovljen je suštinski ostvarivanjem međuzavisnosti: PRIRODNE NAUKE ⇔ TEHNIČKE NAUKE. S obzirom na to, kada se radi o dobijanju novih materijala, neophodno je utvrditi zakonitosti koje karakterišu ovu međuzavisnost. Saglasno ovome u ovoj publikaciji razmatrani su principi fundamentalnih istraživanja i značaj dobijenih rezultata za primenu u oblasti tehničkih realizacija.

AB  - Starting mixtures of ZnO, TiO2 and MgO (0, 1.25 and 2.5 wt.% MgO) powders were mechanically activated for 15 min in a planetary ball mill. The powders obtained were sintered non-isothermally to temperatures between 800 and 1100 °C and then held at those temperatures for 120 min. Analysis of the influence of MgO addition on the synthesis of zinc-titanate ceramics showed that its addition increased slightly the temperature at which the reaction process started, accelerated the reaction and resulted in higher sample densities. These results were correlated with the results of structural characterization using X-ray powder diffraction method and SEM analysis. Also, the results of electric resistivity, capacitance and loss tangent of the sintered samples were obtained. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

AB  - The aim of this work was an investigation of structural and electrical properties of sintered zinc-titanate ceramics obtained by mechanical activation. Mixtures of ZnO and TiO2 were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill up to 90 min and sintered isothermally in air for 120 min at 1100 °C. The phase composition in the ZnO-TiO2 system after milling and sintering was analyzed using the XRD method. Microstructure analyses were performed using SEM. The results of electric resistivity, capacitance and loss tangent of the sintered samples were obtained. The existence of zinc-titanate as a dielectric was proved (εr = 12.5, Q = 386.1, tgδ = 0.0026, ρ = 1.02 Ωm). © 2007 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.
