AB - The paper investigates the principles governing the distribution of complementizers in contemporary Serbian. Evidence is presented that the distribution of da, što, kako, gde, da li, and numerous interrogative pronouns and adverbials which may function as complementizers is determined not only by matrix-verb subcategorization properties and semantic co-occurrence restrictions which hold between the predicate and its complement, but by the lexical an syntactic properties of the particular verb class (or subclass) to which matrix predicate belongs as well. According to their ability to govern a particular complementizer, ten major verb subclasses are identified in contemporary Serbian, and their specific properties are signaled.
AB - U ovom radu se razmatraju komplementizatori koji se javljaju u savremenom Srpskom jeziku i analiziraju se leksičko-sintaksički i semantički činioci njihove distribucije. Na osnovu vrste komplementizatora koji se uz njih javlja, izdvaja se i detaljnije analizira deset različitih glagolskih potklasa sentencijalnotranzitivnih glagola.

Лексичка детранзитивизација и анализа правих повратних глагола у српском језику

AB - In the line with analyses of reflexive constructions proposed in Grimshaw (1982) and Sells, Zaenen & Zee (1987), and contrary to solutions adopted in traditional and GB grammar, this paper offers evidence that even in 'true' reflexive construction a particle se is never an object pronominal clitic and that two fundamentally different reflexivization processes (strategies) should be distinguished in contemporary Serbian - a process (strategy) of syntactic reflexivization, and a process (strategy) of lexical reflexivization. Presence of the reflexive pronoun sebe, which can be freely replaced (in non-reflexive contexts) with any other NP functioning as a direct object (including both non-clitic and clitic object pronouns) is a marker of the former; the latter is characterized by obligatory occurrence of the verb in a se-form. This se is not an accusative clitic reflexive pronoun and is never an object; it is rather just a lexical marker, signaling that the verb it combines with is intransitive.
AB - Cilj ovog rada je da analizirajući jezičke podatke iz savremenog srpskog jezika ispita adekvatnost dosad ponuđenih opšteteorijskih objašnjenja procesa refleksivizacije, kao i da predoči neke dosad nerazmatrane činjenice relevantne za karakterizaciju prirode ovog procesa u našem jeziku.

О подизању негације у Српском језику

AB - A syntactic phenomenon which manifests itself in 'the strong tendency in many languages to attract to the main verb a negative which should logically belong to the dependent nexus' (Jespersen 1917: 53), and which has been extensively studied since mid-sixties (though under different names - negative attraction, not-hopping, negative transportation, and Neg-Raising) has been registered in widely divergent families of languages. This paper presents syntactical-semantic evidence for the existence of Neg-Raising in contemporary Serbian, describes its influence on other syntactic processes and identifies the classes of predicates that govern it. As in other languages, lexical items triggering Neg-Raising in Serbian are subsumable into a number of semantic classes, although whether a predicate within one of these classes will trigger Neg-Raising is not predictable. This gives further support to the hypothesis that Neg-Raising is primarily a lexico-syntactic phenomenon, and that it is not reducible to semantic criteria.
AB - Karakterizacija pojave označene u teorijskoj lingvistici terminom podizanje negacije, testovi za njenu identifikaciju i klasa glagola u savremenom srpskom jeziku uz koje je moguća - osnovni su predmet razmatranja u ovom radu.
