Заоставштина Лазара Лере у Музиколошком институту САНУ – Грађа за историју српског црквеног појања, музичке културе и просвете

Abstract

У раду је делатност Лазара Лере, појца, мелографа и учитеља појања, представљена на основу прегледа заоставштине, сачуване у Музиколошком институту САНУ. Заоставштина садржи лична документа, нотне записе, документа о првим звучним снимцима српског појања, аналитичке белешке о појању и делове преписке. Сачувана грађа сведочи о етапама историјског развоја српског појања и о изузетној Лериној улози у очувању и неговању ове традиције, као и о његовом доприносу на пољу опште музичке културе, посебно у периоду између два светска рата.

This paper focuses on the activities of Lazar Lera (1885–1966), a chanter, melographer and teacher. The research is based on the archiv material from the rich legacy kept in the Institute of Musicology SASA (Belgrade). The legacy contains personal documents, correspondence, numerous Lera’s notational melographic records of Serbian church chant, documents about the first sound records of Serbian church chant sung by Lera, etc. These significant sources testify to the stages of historical development of Serbian chant and Lera’s remarkable role in saving and nourishing this tradition, as well as to Lera’s wider contribution in the field of music education, particularly between the two World Wars. Based on the detailed review of the legacy’s content, the paper brings special light to: 1) Lera’s work as a transcriber/melographer, 2) his analytical approach to the field of church chant, 3) pedagogical activities, 4) work on the Nursery of Serbian Church Chant and 5) the circle of his collaborators and pupils. Numerous activities of his contemporaries are presented, as well as the issues about wider cultural and social circumstances, the situation of the Serbian church chant practice during the pre-war, interwar and afterwar periods, musical literacy, the position of musical lessons in the state schools, the activities of singing societies and the general music culture and education in The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes / The Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
