Друштво српске словесности и развој дисциплина српске науке о књижевности

Abstract

На основу архивске грађе о раду Друштва српске словесности и прилога објављених на страницама Гласника Друштва српске словесности,реконструишу се обим и начини присуства дисциплина науке о књижевности у делатностима овог ученог друштва. Утврђује се однос према проучавању књижевности у контексту основних премиса делатности претече Српске академије наука и уметности.

The author explores the status of disciplines in literary science among the activities of Society of Serbian Letters, bearing in mind the inseparability of literary science from language science, history science or pedagogy. This kind of subordination of Serbian literary science was derived from seeing the role of literature which as inherited by Serbian culture and science in the mid’ 19th century when it was seen as the foundation of education, an expression of folk spirit and customs and the guardian of historical memory. This understanding contributed to setting the boarders to the perspective of Serbian literary science within the activity of Society of Serbian Letters, and limited its domains.
