Књижевност у Друштву српске словесности

Abstract

У многобројним делима и пословима чланова Друштвa српске словесности афирмисали су се сви важни родови и жанрови српске књижевности, поезија, драма, историјска драма, комедија, трагедија, роман, теорија књижевности, историја књижевности, критика, преводна књижевност, библиографија, створен је први научни часопис итд. Уз сва ограничења, уз језичке полемике које су на тренутке успоравале развој књижевности, уз све несавршености, уз почетничке промашаје и несигурности, у оквиру деловања Друштва српске словесности и његових највреднијих, најученијих и најуспешнијих чланова, учврстили су се темељи нове српске књижевности и њеног проучавања.

This paper analyzes the work of those members of the Serbian Society of Letters who were engaged in literary work. It is shown that apart from writers who were members of the Society, a great number of other members (outside the linguistic department) were also a part of the literary circle. Special attention has been devoted to the process of development of Serbian literature in the mid 19th century, which has been mostly influenced by members of the Society, as well as the importance of starting the Glasnik of the Serbian Society of Letters. All of the important genres of Serbian literature such as poetry, drama, historical drama, comedy, tragedy, novel, literary theory, history of literature, translated literature, bibliography etc., have been affirmed in numerous creations and activities of the Society of Serbian Letters. The foundations for the new Serbian literature and its studying originated among the activity of the Serbian Society of Letters and its most valuable, most educated and most successful members.
